Cooking in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia, would be less delicious if there was no additional flavoring called monosodium glutamate or MSG. MSG is one of the keys to the taste in cooking which makes food taste more savory and delicious when eaten. Even though too much MSG is very unpleasant in the mouth and it feels very sticky if you give it too much.
