I really don't get it, and I've given up on trying to.

For now it will keep you busy (just like me) but trust me the spam will be gone. Once blocked they cannot spam you again. 😁👍🍀
Yes, the number of spammers will reduce. And if most of us here continue blocking, spammers will soon have nothing to spam, but themsleves.
