There is a Military Slogan and let me qoute:

Obey first before you complain.

This slogan is not only applied in a soldier's life but to anyone in the society. It can also be applied anytime and anywhere. It is innate to us to complain. We complain to a system, a procedure, a law, a rule, a service and the likes.

Why do we complain?  Here are the reasons I identified through my personal experience and observation why we complain:

  • We don't like the system. Each of us has our own ideals based on our beliefs, principles, knowledge. Once a system, procedure, rule is introduced or given and it seems not suited to what we believe is ideal, we begin to complain. We tend to have our opinions that this should be like this and that.

  • The system won't work for us. We complain because it seems hard for the system to be complied, it's not seem working for us. One example is for the traffic rules, when crossing roads, there are designated places, a pedestrian lane, an overpass but because we feel that pedestrian lane if far from where we are located, or taking the overpass would need more time, we complain. We complain because it's not working for our comfort zone.

  • We keep on wanting. We cannot be contented of what's provided for us, we keep on wanting more. Instead of appreciating things and people near us, we keep on looking to things not present and sometimes we complain.

  • We are not satisfied with the services. This is common to internet services, phone services, bank services and the like. Whenever we experience lag in internet, the internet speed is not as they promised, we complain. We reason that its our right that to file a complaint because we are paying for it.

But it's a fact also that there are things no matter how we complain and complain, we should really comply, because it is only in complying that you can get the benefit. Let me share an instance in my life.

When I am processing the claim for my Mother's life insurance benefits in various government agencies like GSIS, Pag-ibig I was handed with a long list of of documents to prepare and comply. Some of the documents would require going to attorney, to the division offices, to different various offices actually. It would really require time, effort and money. Being a working mom I can't really work on it 100% and added was the restrictions due to pandemic. My father became impatient and complain. Why are those benefits cannot be claimed right away, when they have deductions when your mother was still working it is outright - some of his statements. But I keep on telling him, complaining would not help us this time, we need to comply so that we could claim it and we need more patience. So, we complied for the requirements, GSIS benefits claimed after almost 8 months of processing considering that I was not able to focus on its processing only and the pandemic restrictions.

Based on that experience, I really realized that complaining would really not help me, what can help me is to comply first, to obey first.

Application in noise and read

This can be applied both platforms. I can see posts complaining on features, tips, rewards, spam and etc. Instead of complaining go back to rules and assess things if you are compliant to it. If you are compliant, then that's the time you can message that talking head nicely about your situation. Continue to be positive and patient in everything.

CONCLUSION

In our daily lives, we are to comply with procedures, rules in the office, home, school, roads, grocery stores and anywhere. Before we complain to those procedures and rules assess ourselves if we are also doing our part. There's no harm in complying first, because in compliance that's the time you can reap the benefits. Choose your battles.

How about you? Are you that person that always complies? or a person that always complains? I would love to know your thoughts about this article.

You got it right. On the other side though, complaint is one way of voicing out what is wrong especially when it is taken as an optimistic criticism.

Yes I completely agree with you. People or companies would not really know our side if we will not voice out. complains actually have a positive and negative side depending on the situation.
