False Hopes
"God will not give you more than you can handle."
"God wouldn't let anything bad happen to you."
We often read some of these statements on the Internet and most of us Christians were eager to share it, kasi nga nakaka-up lift ng spirit, nakakalighten up ng mood at nakakamotivate.
We offer a plate of false ideologies with unbiblical seasonings that fits to the taste of those who will eat what we served. We use different kind of gimmicks, we feed their emotions, we twist what the Scriptures says kahit out of context naman para lang mas maraming tao ang umattend sa church o kaya para lang mas dumami 'yung likes at shares ng mga posts natin.
They prove what the Scriptures really say about Christianity are true—that it is NOT about finding the means of living in wealth according to the standards of this world. But Christianity is a means of living according to the will of God—to deny ourselves, take up our own cross and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24), to flee from any temptations, to resist sin for God gave us a way out of it (1 Corinthians 10:13), to wrestle not against the flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12), to endure any kinds of hardships, persecutions, trials, tribulations and difficulties that we will face as a cost of following Jesus (Matthew 10:22).
Christianity is indeed a TOUGH battle NOT luxury. It is a fight until our very last breath; Spirit vs. Flesh, Holiness vs. Wickedness, Love vs. Anger, Patience vs. Hatred, Humility vs. Pride, and Life vs. Death. But take heart! For there is a Hope, Peace and Joy that comes from Christ alone.
"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
- John 16:33
