A poor cobbler lived in the hut of a certain town. He worked happily and sang merrily. He lived from hand to mouth. A rich man lived near his hut. He felt pity for the poor cobbler. He gave him five hundred taka. He told him to use the money in time of need. The cobbler took the money home. He dug a hole in his hut and kept the money there. But from that night he could not sleep well for fear of thieves. Some days passed in this way. At last he could not bear any longer. He went to the rich man and told him to take back his money. His money had taken away his sleep and piece of mind. The cobbler returned home. He mended shoes and sang merrily as before.
