Since it was payday yesterday, we decided to have pizza for dinner today! Since everyone is at home. It was a voting thing since we were deciding over chicken or burgers. In the end, pizza won UwU

If tinapa is sardines, then that is cool. I like a little bit of fish sauce. You can’t have good Pad Thai without it.
Yes, the smoked kind of fish. That's actually the main ingredient for palabok but I've never had pad Thai before
Pad Thai is simply Thai style noodles. Served with shrimp or chicken, I believe. I don't remember palabok, but my wife says I've had it, and I like it. Just keep that icky shrimp paste far away from me, please! :-)
I should look for a place that serves pad Thai. It's cooked in peanut sauce, right? Don't fear shrimp paste UwU it completes some dishes, I swear
Peanuts are certainly part of it, but as I recall it is the fish sauce that gives it the good taste. It certainly doesn't have the strong peanut sauce taste of kari-kari, for example. My wife makes a great kari-kari. She uses oxtail, which I won't eat, but I pick out the veggies, and they are so yummy!
Okay I can kind of get what this should taste like but why don't you eat the ox tail OnO What about the ox tripe and tongue? Don't tell me you don't eat that too
This "Little Emperor" only eats certain parts of the animal. For example, when we get lechon manok, I eat all the breast meat and legs. Although it is great for flavoring, oxtail is yucky to eat directly. I won't eat tripe or tongue, and if the cut of beef has too much fat, I won't eat it either. I'm not supposed to eat pork, but when I do, (don't tell my wife!), there had better not be a speck of fat on it! I only eat certain kinds of fish, and then mostly just the meat from the back. I don't like fish belly, and no way am I eating the head! Yes, I am a spoiled American. It is amusing to the folks here to watch me pick through my food as I eat.
Oh I would definitely enjoy watching you pick through your food too 🤣🤣🤣 I wonder if my boyfriend would be like this too because he's American and so far, I'm sure I can't make him eat raw fish but I can make him eat crocodile meat and frog legs. Don't know if there's other things I can't make him eat but I think he'll hate shrimp paste like you do 😂😂😂 I think shrimp paste may be a westerner repellent of sorts
Yes, exactly! As garlic is to vampires, so shrimp paste is to westerners. Excellent insight, Ms. Hanzell! Raw fish is okay, (we westerners eat sushi), but dried fish? Ugh!! The odor alone turns my stomach. Nothing like waking up in the morning to the stench of dried fish cooking. :-(

Here's a nasty one: some of the CRs around here are kinda, uh ..... icky. I remember in my wife's old house, (the one she grew up in), the CR was a monstrosity. It was low, (I banged my head on the ceiling), it sorta slanted to one side, and the walls, made out of old rice bags, had gaps in them, so if you were in there, you could wave to people passing by. UGH!! Needless to say we have a MUCH BETTER CR now.
Ahh that's typical of provincial CRs though 😅😅😅 even then ones in my province have horrendous ones that are outside the house for a reason 😅😅😅 The houses in cities usually have more presentable CRs, but I think that depends on the standard of living too
Yep. And to bring this discussion to a close, I hope I never have to wade through the shallow coastal waters where the very poor folks build their simple shacks-on-stilts. (No offense to those folks; they are doing the best they can with what they have.)
