Today I will talk about one of my favorite desserts, magnolia.

I think this dessert, which has been popular in recent years, is actually a taste that we all know. How about trying this dessert at home, which is available in chain coffee shops and almost every cafe I visit.

While I was thinking about what magnolia means, why did they name this dessert, I found myself in a research.

After doing some research, I found out that it has a different story. But before moving on to the story, I would like to give some information about pudding. Because it's very interesting. Pudding comes from pudding in English, while pudding comes from boudin in French, while boudin comes from botellus in Latin.

Boutellus means small sausage in Latin. The meaning of pudding is meat, and the use of meat in puddings in Medieval Europe. For a long time pudding was made from butter, flour, eggs and grains. So it's not a sweet dish. Later, over time, it took the form we know, made with materials such as milk, sugar, corn flour.

 After this preliminary information, I move on to the story of Magnolia Pudding. There is a bakery/patisserie called Magnolia Bakery in New York. It's a bakery that most New Yorkers know, and has appeared in many TV shows and movies like Sex and the City.

   The banana pudding called Magnolia Bread Pudding, which is the product of this place, is very famous.

It is served in a cardboard bowl and eaten by spoonfuls like ready-made ice creams. According to what I read online, it contains milk, cream, sliced ​​banana pieces and sponge cake blended into pudding.

Magnolia Pudding, on the other hand, takes its name from the famous banana pudding of Magnolia bakery in New York, as you have already guessed.

Let's go to dessert :)

It has a soft pudding inside. But it is much more delicious than the puddings we know, and its consistency is much different. The secret is to add cream after cooking the pudding. It tastes much lighter this way. It's not enough, it also includes baby biscuits with a taste that we can't get enough of. If it is in season, fragrant strawberries are also included in the work.

Ingredients for Magnolia Recipe

5 glasses of milk

1 cup of granulated sugar

1 packet of vanilla

1 egg yolk

2 tablespoons starch (corn or wheat starch)

2 tablespoons of flour

1.5 teaspoons of cream

For inside:

1 pack of baby biscuits

15-20 strawberries or 2 bananas

According to preference.

 

Transfer milk, sugar, starch, flour and egg yolk into a saucepan. Mix it well.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches the consistency of custard.

Remove from heat, add vanilla and mix.

Add the cream that starts to warm up and continue mixing.

Meanwhile, pass the biscuits through the rondo. Remove the stems of the strawberries and cut them into the sizes you want.

Take a few scoops of your cooled pudding. Spread on the bottom of a cup. Make layers by adding biscuits and strawberries on top. Divide into cups like this until all the biscuits, pudding, and strawberries are gone.

Then let it cool for 3-4 hours in the refrigerator.
