Fake News has a lot of definitions. We need to find where and exact when will a content , article or a publishing platform be called a fake news or spreading fake news.
According to Wikipedia, fake news are news that consists of deliberate misinformation and hoaxes spread via different forms of medium or media like books, news publishing sites, news papers and social media.
Fake news is often referred to as fabricated news. It is the kind of news being presented as fact despite of being no factual source at all.
Remember that there are degrees of Fake News that you need to consider.
What is the intent of the publishing the news? What are the intentions? Take note that News Satire is very very different from maliciously tagged as fake news.
These are the seven types of fake news that are identified by Claire Wardle of First Draft News.
1.satire or parody ("no intention to cause harm but has potential to fool")
2. false connection ("when headlines, visuals or captions don't support the content")
3.misleading content ("misleading use of information to frame an issue or an individual")
4. false context ("when genuine content is shared with false contextual information")
5. impostor content ("when genuine sources are impersonated" with false, made-up sources)
6. manipulated content ("when genuine information or imagery is manipulated to deceive", as with a "doctored" photo)
7.fabricated content ("new content is 100% false, designed to deceive and do harm")
We, the Philippine Read is a News Satire page. Which means we belong solely to the first degree of Fake News, which is Satire or Parody. As you can read above, those are the degrees of fake news according to the sources.
There are currently NO LEGAL ACTION in which you can do in order for us to face legal consequences because there isn't.
If you are fooled by one of our articles, THAT'S YOUR FAULT. That's why we named this page The Philippine READ, because you have to read. Encouraging everybody to read, to avoid the real enemy, which is the fake news.
Our intentions are very clear and present in our page. It is very very obvious. When you take everything seriously on this page, we both will run into some problems. As a matter of fact, the offender causes a great problem to us, The Philippine Read due to probably low reading comprehension and mass reports.
This Publication acts like a vaccine, it is the most weakest forms of fake news and still you can learn the structures, on how to identify them by just reading it.
I guess there are more stupid people than smart and educated ones. These stupid people are very dangerous when flocked together. Never ever underestimate the power of Mass Reporting a page on Facebook.
One day, this page may die soon but not later. We have our second page, which acts as an emergency bunker, like the page Philippine Read +. We have our Youtube account which has small subscribers, so I encourage you to subscribe, Philippine Read. We also now have Twitter account, @PhilippineRead , follow us there.
Soon we will have our very own website <3 , but it's far from possible. We still rely on Facebook to publish our articles, we got zero funding.
Anyways, I am very glad to share this another Feature Article. These articles should be on this page, but turns out it became a News Satire Page instead.
