Solana, 4th time is the charm, or is it? Solana is down again
Unfortunate news seems to follow Solana like a bad smell. This is the 4th time this year alone that the Solana blockchain has come to a screeching halt.
What happened this time?
This time the culprit was a misconfigured node. This node then in turn caused an unrecoverable partition in the network. The good news however is that the Solana devs were fast to respond, as they always seem to be. And addressing the issue within less than an hour, according to Twitter's timeline.
What happened in more detail was the validator was running a duplicate validator. So when their time came to mint a block. They minted two. And this then caused issues for other validators who then only were able to see one or the other of the bubble blocks. And in turn, the validators could not agree on which of the two blocks was the correct block.
Personally, I think that this speaks volumes to the Solana devs. As they are always on their toes, and ready to address and fix any issues that arise. And while it is unfortunate that there are stoppages. I would rather have them now in a bear market, where transaction volumes are at their lowest. Then in the mids of a bull run.
And I think all of these stoppages in turn have contributed to making the Solana blockchain more stronger and resilient. Just like when you break a bone. It heals even stronger where it broke.
What is your thought on the situation? Do you think this will inevitably lead to Solana's downfall, or will it just make them stronger? Please share your thoughts in the comment section down below.
