Bakit ka nagtatrabaho? Why do you do what you are doing now? Naitanong mo na ba yan sa iyong sarili?
It is important that we take some time to ponder these questions. Ang sabi ni William Pollard, chairman ng Service Master Company sa USA, "Work is more than just performing tasks. It is part of who we are or a place where we should be. "Ang sabi naman ni Pope John Paul II sa isang aklat na kanyang sinulat, "Work is a calling in the development of dignity in people."
The early Protestant movement gave this reason for working: " We work as a natural outgrowth of the abilities that were given to us." Napansin nyo ba sa mga quotation na ito na wala ni isa dito ang nagsabing nagtatrabaho tayo para mataas ang kita natin, para meron tayong sweldo? There is more to working than just earning big bucks.
Let me prop to you three important reasons why we work.
Work is integral to our being. We have a creative, working God. Sa simula pa lang ng Bible l, sa Genesis, makikita natin na talagang si God ay bising-busy sa paglikha ng mundo. And since we are created in His image and likeness, work becomes an integral part of our being. Kaya kung tayo ay tatamad-tamad at walang ginagawa, we are not being true to how God created us. Bahagi ng blueprint ng Diyos sa pagkakalikha Niya sa atin ang maging productive tayo: mag produce , mag create.
Work is God's command. We ate commanded by God to work. Not to work is, therefore, going against His design.
Now, I am not saying that work always has to be in a structured environment. Basta tayo ay productive at mat nagagawa ayon sa ating talents at kakayahan, yan ay bahagi ng pagtatrabaho. Hindi kinakailangan na ang lahat ay maging employee, dahil yung iba naman ang talent nila ay sa pagnenegosyo. The point that I would like to highlight is that work is God's command. Not to work is going against God's design.
Work is an opportunity. Work is a God given opportunity for us to take part in what He's doing to make this world a better place. Kung ganyan siguro ang magiging pursigido tayo to be excellent in what we do to really givr our best in serving others. Dahil ang trabaho pala ay oportunidad para makilahok sa ginagawa ng Diyos na pagbabago at pagpapaganda sa mundong ito.
Work will be more meaningful if we look beyond the pay slip. When we work,we become true to God's design for us to be fruitful and productive. When we work, we grab the opportunity to impact the world.
