Embrace My Season

Sometimes, I desire to go out, do some window shopping in the city, and so on but then, I realize that I have a baby who is exclusively breastfeeding, as in direct latch. Sometimes, I think of pumping so I can leave Matti with my parents and I can go out by myself and find get myself some "me" time. Sometimes, I get tired of just being at home, but I also realized that this is my season, and I have to wake up from slumber knowing that my baby won't be this dependent forever, someday, he will grow and he won't need me anymore so I have to just cherish every single time that I am with him. After all, he is the reason why I am at home and not working.

I thought it would be a boring Friday, two of my sister in law are out to the city, somehow, I felt envious that they can leave their babies and that made me a little sad but I am okay now after reminding myself of the above paragraph. These thoughts can't be avoided and I am just thankful that my husband is very understanding, he would remind me too with my season.

My nephew Seth was still following me the entire morning, he got upset whenever he loses track of where I am. He would even throw tantrums when he goes to check on me and he finds out I am no longer in the kitchen or in my parent's room where he last saw me. His mother's back is already hurting from carrying him, he is already 5 years old and he still wanted to be carried, it is as if he thinks he is still two years old.

So before I went to our room, I had some cuddle time with him and told him not to throw any tantrums anymore and to always love his mommy because his father is not with them, he is currently in the UAE.

Somehow, he understood me and when I went to our room in the adjacent building, he didn't throw a tantrum. That's good!

After lunch, my father said he will need to go to the construction site because of some emergency. My mother was coming with him so I said I will go as well. Yesterday, we already joined them just so we could get Matti to sleep. He usually sleeps when he is in the car and true enough, he was knocked out just a few minutes of riding. Today, we go out towards the construction site right after lunch. My father said he has to go there as fast as he can so we prepared real quick and headed out.

As soon as we reached the site, my father inspected the emergency and so they needed to get some backhoe excavator to take some of the fill-up lands in the riprap area as it was putting a lot of weight in the riprap and they notice some movement. This is very important and has to be done right away.

After a short while, as my father needs more time here, I decided to go to Snack Shack to grab some milk tea. We have Matti and Kuya ZM with us and ZM wanted some fries.

Snack Shack offers a lot of options from sweets, milk tea, ice cream, rice meals, to muffins, Leche flan, cakes, and even samgyupsal! They even have baked sushi too! We had been here twice already before and so this was our third time visiting the cafe.

But for today's visit, we just had milk teas and fries. Matti and Kuya ZM ate fries but it was Kuya ZM who ate all of it.

Then we decided to go to the nearby plaza. Jagna's plaza is very lively, there are a lot of people in there as there's a hospital and a church too so it was evident that people coming from both areas would grab themselves some snacks and street foods.

We bought a few cups of kwek kwek, this is a Filipino street food made of quail eggs covered with batter then fried. The kwek kwek is easy to eat in a plastic cup and a toothpick to pick it, it comes with some slices of red onions and cucumber. The sauce is also very delicious, we knew the vendor as he is the husband of our neighbor who now resides in Jagna.

Then, we went back to the site. The backhoe has not arrived yet and so my father has to stay at the site until the evening just to make sure that what needs to be done has to be done today.

Since they are staying longer, I decided to go home as Matti is already sleepy. As we were on our way home, it started raining and we worry about the workers and the riprap itself. I pray that nothing bad would happen.

On the way as my brother is driving, I slept, and Matti too. We just took our time on the road, it takes around 15-20 minutes to drive home.

Upon reaching home, we were greeted by our suki fish vendor who brought again another huge Tangigue, freshly caught by her grandfather. She delivers this to us each time her grandfather gets one. It's Php 380 per kilo and the whole fish was around 5 and 3/4 kilos. We don't have any fish stock in our fridge so I bought the entire fish. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take a photo of it as I was carrying Matti and I immediately went to the room after paying. I even left our take-away muffin in the car!

I messaged my brother to take it out and give it to my husband who is surely hungry right now.

As I am writing this article, my mother had informed me that we need to prepare for the workers' dinner, they will be working overtime tonight. My sister-in-law will be cooking pancit, and other viands good for 20-25 people! I hope I can help but I am looking after Matti.
