I was born and raised in Guindulman, Bohol, Philippines. It is a fourth class town of Bohol with an approximate population of 32,400. There are 19 barangays in our town namely:

  • Basdio

  • Bato

  • Bayong

  • Biabas

  • Bulawan

  • Cabantian

  • Canhaway

  • Cansiwang

  • Casbu

  • Catungawan Sur

  • Catungawan Norte

  • Guinacot

  • Guio-ang

  • Lombog

  • Mayuga

  • Sawang

  • Tabajan

  • Tabunok

  • Trinidad

I live in Bulawan. So while it is nice to go to another town or island or even country, it is still wonderful to be back in your home base, your home town. That's true even to me. Now, allow me to share with you ten photos featuring my beautiful town of Guindulman!

1. Common Daisy Fields

Let's start with the flowers. My hometown is abundant in these yellow daisies. We can find it on the roadsides, in fact, we have a lot of them in our backyard, next to our house is an empty lot and this one here blooms every day. It's interesting how they can grow abundantly without being taken care of and they provide beauty to the area.

So, seeing these flowers make me always feel at home. I know that when there are flowers like this, it is very near to home!

2. Goats Along the Road and Paddies

One of the livelihoods in our town is farming and it is evident with the many animals that one can see when exploring the town. If I could think of what animals dominates the fields here, it would be goats.

While there are other animals such as cows, carabaos, and hogs, as well as chickens, goats look extra interesting, especially with their young ones just like in the photo above.

They are also low in maintenance, the farmer would just bring the goats to a grassy field and they can be left there through the day grazing. They are explorers themselves too as they go from area to area as long as their leash is long enough to allow them.

3. Rice Farming is a Livelihood

As mentioned, one of our town's livelihoods is farming and because there's a huge area of land as well in our town, rice farming is present. The farmers grow rice three times a year and harvest the same number except when calamities hit the towns such as last year when Typhoon Rai or Odette hit the country.

The image above was taken post-Odette when the farmers had grown new seedlings for planting as the previous ones were just devastated by the typhoon and they can't salvage it anymore.

When traveling in our town, expect to see rice fields all around!

4. Market Scenes

Going downtown, the market is always busy. The best place to get a glimpse of its activities would be the wet market and I tried going there to take photos of the scenes.

I found my "kababayans" or co-Guindulmanon who's selling meat at the market chopping up the meat for a customer.

This friendly pal had even posed for me so I could get a proper photo of himself. Our locals are friendly people!

5. Beautiful Views From the Hill

And it won't take a long ride before one could enjoy the beautiful scenery from a hill. There are many hills that are free to climb and from the top, these kinds of views can be seen.

This one here was at Cabantian Hills. This is also a great place to witness the sun setting or even a sunrise would be perfect as our town is located on the Eastside and a sunrise view happens almost every day as long as its a good weather!

6. Public White Beach Locations

Beach bums and lovers of swimming would truly enjoy it too because we got public white sand beaches! It won't hurt your pocket for sure as most of them are free and all you got to do is show up at the beach!

This one is at Coco White Beach. It has fine white sand, very nice blue waters too and there are rock formations around. The underwater life here is definitely lively!

7. Fish Ponds are Present Too!

But aside from the beach, fish ponds can also be spotted in our town. These fish ponds home Tilapias, some grow milkfish too and shrimps! It is safe to say that we could supply our town with fish every day aside from those caught at the sea.

This one here was a fishpond at the Sun Kissed Resort where guests could rent their boats and can go around paddling in the fish pond. We tried that activity and it was fun!

8. Aesthetically Pleasing Resorts

New resorts are also emerging in town. This one is the Sun Kissed Resort just very near to the town. It has nice and aesthetic lights, it also has a pool which is super clean and very inviting.

One of the things that I enjoy here is the view. It has a wonderful and interesting view of the coconut fields and the hills of the town.

The last time we went here was during my husband's birthday last February, we had dinner and the kids enjoyed the pool again.

9. Rich Underwater Marine Life

I am proud to say that our town is blessed with marine life. The underwater life here in our town is sought after by many divers. Because of the clean seawater, and interesting boulders of rocks at the sides, the view is always nice from above with a drone shot.

This was taken when we visited Coco White Beach. My husband took a photo of us while we were on a boat exploring the view from the sea. It was an unforgettable experience!

We traversed the water, not too far from the shoreline but deep enough for marine life to flourish. The clear blue waters were always pleasing and very much inviting. It is always a good experience going here, thanks to our boatman for allowing us to go around.

10. Guindulman, My Hometown!

Lastly, here's a drone shot of my town. This summarizes everything, from the hills to the ricefields to the sea and the horizon and beyond. Our town is very diverse, it has many interesting things to discover and although I had lived there for at least half of my life, I have yet to explore its entirety.

I am proud to be a Guindulmanon. I aim to explore more of it and share it with you soon!

Thanks a lot for reading and I hope this article had entertained you and that you had learned a lot from my little hometown.
