The husband's company sent an announcement a few days ago, the good husband missed the announcement as it was posted on a specific channel named five-year club, that's specific to those who have stayed with the company for five years and more. Unfortunately, he muted that channel, for what reason, he was not aware of how and when did he mute it.
He only learned about this announcement when his colleague who's part of his team messaged him on what specific item would he wanted and he had no clue what the guy was talking about.
Finally, after finding the channel and unmuting it, my husband told me that the company had given the five-year club members an incentive as follows:
Php 50,000 for those who are purchasing health or exercise-related stuff
Php 45,000 for those who are purchasing gadgets or electronics
Php 30,000 for those who prefer cash
Before pre-pandemic, this budget was meant for traveling, the first three years were domestic trips then they leveled up to international destinations, Taiwan and Malaysia. We only got to join the Taiwan trip as I was already pregnant in 2020 when they went to Malaysia. This year, they had no trip but the company make it up by converting it to items instead which is a very favorable option for most employees, if not all.
The sad news was that the husband just purchased his Mac Mini around two days ago when he learned this and this was announced more or less the same time he purchased his new computer.
Anyway, he then asked me what items should we buy. I wanted an iPad so we looked into the options and he suggested we get an iPad mini instead which now supports the second generation of Apple Pencil, I had no problem with that and I like smaller tablet screens too, the items he filled up on the form were:
iPad Mini
Apple Pencil 2nd gen
Magic Trackpad for his new Mac Mini
Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad
The form was sent but it was Thursday but James was on leave on that Friday so when HR had messaged him that his preferred iPad Mini color was not available, he wasn't able to reply.
That weekend, we were in Oslob and an unfortunate thing had happened, Matti got a hand of my laptop and took off some of the keyboard keys. I was able to get some back into shape but the ctrl button is now in a bad situation.
So, on Sunday, we decided to get a new Macbook instead and ditch the other items we had thought of. The specs requested was Apple 13-inch MacBook Air M1 Chip with 8-Core CPU and 7-Core GPU with 256 GB Storage which was worth 48,990. The company has a 12% vat discount so the value was lesser. Since we only have a budget of Php 45,000, the rest of the exceeding amount will be deducted from the husband's bonus funds.
On Monday, we were back in Cebu and James got it. I am so happy that I have a new laptop now, much lighter than my current laptop which is a Lenovo Legion Y520, this is already an old laptop, we purchased it in 2017 or 2018 I guess but this has served us very well.
I am still using the old laptop right now, as soon as we reach home in Bohol, I will be setting up the new Macbook Air with the things I needed such as video editing software, it's time to move to Da Vinci Resolve and for the photo editing, my husband recommended Capture One which I have never used at all since I am used to using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
So, that's it. Our Christmas gift arrived a little early! Now, we wait for the company's raffle draw because they also give out very nice items, last year, the grand prizes were curved televisions, huge ones, and gaming laptops.
If you are interested in joining the company, I suggest you check out these positions they are looking for and I bet you, this company is one of the best companies in Cebu for their amazing perks:
