Strange fish walking around with the help of hands!
Not far off the coast of Tasmania, Australian scientists have discovered a rare fish that can be 'hand-operated'. The Pink Handfish is thought to be extinct, but was recently spotted in a marine park off the coast of Tasmania.

Scientists added the fish to the endangered species list for fear of extinction. The last time the fish was seen was in 1999. The fish was recently spotted 22 years later. The fish has been seen four times recently.
A new video captured on a seabed camera shows the fish roaming the open space of the deep sea. Scientists have previously speculated that the fish live in shallow water. But the latest evidence shows that they live at a depth of 390 feet above sea level.
Tasman Fracture Marine Park
"It's very exciting," said Neville Barrett, a marine biologist at the University of Tasmania. Earlier it was thought that the fish was extinct. But now it is known that the fish roams in a lot of space. So the fear about the future of the fish named Pink Handfish has decreased a bit.
In February 2021, Barrett's research team installed a camera at Tasman Fracture Marine Park. Their purpose was to photograph and survey underwater corals, lobsters and other species of fish. Examination of the camera's video footage last October showed a strange creature in a group of large fish floating on the ground at the bottom of the ocean. The fish has two hands !
Instead of fins, these pink handfish have large arms, which they use to hover over the ocean floor. But they also know how to swim. Although there are 14 species of handfish off the coast of Tasmania, pink handfish are very rare.
