Doppelganger may have already understood how PointGuard's ability worked, but no one else there had. John Doe was barely even affected, since he want given an important role, but the others had been ordered to do something that would have normally been a bit beyond their abilities - Dasher for example, and they managed to do it in perfect synchrony, all according to the will and direction of PointGuard. How the hell was that even possible?
Mill removed the crystal lodged in his thigh as he winced. His femur was cracked and he had a gaping wound as well. He immediately fashioned a crystal out of blood to hold the bone together and bprot3ctb8t while he sealed his injury with note crystal blood.
It was frustrating. Blood crystallization was a lot more complex and energy consuming, but he couldn't risk infection by using any other liquid, so he had to do it. He wasn't in top shape when he came out to look for PointGuard - the injureie Flames Gabe him were deep seated and the serum 2oukd not be adequate to heal all. Recuperation was necessary, but he was on a mission.
And now, he has experienced a handicap.
He looked at Doppelganger confusedly. How had he.manahed to form the same crystals. Did he have the same ability? Was he replicating what he'd seen? If that was the case, how long could he keep that up?! There were so many variables to consider, and there wasn't enough time.
"Had enough, Mill? This is something beyond the scope of your understanding. Agents that you've never met before, in perfect synchrony. A truly great time to be alive and be in control of this unit, because I've spent so much time wanting to get my revenge on the both of you, you especially, and I have Flames the Arsonist for dragging you through the mud yet again but leaving enough left for me to relish my revenge."
Mill stood up, sweating. He flexed his arm muscles, and the PointGuard smiled again. Mill must have felt too confident in his abilities that he forgot PointGuard had seen him fight over a hundred times. His mannerisms, his stances, his muscle spasms - he already knew what Mill wanted to do.
"Just like reading a book. Doppelganger, get ready to spray. From your open arms too, match his own crystals, because he's spraying too in a short while. Dasher, I need you to remain as low as possible to the ground. As soon as he gets preoccupied with what Doppelganger is doing, run up to Mill and give him an uppercut. Solid one. Garrison, you're going back to your metalloid form for a while . Make sure to block any surprises attakcs, and as soon as Dasher hits, you hit him immediately. Ready?"
Before the men could respond, Mill fired from his hands. There wasnt supposoed to be a possible means of escape, a spray of hard crystal would surely hit everyone and kill them, perhaps except for the Metal guy, but that was a worry for his next attack.
To his shock, the guy who hit him the first time fired like him again, and the crystals clashwd in the air. Not only did he use the same move, he used it in the same trajectory, same coordinates, and aiming for the same target. This was nothing short of sorcery.
Before he could react to that, something whizzed through the air from the corner of his eye. Actually, it was on the ground, and he remembered what that meant. The speedster. But it was too late to react to that, because the guy was in his face before he could produce any more crystals and gave him an upper cut.
As his jaw was dahsed upward and backward, he saw the metal guy approach him from the corner of his eye, and the solid punch in the belly saw him flying backwards.
As he struggled to get back to his feet he could hear PointGuard's mockig laughter. "What's wrong, Mill? Surely this can't be more difficult than the numerous missions you accomplished for the Foundation, can it? You're getting hit pretty bad by basic one-two distraction combos. That's embarrassing; I told these guys you were a legend and this would be hard. Did the Arsonist really destroy you inside and out?"
He hadn't seen PointGuard move at all. Talk into his comms, maybe, but not move. Was he using his ability then? How was it possible that these men who did not know him, knew exactly what move he was going to use when he wanted to use it? Was PointGuard telling them?
And what was PointGuard's ability anyway? He had watched the series of emotions that the speedster had gone through, and evennhe guy who had used his same technique. Surprise, and continual shock. The guy who fired seemed to have come to a realization. He knew what that ability was.
He bit his fingers and took a deep breath. Attacking rashly would only get him beaten up and killed. This time, he was aiming to analyze their movements and figure out exactly what PointGuard was doing.
