There is a huge shortage of health professionals in the country due to their emigration. Eighty-five percent (85%) of our nurses work abroad while only fifteen percent (15%) work abroad.
All professions related to Medical Tourism are in dire straits today although this industry is just beginning in the Philippines.
Hotel and Restaurant. Coinciding with the rise of the tourism industry is the increasing potential of this industry in providing many jobs. According to the MTPDP, of the estimated 5 million tourist arrivals, 3 to 6 million jobs will be required.

From 2006 to 2010 only 875 are expected to graduate in courses such as materials engineering, metallurgical engineering, mining engineering, geology, geodetic engineering, matarial science engineering, associate diploma in mettalurgical engineering and ceramics engineering.

Construction. The industry has the highest demand for fabricator, pipe fitter and welder. There are 57, 114 welder currently working with TESDA certification. No one has been certified by TESDA for fabricator and structural steel erector. Only one TESDA institution trains for this and they can only train 150 students a year. The only training program for this job is Structural Erection NC II.
