Hello , friends ! Today I will write an article about the 10 oldest mosques in Bangladesh. I hope everyone will like it.

Ten historical ancient mosques of Bangladesh!

The mosque is a place of worship for Muslims and followers of Islam. Although Bangladesh is a Muslim majority country, the history of Islam is not so old here. Due to various reasons, all the pre-Mughal structures have been destroyed except some ancient mosques in Bangladesh. Today we will learn about some of the traditional ancient mosques of Bangladesh.

1.Baba Adam Mosque:

The Baba Adam Mosque was built in 1483 at Dargabari village in Munshiganj district near Dhaka. In the courtyard of the mosque is the tomb of Baba Adam. The 8-domed mosque is 43 feet long and 36 feet wide. At present Baba Adam Mosque is under the supervision of Bangladesh Archaeological Department.

2.Kakrail Mosque:

The Kakrail Mosque, located in the Kakrail area next to Ramna Park in the capital Dhaka, is a traditional mosque in Bangladesh. In the past, this mosque was known as Malwali Mosque. It is believed that this mosque was built in 1473. The mosque has been used as the main center of Tabligh Jamaat in Bangladesh since 1952.

3.Daras Bari Mosque:

Daras Bari Mosque is located on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Chapainawabganj district. After its construction in 1493, the mosque was known as Firozpur Jame Mosque. The mosque was buried for a long time, which was published in the 70s.

4.Small gold mosque:

The small Sona Mosque in Chapainawabganj district was built in 1493. It is known from the inscription that Wali Mohammad was the founder of the mosque. The mosque was 72 feet long in the north-south and 52.5 feet wide in the east-west.

5.Sixty-domed mosque:

The ancient sixty-domed mosque in Bagerhat district was built in 1500 AD. No inscription was found on the mosque, but the style of construction suggests that Khan-i-Jahan built the mosque. In 1983, UNESCO declared the 60-domed mosque a World Heritage Site.

6.Khaniyadighi Mosque:

Khaniyadighi Mosque, located in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district, is locally known as Chamchika Mosque and Rajbibi Mosque. This ornate mosque was built in the early fifteenth century. The length of each side of this square mosque is 26 feet.

7.Bagha Mosque:

The historic Bagha Mosque is located in Bagha Upazila, 41 km from Rajshahi Sadar. 1523 Sultan Nasrat Shah, son of Alauddin Shah, built the Bagha Mosque. The mosque, built on 256 bighas of land, has a total of 10 domes. The Bagha Mosque is 22.92 meters long and 12.18 meters wide and has 4 ornate arches. There is also a shrine next to the Bagha Mosque. For almost 500 years, a three-day ‘Baghar Mela’ has been organized in this mosque area from the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

8.Laldighi 9 domed mosque:

The first Laldighi nine-domed mosque was discovered during the British rule. Then the locals started using the mosque. As no inscription was found on the mosque, the date of its construction could not be ascertained. However, it is believed that the mosque was built in 1523 by a Dilwar Khan.

9.Kusumba Mosque:

Kusumba Mosque, located in Kusumba village of Manda police station in Naogaon district, is a traditional ancient structure of Bangladesh. Built in 1554, the mosque is 56 feet long and 42 feet wide. There are a total of 8 domes in two rows on the roof of Kusumba Mosque. The mosque was built by a man named Sulaiman during the Afghan rule.

10.Chatmohar Shahi Mosque:

The Chatmohar Shahi Mosque, located in Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna, was once a ruin, but was rebuilt by the Bangladesh Department of Archeology in the 1880s. In 1561, Masum Khan Kabli, one of the generals of Emperor Akbar, built the Chatmohar Shahi Mosque. Many historical books refer to the mosque as Masum Khan Kabli Mosque.
