[WP] your new high school history teacher is not what he seems. He makes constant jokes about having met historical figures in the past, he drinks "coffee" that doesn't smell like coffee and you're pretty sure you've seen his eyes glow once. You try to find out exactly what he is.

Alexis didn't care what anyone said, there was something really off about Mr. Blackstone and how he suddenly got hired. Futura boarding school was known for its rigorous and extensive hiring period, so for him to just appear in the middle of the school year with no warning raised a pretty big flag for most of the student population. Rumors floated around the school with varying levels of believability to them, ranging from Mr. Blackstone having connections to the school's biggest donor to him being in witness protection. No one believed her theories of him having some other kind of connections, like mind control...because why would they? Before this, she thought the janitor was a vampire, and before him their choir teacher a siren. Not once has Alexis ever had proof that something was amiss. But it's not like that ever stopped her before.

Either way, most of the energy died down after the first two and a half weeks of the semester. Especially once everyone realized he was honestly just really knowledgeable about history. His teachings were so immersive it would feel like he was retelling these events from memory.

Sure he was nice enough, making sure he's got the exact pronunciation of your name and he always seemed to know where a pair of lost AirPods or pencil case would wind up. He even tried breaking the ice with a few cringe history jokes, mainly about how his tea tastes better than your average cup because he snagged some during the Boston tea party. But still, something about his energy sent chills down Alexis' spine whenever they would make eye contact. His lopsided smile would always show just a little too many teeth to be as friendly and inviting as he hoped. Strike one that he may be something else. She couldn't help but notice he flinched when he first shook her hand as if she burned him. He was swift with a charismatic apology and played it off as though he were making a joke, something about being allergic to the iron in her ring, but she'd be lying if she didn't admit she could smell burnt flesh for a moment. Strike two!

Even now, with five minutes left of their history lesson, Alexis squinted her eyes as she studied their new teacher. He sat with his back to the board as he fiddled almost mindlessly with one of the daisies on his desk, waiting for the rest of the class to finish their pop quiz. Gently, he plucked a petal from the plant and rolled it between his fingers with a wistful sigh as he stared out at the thick forest that lived right outside of their campus. She leaned forward, as though the two inches would give her a better look, only for his eyes to flicker back and bore into hers. As they made eye contact she frowned and looked back at her paper, only to hear him chuckle quietly before raising his cup to sip his tea. With every sip, it looked like he was being brought back to life. His skin practically glowed in the sun, his long silky platinum gray hair seemed to almost flow in the wind yet there was no breeze.

"Well everyone, go ahead and put your writing utensils down." His voice was soft, like being wrapped in velvet as he enchanted the class. With no protest from even the most difficult of students, one by one they placed down their pencils until the only student left holding one was Alexis. Begrudgingly she put her pencil down and looked at her sheet. Along with answers on the paper, she had doodled in the margins pretty boldly as she considered the impossible. A Vampire in one corner, a werewolf howling at the moon in the other. In the very top left, a tiny scribble of a fairy eating lunch on a mushroom. The bell rang, signaling the end of their class and their cue to hand off their papers. "That's all the time we have, i will see you all tomorrow." He said, pale green eyes flitting from one student's face to the next. She made sure to take her time putting away her books, dragging out every task so that she and Mr. Blackstone were the last ones in the classroom before she rose from her seat and slung her pack onto her shoulders. "Did you have a question for me, Miss Alexis?" He asked, raising goosebumps on her arms. Well, she did but 'You're weird, are you human?' felt a bit too on the nose, even for her.

Alexis swallowed before placing her paper on the top of his stack and shrugged. "Ah, yea, just wondering what kind of tea that is. You always talk about how good it tastes." She lied with a half-hearted smile and accompanying chuckle. "It's a family recipe...my mother called it Nettle tea." He hummed as he reached to take her quiz from its place. "I have some extra if you'd like" He glanced at her, peeling his eyes from the left-hand corner of the paper only to be answered with a firm shake of the head and a pair of wide eyes. "N-no thanks...I think I should be going! Don't wanna be late!" She was answered with a soft laugh that sounded different than before, lighter even like the sound of tiny bells ringing. "Absolutely, go right ahead. I'll see you tomorrow young lady."

The girl barely heard the end of his sentence with how fast she took off, her heart pounding in her ears. " No way..no freakin way!" She exclaimed as she scurried into a bathroom, fingers already flying as she fished out her phone and pulled up google. A Fairy! The new history teacher was definitely a fairy and she was going to prove it!
