By now you should be getting accustomed to the game, and the different decks you made. I think it is time to add on the next layers and start pushing your game to the next level.

Finetuning your decks

It is important to not think of a deck as "final" or "done". They are an living organism and is in need of revision from time to time. As the meta of the game shifts so doe your deck. It needs to adapt to the situations that you encounter in order for it to be competitive.

As an example. I am currently encountering decks that are considered "agro" decks. that means they put out creatures early and remove my creatures. Their goal of them is to have constant board control and either buff their creatures and kill me, or kill me by death of a thousand cuts.

There are a few ways you can try and deal with this. The first is to make an agro deck yourself. The second is by adding cards that allow you to kill the opponent's creature. Removing the board control from them. In a sense making what is known as a "control" deck.

But I would say that this is getting slightly ahead of ourselves. And what I would like you to instead try and focus on while looking at your decks is what I like to call combos and synergies.

If you are unfamiliar with the terminology used here, do not worry. I will cover them in a future post. All you really need to know now is they are named after how they are played and their goal.

Combos and synergies

A combo is probably the easiest to find and add to your deck. These are two cards, one of them is used to "buff" the other card. Making it much more powerful. There are of course different levels and power to combos. But I will try and give some examples of what I mean.

These two cards form a very deadly combo

These two cards, Dart Maniac and Uncanny Rouge are an example of a combo. You use the Uncanny Rogue to give the ability Deadly to the Dart Maniac. The Dart Maniac then randomly deals one damage to an enemy character at the end of the turn. Instantly killing any creature without protection or armor.

This current combo is specific to the god Deception. But as you start looking around you will notice that there are plenty of other combos, similar or otherwise that you can utilize. Some cards are even available to all gods.

This is where the game can be a little tricky. Initially, it is not clear that deadly is applied to this ability as well. But it is. And that goes for basically all abilities. All of these are applied across the board as far as I know. Deadly is just one of the more powerful combos that are available early on. But there should be others for you to discover when looking around.

One thing I would like to say. The total mana cost of a combo will greatly determine how hard it is to get to work. As an example, the combo above cost a total of 6 mana. That means you could play both cards on turn 5 with the use of the "small bags of tricks" and be 100% guaranteed you will be able to achieve it.

But if you want to gamble you could try to achieve the combo earlier. Playing the Dart Maniac on turn 2 and on the next turn use the small bag of tricks to play the Uncanny Rogue. This would mean you have this combo, at the same cost, and the use of one small bag of tricks, as early as turn 3.

But that I think is enough of combos. Now let us move on to synergies. There are plenty of synergies to be found in the game. The most common ones are synergies within a faction type of cards. If you look at the bottom of a card you will see that there is tex there. This can say Wild, Anubian, or Vikings just as an example.

Not all cards that have synergies needs to be creatures

A card with synergy is a card that either does something, gets something, or gives something to other cards of the same type. This can be anything from giving very creature +1 attack of this type, this creature getting X for every other creature of this type, or this creature does Y whenever this thing happens.

Often it is very beneficial to try and build your whole deck around synergies. But some synergies can be harder for a free-to-play player. This of course has to be something you need to experiment with on your own because we all have our own set of cards. Adding cards with synergies to your deck can be very powerful, even if the whole deck is not built to support the synergies.

Your next goal in game

The goal I would recommend for you now is to try and acquire as much Flux and Stars as possible. And of course, get as many more cards as you can. Flux and Stars is the in game currency. They are used for two different things. Flux is used for forging cards, or merging them. Making them into a higher level card. I will cover this topic in a future post.

Stars can be used to buy cards. The easiest way to see what cards can be bought is by pressing the currency symbols in the top right corner. It will take you to the screen where you can see the 4 different cards that can be bought. To start out I would recommend you check the Daily Deal once a day to see what card is featured here. The other one I think is slightly better is the Welcome Deal. This card here is already at the second level. And it is worth the price of 2 cards. This means in the long run it will save you some Stars.

But whichever card you decide to buy. Try and make sure that you buy at least two of them. As that is the maximum number of the same card you can have in a deck. Legendary cards you can only have one of.

Another way to get more cards is by leveling up your account. Each new level will give you a new card pack. And then of course there is also the weekly- and the weekend competition. Where you can get card packs depending on how many wins you can get. There is links in-game to blog posts that cover how these tournaments work. If you want to know asap, instead of waiting for a new post from me. ;)

I hope that you have found this post to be of use to you on your journey to the top of Gods Unchained. And I will try and cover many more different topics in future posts as well. But I will try and have a progression to them. Enabling newer players to progress by following along.
