A Promise - Thank you, Ma!

My mother-in-law passed away last November 16, 2021 (PH Time). Before she died, she promise to help us to have our own business. She promised us that she will be sending us a Balikbayan Box full of items that we requested. And a laptop so we can start our printing business.

That time that she made her promise, she was still strong. She will always update us on what is happening with her. And what was going on while she was purchasing the things she will put in the balikbayan box. Everything was going well. We were so happy and very thankful because she was supportive to us and to our goals.

But one day, she stop calling us. We tried to call her, but she's not responding anymore. We contacted my sister-in-law which is near hear. And we were shock on what she told us.

My mother-in-law was in critical condition. She couldn't barely move or talk. That is why she never answer our calls or call us back. We were saddened by the news. We never expected it because the last time we talked to her, she sounded okay. But we were wrong.

The news really shocked us. We also did not expect anything anymore but for her to regain her strength and live more on her life. We dont want anything but just to be with her. But due to pandemic, we cannot. There were lot of restrictions and the visa was not yet processed up until now.

As time goes by, she's becoming more sick and weak. Until the day came that she died. Up until her last breath, she's still thinking of my husband and her promise to us. She's telling her children to support each other and she loves everyone.

Months ago, my sister-in-law told us that my mother-in-law entrusted her the money to buy the laptop. She really thought us until her last breath.

Recently, the Balikbayan Box came! She put a lot of effort to fill in the box. There are lot of foods inside the bag. There are also comforters and bag for me. We are so happy upon opening the box and sad at the same time because there will be no one who will call us everyday to asked what to put in the box.

The other day, we received the money and purchased the model of the laptop we want and think will fit our business. It made us feel so happy and joyful. We couldnt fathom how much happiness we felt that time. We are very thankful, up until to the last, Mama still thinks of us.

We dont really know how to thank Mama for all of this. If only she could live more, if only we can kiss and embrace her more. This Christmas is a bit sad because Mama is not still here with us. But we cannot do anything but to move on and just trust the Lord. May you live in peace up there, Mama. We will never forget you. We are so grateful that we had a Mama like you. We love you so much, Mama! We miss you!
