The woman called Fraulein was a bubbling, charming lady.
She looked to be about 45 - 50 years of age, according to Alec's rough estimation based on her looks, and she carried herself with so much dignity, it would sound almost scandalous that she was running an underground smuggling network.
Which she was.
She wore a long princess-like gown, had her hair packed in a bun, and walked with so much grace and elegance, it felt like she'd been a ballet dancer in her 'glory days'.
"Ah, Ace," she said as they both walked into her office. It was surprising to see her stand up, and as she walked over to them, she hugged the silver-haired man and kissed him on both cheeks.
So his name is Ace? Alec wondered.
"Who's your handsome friend?" she said, looking at him with a coy smile.
"A..." Alec started.
"Lex. He's Lex." Ace butt in, smiling at her.
"Well, welcome to the Subway, Lex!" she said, grinning. "I run an underground shuttling system that will get you anywhere within this continent so far as you have the money to pay for it. Which I'm sure you both do," she said, although it sounded like an inquiry.
"Of course we do, Fraulein. It isn't my first time, and I made sure to cover for Lex."
Alex nodded slowly, trying to catch up. Why didn't Ace want his name revealed? How important was this identity of his anyway? There were way too many questions to be answered, but or the time being, he had to be patient. He'd surely get his time to ask all the questions later.
After they'd crossed the Rubicon.
"So what brings you here, gentlemen?"
"We'd like to get to Domino city." Ace said,
Domino City.
Alec had heard of it alright. The big technology hub. Home to some of the greatest tech creators, their products were what furnished the heaven that was called Twilight Cty. The things there ranged from dirt cheap to cutthroat costly, but all was of pretty nice quality anyway. The price difference was more of a name issue than of content.
That was not Twilight city. Ace wasn't revealing their final destination to her for some reason, but it looked like they were taking a detour there.
Which would be great, because the armor would need a few more upgrades than just the current stock features. Weapons would have been more preferable to having to use hand-to-hand combat.
Especially now he'd seen that the enhanced reflexes and quick reactions were putting a heavy burden on him. It felt as though his joints had all been dislocated, and several muscle cramps attacked him.
"You'll get used to it sooner or later," Ace had said at the time.
"Right this way then, let me process a few things and you'll both be on your way."
They followed her down the hall before she suddenly broke off into a new conversation.
"Ace guess what? I've expanded my business portfolio to add something else apart from transport."
"Ah? That's awesome. So what is it?"
"Bounty hunting...." she said, stopping.
The words sent a chill down Alec's spine as he readied his arms. Looking at Ace, he had the same exasperated look as he placed his hand on the handle of his sword.
"...and guess which two people have 10 million dollars on both their heads?" she asked in a creepy tone. Her voice went from the graceful accent it had to the lazy, scratchy drawls of an old record.
"Alec, remember what I said about you liking her?" Ace asked.
"Yeah?" Alec answered uncertainly.
"I was wrong." Ace said as the woman's form began to become more and more distorted.

WIPs
Well, this is another work done in pencil, and I think that will be the medium I will be using for most of the remaining parts, and I hope you guys like it.
This was my first sketch
I hope you enjoyed reading, I guess many more people are taking interest in the story than before, which is really great. I'll fix the links in one post as I did with my Taken story, so we'll see where that gets us.
Thanks a lot!
Reading your stories with some kind of tension and I love it! :))
