Kazi Nazrul Islam (25 May 1899 - 29 August 1986; 11 Jaish 1307 - 12 Bhadra 1373 BS) was a Bengali poet and later the national poet of Bangladesh. He was one of the leading Bengali poets of the twentieth century.

Novelist, playwright, musician and philosopher who is known for his pioneering role in Bengali poetry as well as for his progressive motivation. He is one of the best exponents of Bengali literature, society and culture.

Notable as and he was a pinnacle of Bengali Manisha. His poems and songs are equally admired in West Bengal and Bangladesh. He is called a rebellious poet because of his rebellious attitude in his poetry.The main theme of his poems was the protest against human oppression and social injustice and exploitation.
