Popular social media platform Instagram has announced an updated safety feature. The company says that this new feature will help other users, including popular personalities and public figures, protect themselves from online harassment.

The feature will automatically remove offensive comments on Instagram stories. Instagram made such a decision after a complaint by footballer Ivan Toni. The footballer tweeted that he was the victim of racist attacks on Instagram. He even included a screenshot of the offensive message on Instagram in his tweet.
For a long time, there have been incidents of offensive comments targeting footballers and other players online. Meanwhile, Instagram's parent organization Meta was being criticized for the steps taken to remedy such harassment.
In view of this complaint, Meta says that this incident happened with Evan Tony in Direct Messages (DMS) option. That is the personal space of the app (Private Space). If you don't report it, they can't take any action.
Instagram is highlighting their Hidden Words feature in this regard. This feature filters offensive comments and messages so that users cannot see them.
Now this feature is also used in replying to Instagram Stories. By doing this, if someone makes an offensive comment in the stories, it will be removed automatically.

I wish this applies to every social media platform out there.
