If you want to be brave, read this.

Do you want to be brave? Courage is not something you are born with - you get it over time with life experiences.

Even if you are nervous, you can show courage by telling your heart what we can do and by challenging new experiences. It may take you a little time and a lot of patience, but with a positive attitude and helpful thinking process, you will find that you are smarter than you think.

Accept that you are scared.

'Courage does not mean that you are not afraid - it means that you are not afraid, but you are still going through the worst moments. When you try to push the feelings away, they often get stronger.

Instead, accept that you are thinking about how you feel. You can deal with them better by being honest about your feelings.

Say it out loud.

  • Saying what you are afraid of may reveal it tomorrow and make it more normal. You can't tell anyone about this, yourself. You can also try the magazine.

Write about your feelings confidentially, but honestly. Refrain from judging yourself - saying "I am such a coward" is useless. Focus on how you felt when it wasn't judged: "I'm afraid of the operation. I need it tomorrow."

Prove your feelings.

  • You need to understand that your feelings are normal. Fear is sometimes called the “lizard brain” from your brain area, the amygdala, because it processes the most important emotions and is experienced by everyone. Judging yourself for your feelings is not helpful and does not lead to courage. It helps to read the stories of people who have faced their fears and overcome them. This will help you understand that you are not alone in experiencing fear, it is easy to fall in with this feeling within you.

Name your fear.

  • Sometimes, we are not sure what we fear. Uncertainty can increase anxiety, which then eases us more fear. Take some time to determine what may be causing the feelings of fear.

You may find that self-reflection is beneficial. Try to be as specific and detailed as possible.

For example: “I was scared. I can feel it everywhere in my body. I'm disgusted. I don’t know why I’m scared right now. Things that can cause this fear can worry about my partner’s health, or my concern about keeping my job, or feeling like the Lakers won’t be able to win this year’s championship . "

You may also find it helpful to talk to a mental health professional. Many people believe that the myth that therapy is only for people with big, immeasurable problems, but this is not true. If you are always having trouble getting scared, a therapist or counselor can help you identify why and come up with strategies to address it.

Examine your fears. We may be afraid when we see harm or threat to ourselves (or to others). Some fears are legitimate, but others do more harm than good. Examine your fears and decide if you think it is helpful or harmful. For example, being afraid of heaven when you haven't had a class yet is a reasonable fear.

He has no training or skills in this area and may be injured. However, you can overcome this fear by taking classes and learning more about skydiving. You may still feel a little nervous when you're on the plane, but you've taken all the steps you can control. On the other hand, being afraid to finish writing your book because you are afraid of how others will judge you doesn't really help. You have no control over the reactions of others, but you can control what you do. In this case, the only thing stopping you is fear itself. Your fears can also be expressed as immutable and universal. Take a step back and review them. For example, "I am not brave enough to travel alone" assumes that your fear is natural and permanent. Instead, focus on what you can do to overcome this fear: “I am afraid to travel alone. I can research where I will feel most comfortable once there. I can take self-defense classes to feel stronger. " X Investigation.

Accept the weakness. One common reason we are afraid is that we are weak. Weakness comes with the possibility of uncertainty, pain or danger. However, being weak exposes you to love, connection and empathy. Learning to accept weakness as a fact of life helps you to worry a little about your fears. One way to be courageous is to accept that everyone is in danger. Everything you do in a day - from sleeping to dinner - is risky. But that doesn't stop your life. There should be no things you are afraid of. Fear of failure is another common fear. Try to think of things that you can learn from them, not in terms of success or failure. That way, everything works in the way you expect it to.

Focus on the things you can control. It is impossible to be intimidated by anything - it is an emotional response that cannot be changed. However, you can control your actions. Focus your attention on your actions, not on your unwanted reactions. Remember that you have no control over the consequences of any action. You can only control what you do. Eliminate the notion that "you have to do" how any action turns out - you can't control it. Focus on your actions, not their results.

Find a paper model. If you have trouble finding your way through a situation, try modeling your behavior after someone else faces adversity. Not only can this give you a good dose of insight ("Wow, at least my problem isn't that bad"), it can inspire you to be more daring. Find a role model with people you already know. If you feel comfortable enough, ask them how they handled courageous situations. Discover brave characters from history. Find life stories of celebrities who bravely faced adversity, such as Theodore Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman or Joan of Arc, freedom fighters, rebels and more.
