What is EOS?

It's is a blockchain that's designed to allow developers to build decentralized apps (dApps)

Paul Puey (Edge CEO) and I dive into the history, tech, & what's next for EOS.

We also put our money where our mouths are: we each decide whether to invest $100. This is not investment advice, we're just giving you a peek into our own portfolios and how we make decisions for ourselves. Keep in mind, I'm more interested in the team, the tech, and whether it's a cool project than in short term gains.

If you'd like a more in-depth look at EOS, this week I did a members-only interview with Block. One CTO Dan Larimer. We start off by taking a deep dive into EOS, and end up in a philosophical discussion about democracy in general.

The very best part of all the news about EOS (and its ilk)

Strong Corporate Interest reveals
which coins probably have social backdoors and other weaknesses
that corporate technical assessors recognize can be exploited for profit.

This explains why purely p2p coins languish in value:
lacking exploitable complications
they present insufficient attack surfaces for corporate interests.
The most effective deterrent to corporate interest
is to lack any formalized or technical (=manipulable) political mechanisms.

example:
a gold coin has no builtin political mechanism.
It just works - any politics involved in spending gold is external to the coin.
Conversely:
Most of the coins/tokens/whatnot in cryptospace
can be devalued or censored in transit
by the very mechanisms they boast about having to solve problems.
The lesson:
Each single political solution any coin builds upon
creates multiple unforeseeable attack vectors.
