Got the sniffles? let Dr. Hamster help you in RollerCoin

RollerCoin, the browser game where you simulate mining crypto currencies while actually getting crypto currencies. It is a bit meta I know, but I like it.

Today I will take a closer look at the Dr. Mario clone Dr. Hamster. Hopefully you will find something that will help you get rid of those pesky germs.

In Dr. Hamster you can actually win in two ways. Compared to the one in the original game. Here you can win by either defeating all of the germs or viruses in the game. Or clearing enough cubes in order to get to the required amount of coins to clear the level. Clearing cubes or germs is done by placing cubes of the same sort in an orthogonal pattern of at least four. Meaning either right to left or up and down.

The first thing I want to talk about is what I have chosen to call “filling the gap”. This is when you purposely place cubes of the same type but leave a one or two space hole in the line. And why would you ever want to do this you might ask. Well this is done in order for you to be able to clear more than four cubes of the same color in one go. Increasing the amount of coins you earn. It is also a good way to clear germs of the same type that are on the same height or level. If they are close together that is.

The second thing I want to talk about is what I call bottom stacking. Normally stacking is done by placing the cubes on top of each other. But sometimes things happen that do not make this possible. Or the germs are located either close to each other or the bottom. 

If this is the case then it actually might be beneficial to stack from the bottom up. This leaves you all that room to maneuver on top and still lets you clear away lines or germs. Getting you closer to finishing the game.

The last thing might be obvious, but I definitely think it is worth a mention. And that is that it is possible to clear more than one germ in one go. This is probably not something that will occur that often in your games. It will probably only be relevant once you go high enough in difficulty. But it is still good to know that it can be done.
