The Dinos Don't Look Scary to Me - Matti
It was a surprise seeing dinosaurs on display in SM Seaside a few weeks ago. I was so excited for Matti. I guess moms feel that way always when something new is right in front of us and we can't contain it. We were on the third floor and since we have Matti's stroller so we won't have a hard time carrying him if he doesn't want to walk, we have to take the elevator instead.
From the elevator, we saw the display and I was so giddy to go down already. My husband kept laughing but was also telling Matti about the dinosaurs and such. Matti has never seen a huge dinosaur yet.
Perhaps he had seen those which were printed on his socks and shirts but perhaps he has no idea that dinosaurs are huge species.
The display looked extravagantly and well made. I like how the props, the trees, and the plants, look real like we were in Jurassic Park! But aside from it being real looking, they also were educational.
As we head to the front to take photos, Matti started to stare at the dinosaur. I am not well versed with dinosaurs' names so I just generally call them dinosaurs. Later on, I saw that there were actually labels in each dinosaur display.
This was the view when we arrived, it only says Dinos in the mall and if you have kids, baby, toddler, a little grown up, you'd disregard whatever has been put up there and just proceed with taking photos. I was like that as soon as I found a spot that I think is a good spot to take a photo.
I wasn't contented in fact with the mobile phone. I went on asking my husband for our camera because I wanted to take more quality photos. Thankfully, the husband is always ready with his backpack. I took a couple of shots and then finally, I had the time to look into the dinosaur names.
I have to admit, I only knew T-Rex or Tyrannosaurus Rex. So the prints were helpful for us to identify the dinosaurs. There's T-Rex which is the biggest meat-eating dinosaur that ever lived. It has a thick heavy skull and a long jaw which is used for crushing the bones of its prey.
Triceratops was there behind the huge rock at the back of T-Rex. The name Triceratops means 'three-horned face', it is recognized by its large bony frill, three horns on the skull, and a large four-legged body. But what's being displayed here was I guess a baby Triceratops.
There was also Brachiosaurus which has disproportionately long neck, small skull, and large overall size. Brachiosaurus had longer forelimbs than hindlimbs, which resulted in a steeply inclined trunk, and a proportionally shorter tail.
The Brachiosaurus was at the back part of the display and because of its long neck, Matti wasn't able to see its face clearly. Also, my husband and I were laughing that we couldn't pronounce it well. Thankfully, we saw the Paw Patrol episode where they feature the dinosaurs and Brachiosaurus was mentioned.
Velociraptor or commonly shortened to "raptor" is one of the dinosaur genera most familiar to the general public, it is roughly the size of a turkey.
The last one we figured out was the Stegosaurus. It has unique stalk, tail and plates and is one of the most recognizable dinosaurs. They aren't that huge but they look interesting.
Matti had enjoyed his time at the display. He was pointing the dinosaurs but he couldn't say dinosaur well yet, he refer it as sausausar and we both laughed.
That's it for this blog. Matti spent a few more minutes here until we decided to get him a kite because there were stalls selling kites at the back nearby the elevator.
