Does Hell Exist?

Ever growing up as a child and born into a religious home, we were meant to understand that when we do things against God's commandments then hell is our destination. It kept me wondering of late if this is true.

I have tried for many years to understand the concept of hell itself but it seems each time one tries to push further to find out, the more you find yourself into the age-old fairy tale about heavens, paradise, and hell.

Religious leaders have made it a point to get lots of people intimidated because when they hear the words hell and all that is been said of it, they become submissive at once.

Before now rulers of old also used the fear of hell to harras and intimidate people to either become subservient or to remain in perpetual fear forever. But what is most troubling is the fact that basic human rights are constantly abused in such a society. People get to leave with the borders of these hell pronouncements.

I'm not against religion so don't get me wrong. And whether or not I believe hell exists is not the question. But I'm putting a question to you if hell does exist.

So, what would your answer be, a yes, or a no?

Hell has been depicted in scary manner humans would be burnt relentlessly without mercy for the wrongs they have committed in their earthly life. But all these continue to remain a fantasy as nobody since all those scary stories are lamented is seen hell. It is only spoken about.

For hundreds of thousands of years, people died and many are dying yet. None have been to hell yet. Does this hell really exists or a fantasy or fiction that is told in stories?

The description of hell seems to be like a scorching nuclear sun. One can only imagine what that could mean. Just imagine a person thrown into the sun. It remains an imagination as nothing would be left of such a person within seconds.

So many religions seem to be obsessed with life after death and often worry that the caste of fire is a dreaded punishment. But again, they have different stories about the chastisement offenders would receive. Some described it more harshly and others milder. And they all have different reactions which they evoke in their audiences.

The consequences of this kind of teaching can be seen in the ways people behave towards things and their general lifestyle. Those whose orientation about hell is mild tend to be much more open to the life of being less conservative. But those who are orientation about hell are harsher and are more conservative.

And yet also the kind of orient people have affects their economic situation. That is why we often see conservative people having less successful living standards compared to those that are liberal. The liberal one embraces much more open ideas.

Since hell is been preached or talked about there has never been any visible evidence to back up its existence. All everyone knows is but assumption and imagination.

There are reported stories about how Africa was colonized using this same ideology. The fear of hell syndrome hoodwinked the population into being loyal to their systemic occupation until the whole continent was taken over. And words like " they gave us the bible and thought us to pray with eyes close, before opening them, they have the land and we have the bible" are evident if religious manipulation and the pronouncement of hell are used to keep the followers loyal.

But, if hell really exists as it is wanted to be believed, who has been there, how does it look, what's is fuel? All these questions and more demands real answers and not just the kinds of fairytales we are used to.

Well, sometimes Ma'am or Sir, we have to consider the context in which the concept of hell is being used. Such that in your example, they used it to induce fear. The same method was employed centuries ago in Europe in order for people to give wealth in exchange for not going to hell, which means securing a place in heaven. In my case, I do believe in hell, but I also believe that it wasn't created for humans but for the devil and his kind. Don't bother waiting for what one will say to you if it truly exists or not. Ghosts are already scary and it is hard to believe how much more when a man that comes from hell testifies to it.

The fact is that the whole concept of hell might just be a weapon used to suppress the weak and establish fear. It might be true or not but the fact is when you die do you really want to find out? Why not just believe. Better safe than sorry.

I'm a Hindu and the "Hell" mentioned in our books is different from hell from other religions.. In others, it a place where demons live and they suck soul of humans and punish them.. But in our religion, Hell is a place where "God of Death" lives and his name is "Yama Dharma Raja", the God of justice and utmost kindness, who releases souls from their sins by punishing them for their deeds and once karma is killed, they are sent back to Earth to live a righteous life again and then merge into Supreme power of the Universe... We do not have "Satan" in hell, we have God, but God who punishes bad and evil

It is beautiful that different religions recognized that indeed hell exists but incredibly they have different ideas about it.
