I am a dreamer and I fantasize a lot. There are some fantasies I try to pursue to clear any doubts on what might be and there are some I don't sweat myself over because what's the point? Politics for one has never been my strong suit and I doubt if I would ever venture into it. I am more of someone who likes to pull the strings from backstage. Politics is too much dirty and exposing for me to venture in.
Since I don't want to go into politics or do anything relating to it, I pictured in my head that I recently became the President of Nigeria and because I love writing, I wouldn't even dream of anyone writing my speech for me, so, here is my speech, as the President of Nigeria hahaha. If this is moving enough, oh well...but if it isn't moving, probably another reason why I shouldn't even consider going into politics hahaha.
"It is with great delight and honour to serve that I speak to you all, my fellow Nigerians. No words could adequately do justice to describe how grateful I am to God and my fellow Nigerians for counting me worthy to direct the affairs of our great nation. Here is our time and we are allowed to dream again.
I know we have lost hope in the system and every word sometimes sounds like a broken record. There is nothing you haven't heard before now and I know the power of your voices - the same power that came together to make me your elected President. It's a privilege and together we can make a fine tune out every broken string.
Nigeria is our home. I am first a Nigerian above everything else and I am here to serve the interest of everyone, regardless of tribe or status. We are all one and that's how it would be, going forward. We need to collectively put an end to sectional leadership and I am glad you elected me to break that rank. We are great people and that's why we are the happiest people on earth. I can picture greater things that we can do together already.
This is a democracy and the era of demonstration of craziness is over because I intend to listen to your grievances through the appropriate channels so we can provide the life you've always dreamed of as a Nigerian. This is a new era so your needs would be prioritized because, without you, there is no government. As your President, I am here to serve and I am only here to do that. The yardstick of my success would be dependent on how comfortable you all get during my tenure.
There is no doubt that we are blessed with an abundance of resources and it is more disappointing that we are not harnessing these resources while we have over-dependence on a particular sector. Every bit makes a whole and I intend to do better by injecting life into every aspect of our economy while reviving abandoned resources. This is a land filled with milk and honey and it is morally wrong to have the son of a king walking around in rags while his daughter is being torn apart and led astray by broken promises.
Reviving every aspect and harnessing these resources to the best of our abilities would not only help our economic growth which will bring about a better standard of living for the citizens, but it would also allow Nigeria to take its place amongst the committee of nations because before now, the giant of Africa has been on a long nap and now, we are here to awaken the giant to make that presence known.
I promise to uphold the values of our beloved country, to serve and not allow the labour of our heroes past to be in vain. If I am ever to be remembered for anything, I want it to be that I gave my all for my nation. I am here not to rewrite history so as not to make light of the efforts of those who truly served but to improve on the template that has been given by the true heroes of our nation. Together, we can make this country great again.
A lot rests on the leader and rightly so. With great power comes great responsibility, they say. I will do my part and I need everyone to do theirs too. Let's purge our nation of its ills and be our brother's keeper. The Police has been mandated to be your friend and there won't be any tolerance for any officer of the law that goes against this. The days of exploitation and oppression are over. There is no sweeping under the rug for any law enforcement agent found wanting. Let's cooperate with them and do what's right.
It's never too late to dream again. Yes, we can't go back to do things better but we can start now and be assured of the desired end to all our sufferings. This country is ours and we would fight to get her to be better.
Your creative minds would be supported so start thinking of what you can give to your country. Your hard work would be rewarded and there is hope for those who have been clamouring for a review of the minimum wage. Government officials can't keep raking in the millions while those who serve the system with blood and sweat as well would be going home with stipends. This would be dealt with in my bid to let you all understand that we are all one.
Our infrastructural facilities would receive a massive lift while every troubled region can rest assured that peace would also reign. You can go to bed knowing your safety is guaranteed - the safety of your life and properties. Every child can dream again and every adult can have a renewed hope because the Nigeria you have waited long for has finally arrived. Better late than never and your sweat and wait would be adequately rewarded.
I look forward to exciting times together where we can all beat our chests and say, 'I am proud to be a Nigerian'. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Thank you all."
Commander-in-chief,
President Olawale Oladoja.
Thank you for your time.
didn't know you had dreams of presidency, olaf XD but this is really hopeful. i wonder if you would fulfill these basic promises since you already know how hard it is to support dreamers
