Searching For Peace

Lately, I had been observing lots of animosity between the Bitcoin Cash folks. There is this worrying trend of people attacking each other, friendly Bitcoin Cash folks, just because they have a different opinion. It is so strange because we are humans; we are supposed to have diverse and different opinions but that should not make us enemies. Let’s learn to manage our emotions and be more tolerant of opposing viewpoints.

I was a little bit upset during the BCH/BSV split because we lost some friends that day. Let’s not lose more friends these few months. Indeed, there are some toxic people whom I don’t care much about, but then most people here whom I would like to think have their hearts in the right place. Maybe they had been manipulated or misguided, I don’t know but let’s say I had been misguided, do you think insulting me or calling me a communist would help me change my mind?

One of the reasons I think for such animosity is that there had been many false narratives being promoted. One of such narratives is that without the IFP, there will be no progress. I have heard very convincing case for the IFP but just because someone made a convincing case doesn’t necessarily mean they are correct. The world is full of convincing salesmen. Let’s look at the facts, shall we? Bitcoin started without funding and without IFP and yet it grew from a coin with no value to a high of $20000 US dollars. On the other side of the spectrum, there are already existing coins with funding for the developers and they don’t even make the top 10 rankings, if one were to pay attention, some of these coins keep falling further and further down the rankings. Therefore, without a doubt, the narrative that progress can only be made with funding is factually false.

Let’s try to fight false narratives with facts and data and evidence. Let’s try to manage our emotions better so that we are not a slave to our own emotions. Most of us are in this together in the peer to peer cash for the world movement, despite our differences in opinions and viewpoints. And as we grow bigger as a community, there will be more people and therefore a more diverse set of opinions/views. Let’s cultivate and foster a positive environment from which good debates can be had and backed by data/evidence/facts and less with emotions. Let’s search for peace together.

I agreed with you . We are not supposed to have the same view on this case. Everyone and what he or she thinks will be the best. I don't know that fully of which is the best or not but I just wish the best is chosen at last

the reason for the animosity seems to me is not "difference of opinion" but perception of activity to destroy beloved coin.

I have been considering writing something similar.

Our shared goal is to make our awesome ideas bring prosperity to a huge amount of people, which means we will need to have our community grow. And we are decentralized, and proud of this fact.

A large decentralized group will naturally be very diverse. We share a goal, that doesn't have to mean we must share a lot of other ideas. It is more than Ok for us to come at things from a different angle. You prefer white, I prefer red. Neither is wrong, neither is right.

I love your simple thought expriment as a way to focus on the thing we share: logic and understanding.

But don't be too kind. It is different to have your own ideas and your own thing, compared to asking for a huge donation. In the last case, the ideas must be aligned with the donors'
