"What the hell did you just say?" Mac almost screamed as he threw himself in the chair. The four men were gathered in Jerry's sitting room listening to the latest development, and they weren't very happy with what they were hearing.

"You heard me right. My daughter was just here asking about her. She says they found her in an alleyway," Jerry mumbled.

"And the drugs?" Lex asked, looking frantic.

"No, they magically disappeared, you idiot. Of course, they found out about that too. Stupid smart cops," Vince cursed.

"We have a serious issue on our hands here. If news of this leaks to those at the top, forget it. All of us are gonna be dead by morning," Martin said, looking at Jerry as though he were their leader.

He wasn't. He was just as confused as them.

"News of this reaching those guys at the top is out of the question. We're not letting that happen. We'll have to handle this ourselves."

"And how do you intend to do that? We can't exactly raid the police station and grab or kill Amanda, and even if we did, the drugs are still out there. If Pablo doesn't get his money for that 2kg of Cocaine, we're done for. Done for," Lex said.

Coward, Jerry thought.

"Thanks, Lex. We didn't know just how bad it was, but you've really cleared it all up for us now. Does anyone have any less depressing thing to say or at least a solution?" Jerry said.

Martin sniggered, but it wasn't a mood for laughter so that died out quickly.

"We won't take action yet," Vince said, standing up.

"How can you say that?"

"Your daughter, Jerry. It doesn't look like she's any closer to solving the case. We shouldn't pressure ourselves into taking any drastic steps, or else we'll get into serious trouble. The kind that gets us in jail."

"So we just stay here and do nothing? I don't really see how that helps us..." Lex started.
"Shut it, Lex. We have one thing going for us. The girl is still suffering that amnesia," Vince said, looking at Martin.

"If I were you, I wouldn't hold on to that. That won't last long. The longer she stays in police custody, the greater the chances that something will happen that'll jolt her memory. You really think that would last forever?" Martin said.

"But you said you were sure about its efficacy."

"Yeah, but I'm no chemist. I did my best to create low budget benzodiazepine, and it would have lasted well, but she never left the city. There is a 70% chance that if she's taken outside, she'll remember who she is and how that bag got in her stomach."

"And, we're screwed," Lex said.

"Our priority now is generating the money to pay Pablo for the drugs, He'll think the movement was successful, and then we get out of that trap. Then we can take care of Amanda. Simple."

"Jerry, what about your daughter?" Vince asked.

"What daughter?" Jerry asked as they all shared a sly smile.

"He knows something," she said, pacing up and down the room.

Jake looked at Oprah. He'd been her best friend for ten years, and he still couldn't understand her sometimes.'

"Is there any time you actually feel your father is innocent?"

"That adjective is not compatible with Jerry's identity. And please don't call him my father," she snapped.

"I wouldn't if he wasn't." Jake quipped before picking up his phone.

"Sorry, Jake" she hugged him, " but my father has to be involved in this. The fact that she was found with A-Grade Cocaine, the likes of which can only be found in that Ghetto proves it."

"So if it's drugs, your dad, sorry, Jerry has to be involved?"

"Yes. He's high in the hierarchy, and he always knows a thing or two about who's doing what there,"

"And he gives you this information?"

"Yes, in turn, I keep his sorry ass out of that rehab."

"Not a very law-abiding citizen are you?"

"We all have our imperfections, Jake. My aim now is to find out why he's not telling me what he knows this time, despite the fact that he's told me a lot in the past,"

"And that'll not be possible unless you find out who your Jane Doe really is. Now I'd really love to know how you intend to do that."

"I'll have to visit the place where she was found. Talk to a few people... I don't know really, anything that can help me find out how she got there."

"You have to play this safe, Oprah. 2kg of cocaine isn't exactly what someone would afford to lose, and when coupled with the fact that this girl is a potential factor that can expose the drug ring there, you might be taking something more than you can handle," Jake warned.

"There's nothing I can't handle."

The next day, she would realize that she spoke too soon.
