Finally, Chelle will be out today from the isolation and she will be in Home Quarantine for the next days. Glory be to God for the strength and protection!
Since I have shared the Covid Journey of Chelle here, let me share to you a few things about her.
Chelle is being with us since November last year, she's just 14 that time but she doesn't look young or at 14. She looks older, maybe because of the many hard labors she has gone through. She is still a student, doing a modular classes and her school is in Cabuaya. We planned to transfer her that time, but did not pursue because the teacher advise that they will just arrange the sending and submission of modules. For being here with us for how many months, I observed and learned a few things about her.
She started working at a young age. They are 7 kids in the family, she has a twin brother and her 2 older sisters married at a young age. She is used of working in the farm since her parents are farmers. She started to work when she was in Grade 5-6 so that she can go to school. She is used to hard labor like carrying a "big basket" through her head ( in our dialect we call it "lukdo") full with squash, coconuts, banana. She sells vegetables in their place too.
She wanted to finish her studies. The main reason why she wanted to work is that she wanted to finish her studies. Although, their family is a recipient of 4Ps program of the government, she finds that it is not enough for their needs. So she decided to be a "Working Student". She was in Grade 9 when she started here with us. I can see her dedication to her studies. Every time her modules would arrive she would really find time to answer those and asks me if she don't understand the instructions or the lesson. I am also helping her as much as I can. I am providing her the needs for her projects as well as printing some documents if needed. Every time her modules, came delayed, she becomes worried. I can see her determination to study and I encourage her to really push through despite the hardships.
She is a loving daughter and sister. I can see how she loves her family. She tells stories about them. And sends some of her allowances to them. She buys some stuffs for her family and brings pasalubong to them everytime she goes home. She becomes emotional sometimes because she misses her family so much.
She is respectful and obedient. I observed that she is respectful to us and to her family. When we reprimand her about something, she would follow it. Aside from that, she do tasks without waiting for us to tell her.
She is a fast learner. When she came here in our place, she doesn't know to operate the rice cooker and other appliances used for daily chores. I give instructions, show her the proper way. She can now do the tasks even without supervision.
She loves our kids. This is the very reason why I also like her, she loves our kids and the kids love her as well. She helps me in taking care of them. She helps in preparing the food, washing their clothes, bathing them and many more.
She is God-fearing. Above all, she is God fearing and she loves to sing church songs here at home. She has a Bible and she loves to read it. We also talk about God's word when there's no work.
For me, Chelle is no longer treated as other people to us. She is now part of the family, that's why I became worried when she does not feel well or okay. We take her with us also in our getaways. I am hoping that she will really finish her studies and will not marry early. I am willing to help her in her journey.
So that's all for today! May each one of you are doing well.
