A wedding costs a lot of money. You need to spend a lot just to celebrate it for one day. I remember when we attend a seminar for all the couples... the speaker asks us how much money we have to spend on our wedding day... Some answered P200,000; P100,000; and P40,000. On those answers, we just realized how expensive wedding ceremonies and parties would be. It is reasonable 'coz you need to pay on reception, food, decorations, cakes, gowns, coats, etc. So to decide if you will get married, you need to save lots of money.

But you know that in Tokyo, Japan, newlyweds can receive up to 600,000 yen ($5,700) just to start their new life?

Yes, it's true.

Why they support so much money for newlyweds? Well, Japan is known for the workaholic people. They tend to work fulltime. They were focused on that, so being married is not their priority. And because of that, their nation has an ultralow birth rate.

That's why... The government decided to create the program just to boosts marriages.

So fewer people will marry late and stay unmarried, and on the contrary... larger sum of couples.

But before that, they need to pass on the eligibility.

They need to be under the age of 40 and have a combined income which is 5.4 million yen.

And you know what? Even those who want to remarry can also apply to this program as long as they didn't receive the benefit before.

But this is not functional throughout Japan. This is just enforced in 257 of the 1,724 cities in Japan.

So if you're from Japan and didn't know about this program, try to know more details by consulting the government institution in your area.

Thanks for reading! πŸ’•

Does it only apply to newly married couples? How about a couple who has been married or married two or three times?

Yeah. That program is for newly married only. For example, some people want to remarry, they can apply to the said program as long as they didn't receive the benefit yet.
