New Ways To Make Your Writing Effective

It is a common knowledge that writers are supposed to be very good in English. However, many people think that they can write as well as any professional writer if they just have enough time and inspiration. Unfortunately, writing skills are not something you acquire by sheer practice or desire; it is a talent that you are born with. This doesn't mean, however, that talented writers cannot learn how to make their writing more effective and efficient. In fact, they should never stop learning because that's the only way to improve your skills.

In this article I will present you with five tips how to make your writing more effective and efficient. If you'd like to increase the number of people who read your texts and get them interested in what you have to say follow these simple rules:

Make a plan before you start writing

Before beginning a piece of writing it is very important for a writer to think about its structure. It is necessary to have an outline including all major points which need covering; otherwise the process of writing will be time-consuming and probably result in rewriting some parts several times. On top of that, if you do not know what you are trying to say, you can hardly expect that your readers will grasp the meaning of your text.

Organize your ideas in a logical way

There are many online articles or blog posts where sentences make no sense at all and it is very difficult to follow their argumentation. It happens when a writer tries to say too much without providing any kind of structure for his/her text. To avoid this mistake, you should focus on one main idea (in other words don't try to cover too many points in one article). If you would like to include different thoughts within one piece of writing, divide them into subheadings which you can also use to create an outline before beginning your work. Try avoiding using like "first of all" or "in the first place", because it makes your text look unstructured.

Be creative but don't exaggerate

Writers are often tempted to use complicated words instead of simple ones. However, this is not always a good decision because excessive usage of difficult vocabulary deprives your text of clarity and makes it sound pompous. Therefore, unless there is no other way, try using simpler words which will help your readers understand what you write without exerting too much effort on their part. At the same time, keep in mind that creativity doesn't mean exaggeration or an attempt to be different for the sake of being different. It is crucial to ensure coherence and consistency in all elements of your writing: style and language must go hand in hand and support each other.

Delve into the subject

If you like to read fiction, it is likely that you would prefer texts which focus on interesting characters and what they do rather than those which provide you with detailed descriptions of places or events without any background information. The same principle applies to non-fictional writing as well: try delving deeper into your subject and providing context for things which need explaining. This way your reader will be able to create a vivid picture of the situations described in your article or book.

Always follow common writing rules

When you write something – whether it's an essay, research paper or post – always use correct grammar and spelling; otherwise not only people who speak English as a second language but native speakers as well will have a hard time understanding what you mean. On top of that, try to use simple vocabulary and avoid using complicated constructions in your texts. There is nothing wrong with playing with words and creating interesting sentences; however, when you write an academic text the priority should be clarity and coherence rather than experimentation.

By following these simple rules you can easily create texts which people want to read because they are not difficult to understand and follow what you say. What's more, this kind of writing will help your academic performance improve greatly: papers written according to all aforementioned rules will allow professors or teachers quite easily determine what content (if any) students need to work on in order to make progress with their writing skills.

I agree with that an article outline is the backbone to an article and it is not only helping you to be more organized, but it is easier to consume for the reader. Also a good structure is necessary to understand what you are writing about. Good tips.
