ACE Medical Center Bohol Facility Review
A week ago, Matti, my 18 months old baby boy had a fever. As soon as his temperature reached 39.8, I panicked a bit but my husband was more concerned he immediately decided to go to the hospital after Matti threw up.
It was just timely that we were in Tagbilaran City, James was looking for a co-working space so he could get stable internet access. That was why it was easy for us to just send Matti for admission.
While we imagined it to be a smooth admission process, everything came out different from what we imagined, we even regret bringing Matti there. I wrote an article regarding that here: Matti’s Traumatic ER Experience
Today’s topic however is a review of the hospital’s facility.
ACE or Allied Care Experts Medical Center is not new to us, we have been coming here since Matti was still three months old because his pediatrician has a clinic inside the said health care facility. Her clinic is on the third floor, we usually take the elevator to get there and so far, I have seen how clean and very spacious this hospital is. According to the information, I gathered while we were there during admission, the hospital was established in 2014. So, this is still a very new hospital. Compared to the other private hospitals in Bohol, this one is by far I see as having a spacious hallway and clinics are more organized and tidy.
But what about the other areas?
Emergency Room
It was fortunate that when we came for admission, the ER didn’t have any other patients, it was just us after the patient before we were sent to his room. The next batch of patients who came for admission was COVID positive so we were glad that we were on our way to the room when they came. We don’t want to get any contact with those individuals, the nurses also did their precautionary SOP while engaging with them.
But the emergency room was huge, bigger than that in Ramiro Hospital where I was operated on last 2017. The cubicles are also big with a high ceiling and the curtains are tall. However, since we were there at 10 PM, the other side of the room was just dark because I guess they were conserving energy, Bohol just had a power interruption due to the recent typhoon and the hospital was on a power generator instead.
There were also computer sets in different areas of the room, perhaps there’s a specific usage for those computers but I am not certain what.
Admission Room
I had been admitted to two hospitals in my lifetime, one in Chonghua Cebu and the other one was in Ramiro Hospital in Tagbilaran City. So I have some facilities to compare ACE with. So far, I can say that ACE offers the biggest and most efficient private room.
We have enough storage areas to put our bags and things, there were even spaces which we were not able to use. There were three-liter containers, one inside the comfort room where we can throw our disposables, especially those which are contagious. The second is for our food scraps and the third is set for contagious items again. These two were under the closet storage, also covered with wooden doors.
The watcher’s lounge is expandable so we made it into a bed. In the other two private hospitals that I had gone to, their watcher’s space is not even comfortable!
There’s Samsung Smart TV which was very useful because it had kept Matti entertained the entire four days. We used the SmartView feature of the mobile device to mirror the screen to the smart TV. We also made it into a virtual clock through the screen mirroring function.
There was also a mini-refrigerator which we didn’t use. We didn’t get to store any cold drinks or food inside the room though, in fact, I decided to just turn it off on our second day as it was noisy.
As for the patient’s bed, it's the usual reclining type but manual one, still it worked well for us. They provide a pillow which we can take home. Beside the bed is plastic storage which has a section for food trays, medicines, and the like. We didn’t use that often though because, for food, we place everything on the side food table. There’s an ESV Bible too!
Then the comfort room is spacious too with a hot and cold shower which I truly appreciate and enjoyed. I love taking hot showers and so I took showers every single day! There’s also a wide mirror and the kit came with a hygiene set like toothbrush, comb, soap, disinfectant, and tissue.
The only thing that I dislike though was that they arranged us in the center room where we have no window for natural light. I figured after that other rooms have views of the city and that they could let the curtain open for natural light to come in. I believe that if we were assigned to any of that room, Matti would have been entertained with the cars and the commotion outside the building. I wish we were told first hand and I wish we had the option to choose but anyway, that’s okay.
Lobby and Information Section
We usually order food through the Food Panda app and it was always my husband who would go and take the order from the lobby but there was one time when I had to go down. I was surprised to see that the lobby area is huge too! There were still Christmas decorations available and this has a futuristic design with their lounges and the way it was designed.
There were only a few people in there, I saw that the hospital only had a few admissions during that time as the vibe was just chill and relaxed.
Those were the places inside the hospital that I had been to and so far, I could say that the facility is clean, spacious, and the amenities look new and well maintained.
Every single day from morning and in the afternoon, the cleaners and trash collectors would check the room, someone would come to mop the floor while another one is assigned to collect trashes.
I would like to also highlight that food in ACE is so much better compared to that of Chonghua and Ramiro. There was no repeat kind of food in the four days stay that we were there. All of the meals contain fruit and vegetable parts as well as protein. The rice served was also red rice which is better than white rice. The portions and servings are generous too!
Every day, the hospital personnel also gives us a WIFI code valid for 23 hours. This has a fast internet connection but we rarely used it because we have data too. I just used it on the phone which plays YouTube all day long to entertain Matti.
That’s it. So far, both my husband and I were satisfied with the facility although they don’t allow bringing of pillows and blankets for safety purposes.

How's Matti now? Pag ang baby talaga ang may sakit, panick talaga tayong mga mommies. Buti nalang hindi marami ang patients, hindi crowded ang place that time.
