Here Comes The Sun

Maupay na Aga from Samar State University!
I was able to go on an unexpected trip again. This time it's not nearby. It took us six hours to arrive in Samar. The trip was too long and it was tiring. Sitting for six hours wasn't fun at all plus the road is bumpy and curvy that it makes me dizzy.
We were supposed to come home earlier today but the purpose of our trip wasn't carried out yet so we extended it until today.
Upon arrival, I was delighted to see the university's admin building. It set the standard for a university. It's like a commercial building. When we entered, music was played, it was their university ID. It reminded me of the feeling of entering Gaisano Malls. They are welcoming to their guests.
Most of the buildings of the university are high-rises. It gave off legit university feels. Two of their buildings are also solar-powered. The trees also give a wonderful and typical university vibe and they gave shades to the parking vehicles.
Outside the university, this view can be seen. It's aesthetic and one of a kind. I like that it's calming to the eyes.
I'm also fortunate to meet their University President. She's inspiring and passionate about her mission. She's also beautiful even when she's aged. She's fashionable and accommodating too. What I liked about her the most is her passion for her vision.
She's not a native of Samar but she is determined to change people's stereotypes about Samar. She said that the place is viewed as a place which is poor and a place where NPAs are rampant. She also added that it's the place where household maids came from. Those are the stereotypes that go along with the province's name. Now, she's on the mission of changing it. She wanted the University to be known and she wanted to change people's perspectives about Samar. With the university as a tool, she wanted people to establish a brand new impression of the province.
Another thing that is inspiring about her is her vision of helping the poor. She explained how important it is to keep track of the university's needy students. Those that need assistance. She wanted the teachers to be on a constant mission to monitor the students who will be known as First Generation Graduates- these are the students who can be the first graduates in their families. She stressed that it's important to help them so they can graduate and be able to be of help to the family. While explaining this she is teary-eyed. Truly, she is true to her vision.
She didn't say all of these at a conference. She said that while we are at the table snacking. She talks to the ordinary and she is a ray of sunshine. I'm glad I came. I was able to meet inspiring people. By the way, like our university president, she is also among the Most Inspiring Teachers in the Philippines in the year 2022. That's made possible by the Saceda Youth Lead.
Thanks for reading.
Until the next read!
