The Most Expensive Fruit Sold Besides Durian

Have you ever eaten jackfruit? Or have you just seen the shape of the fruit? Or have you never seen or even heard the name of this fruit before?

In short, this jackfruit is commonly found in tropical countries such as Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. This fruit has a very large size than other fruits. Yesterday I wanted to eat a fruit that I haven't eaten in a long time. And when I arrived at the fruit shop, I saw someone selling jackfruit that had been cut into several pieces.

For the price of a jackfruit that has been cut in several parts like the picture above, the price I got was around $2.02 or 30000 rupiah. And for the whole price or 1 large jackfruit, the price starts at $8.4 or around 125000 rupiah.

"Why is this fruit so expensive like durian?"

This fruit can be very expensive like a durian because it can be very large from a durian fruit. Therefore, the first reason why this fruit is very expensive is because its size is very large compared to durian fruit. The second reason when this fruit is split, then there is a lot of flesh inside. That's also why this jackfruit can be expensive.

And the third reason is that this fruit takes a long time to harvest. This jackfruit harvest period, if I'm not mistaken, is once every 8 months. And when the jackfruit is still very small, it must be wrapped as quickly as possible or covered with a large bag such as a sack or other. Why is that? So that the jackfruit does not quickly rot or be damaged before harvest time arrives.

"How about the taste of the fruit? Is it sweet?"

Of course this fruit is very sweet. Not only sweet, but this fruit has a very fragrant aroma. We can feel this fragrant aroma when the fruit is ready to be harvested.

Besides being able to be eaten directly, this fruit is often used as a mixture of foods such as cakes, ice cream, juices, and others. Even this jackfruit is also used as a liquid for vaping.

So, that's why jackfruit has a very expensive price besides durian. Some people also plant this giant fruit in the garden or in front of their house, because this fruit is quite easy to grow and care for. And when their jackfruit is ready to harvest, they can sell it or eat the harvest themselves.
