Once Upon A Father's Day
June 27, 2022
Father's Day was celebrated a week ago but I wasn't able to come home due to unexpected circumstances. The boss asked me to render overtime work in preparation for the coming ISO visit. I'm glad that the university passed the standards. Everyone held their breaths for a week as we stressed making the necessary preparation. With that good news, everyone had a happy weekend. I was able to come home last Saturday though not early.
I'm glad too that the baker where I ordered a cake before Father's Day allowed me to leave the cake at her shop for almost a week. I brought it home since I already paid for it before Father's Day. It's just that circumstances didn't allow me to come home.
My niece was ecstatic when we asked her to give the cake to our father. We told her to say "Happy Father's Day" even though it was a week late. She is our bundle of joy because she obeys even when she can't pronounce the words properly. After handing the cake, she hurriedly looked for a candle. My niece already has the initiative and we never even thought to her about it. After lighting the candle, she sang a "Happy Birthday" song to her grandad. Whenever she sees a cake, she would assume that someone is celebrating a birthday. Thus the song.
My father is already fifty. He doesn't have a complete set of teeth anymore and the veins on his arms are evident. That's because she worked too hard since he was seventeen. He lost his dad at an early age and that urged him to step up and help his mom in managing their farm while his elder brothers studied at the university. His brothers never think of him when it's his time to go to university. My dad supported them financially yet he didn't receive the same amount of help when he needed it.
He got married to my mom and continued to work hard so he can provide us with our needs and send us to school. He's a great provider and a great dad. He may not be always around due to his work but we feel his presence, especially his advice. Every time we sit and eat dinner as a family, his words would always resonate.
He is one of the many reasons why I work hard for our dreams every day. I want to be able to give back and give them the way of life that they deserve. We all have dreams for our families, I suppose. Mine includes a lot of unending series of goals. I guess I only live for them.
What I always ask God is for Him to let my parents witness my success. It's the least I can do for them. Sometimes, I get so fuzzy and demanding about Him because I know my parents aren't getting younger. As soon as possible, I want them to experience life that's wonderful and convenient. I want them to travel and visit a lot of places. But only God knows the perfect timing.
I'm praying that Hell always remind me to trust His perfect time.
Thanks for reading. Until the next read.
I'm glad to see that you had a happy Father's Day, I hope you continue to have many such celebrations together.
Your niece looks just like a little cousin of mine named Lucecita.
