Silent heart attack interferes with the flow of blood to the person's heart and can damage the heart muscle.

A heart attack does not always have to be accompanied by obvious symptoms. There are times when a heart attack is minimal, without any recognizable symptoms and then it is called Silent Heart Attack or Silent Ischemia. During a silent heart attack, the person does not experience the specific symptoms commonly seen in the event of a heart attack, such as chest pain and shortness of breath. People who have a silent heart attack without symptoms may experience symptoms such as indigestion, the flu, or chest muscle strain. However, you should know that like any other heart attack, a silent heart attack interferes with the flow of blood to a person's heart and can damage the heart muscle.

Here are the symptoms of a silent heart attack.

1. Shortness of breath and dizziness

There may be times when you are having difficulty breathing even without chest pain. This may be a sign that your heart is not able to pump blood properly to the rest of the body. In addition, dizziness or lightheadedness can be a symptom of a silent heart attack.

2. Nausea and sweating

Vomiting, nausea, or excessive sweating due to fear or anxiety are usually considered flu symptoms, but these symptoms can also be signs of a silent heart attack and should not be ignored as it is a serious problem.

3. Chest pain, pressure and feeling uncomfortable

During a silent heart attack, there is a slight pain or discomfort in the chest. In addition, the person may feel a kind of pressure, contraction or squeezing in the chest. These symptoms usually start slowly and come and go over time.

4. Feeling restless in other areas of the body

A heart attack not only affects the heart but can cause discomfort in different parts of the body, making it difficult to identify the symptoms of a heart attack. Different areas of the body where discomfort or discomfort may be felt are the person's hands (especially the arm part), back, neck, jaw and abdomen.

Causes of silent heart attack

There can be various causes of silent heart attack such as-

  • High blood pressure

  • High cholesterol

  • Smoking

  • Family history of heart disease

  • Obesity

Silent heart attack can be detected only by electrocardiogram i.e. ECG, therefore, regular ECG checkup makes it easier to detect the occurrence of silent heart attack in any person. In such cases a long-term ECG system with a 1-3 lead system is not as helpful as a 12-lead ECG system. Compared to normal cardiac monitoring, a 12-lead ECG shows 3D electrical activity of the heart, which can be recorded from 12 different perspectives.

If a person has a silent heart attack, it is very important for him to stay calm and relax, to rest, to prevent future heart attacks, because both the body and the heart need rest. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any of the symptoms associated with Silent Heart Attack that we have just mentioned in the lines above. Silent heart attack can be avoided when we know the risk factors in advance, understand how our body works well and exercise regularly.
