Here are some more photos of our ginger tabby. He was the kitty from my previous post. As you can see, he has a long tail, so this is Wingwing a.k.a. (also known as) Royalcat! We changed his name because he got sick and they said if we changed it, he'd get better..😬 Of course, that's just a superstition. But we did it anyway to complement his brother's name, Orangely. Their name sounds like the soft drink 'Royal True Orange'...😆
Royalcat didn't seem to be hungry and didn't want to eat and already looking weak. And this made us really worried but we couldn't afford to see a vet, so I just examined him... I discovered that he had a mouth ulcer. I was unfamiliar with cat anatomy, physiology, and diseases, so I did some research. I read that mouth ulcers could be caused by teething problems. He wasn't used to eating solid foods, since he was still sucking milk from his mother cat when my husband took him. Unlike Orangely who had been weaned earlier, so he had no issues with teething. Royalcat had also a habit of biting anything that could have severed and punctured his gums. There are viruses too that may cause illnesses in cats, such as Parvovirus, calicivirus, and others. And so, they must need to have the jabs... but our kitties are still too young, so I just bought an antibiotic medication, multivitamins and a rehydration solution for Royalcat. During noontime, I took him out to our veranda to get some sunlight and fresh air.
Actually, in this picture, he's still sick. He's quiet and not moving much unlike his brother that he jumped and ran around the house. After one week of treatment, Royalcat was already well. Thanks too to the blue sky and white clouds... they've been really therapeutic even to a cat... especially, the sunshine which had provided him warmth everyday and strengthen his body.
Nature does, in fact, offers natural healing. And even, by simply watching the sky everyday can heal... like on this picture, even a cat enjoys gazing at the clouds.

Recently, I stated that happiness in this world is primarily based on transient things that will leave us with an empty heart. However, if we put God first in our lives and express gratitude, happiness will become real... The seemingly insignificant things around us will then become significant and appreciated, bringing us lasting joy. 😊
It was a beautiful, warm and lovely day on those pictures that I snapped last Feb 24... The sight of those puffy cotton-like clouds above floating against the vast ocean of the bright blue sky, with my orange kitty below playing with the pink bougainvilleas in the foreground, summed up my happiness that day...🌥️🐈 The feeling was really wonderful! And so, I grabbed my camera to capture each fleeting moment with a click. I know that these kinds of unexpected, amazing moments don't happen every day, and I want to remember them when I look through my gallery.
And with a grateful heart, I thank the Lord, that despite the hardships of this world, God makes a way to cheer us with the available resources that is around us. So, wherever we are, whatever our status in life, we must not look and dwell on those that hamper us, but rather be grateful and look for the possibilities.
In those photos, I look beyond the grill fence and the dangling electric cables that block my view to appreciate the beauty of the sky. Instead of impeding me and making me complain, I thank the Lord that even in this small space, I can still get a good glimpse of the sky.

March is "Women's history month..." And yesterday, March 8th, was the celebration of "International Women's Day..." So, once again, I hope, I'm not too late to wish all the ladies here a "Happy Women's Day!"
And so, it's just good to talk about women for a while.👩 Sharing to you some photos of flowers from my gallery that I've taken at various times.🌻 I hope they're still as gorgeous as they were when I snapped them. Since antiquity, flowers have long been depicted as a symbol of femininity. Why?🤔Because they represent a woman's beauty and loveliness! Furthermore, a woman's docile and gentle nature is likened to the delicate nature of flowers. Women of various races, like flowers of different colors, are as beautiful in their own ways as the roles they play in society.
There's an old adage that says a woman is the driving force behind a man's success. That's correct... Woman has been created by God for man to have a helpmate. Just imagine if man is all alone? Of course that would be lonely...😬 And true, for it says in Genesis, that God saw man to be lonely, that it wasn't good for him to be alone, and must need a companion. So God created woman by taking out one of Adam's ribs. Cloned from Adam's rib... (you see, God performed the first surgery and cloning even in the beginning of the world... and for those who don't believe in God here...😁 hehe, of course this would be another topic), so continuing with Eve's creation from Adam's rib, this then implies that a woman would have to be his 'life partner,' who would always be beside him, and neither above nor below him. Though, she wouldn't be his total equal, for a woman is the "weaker vessel". Yeah, woman is weaker, whether we admit it or not for this
can be seen in her anatomical structure, as a woman's body is not as strong as a man's. That is why there is a separate category in Athletics for example, there's a men's basketball and women's basketball team, and so on with other sports. With this distinction, man is instructed to love her as his own because she was a part of him, the soft and fragile part of him, but strong enough to carry and take care of his offsprings.😀
You see, just like the'mighty mitochondria,' that serve as the cell's powerhouses, women serve as the home's sources of light and strength. This metaphor extends further, biologically, in fact, mitochondrial DNA are only passed down by the female species to her offspring, both male and female. However, the male does not pass them down. Hence, the mitochondrial DNA in males are derived from their mothers.
This shows the great influence that a mother has to her children. She is the queen of the home from which everyone draws strength and inspiration. The queen in chess, like the bee queen, wields the most powerful rule in their domain. Even the housewife, in the book of Proverbs, has command of the household. That is how important women's roles are in our society.
So, ladies, regardless of your status, whether you are career-oriented, home-bound, or stay-at-home moms, we are all the same. Cheers!🥂

Happiness is like love which is a many splendored things... It's a multifaceted phenomenon... One is, it could be personal which is based on what you are as a person. So the introvert is content to be alone, he enjoys being in solitude whereas the extrovert does not. Another is it's based on your needs, wants or desires, as well as your security, health, wealth, dignity or honor, on your relationships, career, status or power and a variety of other factors. In a nutshell, happiness has to be based upon something... However, we are unaware that this kind of happiness is only shallow. It's not permanent. It's not long term. It isn't sustainable in the long run. And, in the end, we're still left with a sense of emptiness...😌 That is why, in his quest for happiness, man has devised a plethora of theories and studies, but found not the answer.😟
Solomon, the wisest King has been right when he wrote in the book of Ecclesiastes that all things is vanity under heaven...

I just wanted to share these photos of Chico fruits that were harvested from the orchard of my husband's cousin in Bulacan. They have a lot of fruit-bearing trees there. One of them is the Chico tree.🌳
My husband brought home a basket full of unripe fruits. We wrapped them in newspaper and placed them in a box. They were brown and hard. The fruits have already ripened after only two days, that was extremely fast!😀 The color is still brown, but when you press it, it is soft, indicating that they are already ripe. The flesh is light brown on the inside, and if you cut them in half, you can see the seed, which is large and black. There are two to four seeds inside. We simply scoop the flesh with a spoon and eat it. The flavor was so deliciously sweet that you couldn't stop eating it.😋
Chicos are one of my favorite local fruits, but we rarely eat them because they are rarely seen in the market, unlike the imported fruits such as oranges and apples, which are always available.
I recall vividly the Chico tree in our front yard when I was a kid. My brothers and I even climbed up on it. It had a lot of branches that were sturdy and fun to sit on and be tossed in the air when it was windy. That was like our secret hideaway where we ate junk foods and drank soft drinks in plastic so our father wouldn't see us. When I told my son about it, he said that he and his brother haven't even tried the fun of climbing up a tree... Oh poor boy! So I told them we'd plant the seeds. Of course, it will take years before it matures into a large tree, but at least we've made a start. That's better than nothing. Someday, their children will be grateful and happy that we planted a tree for them to climb and harvest fruits from...
I was curious, however, if this Chico is known by other names in other countries. So I asked Mr. Google what's all about this Chico and here's what I've learned which I'll summarize briefly. The scientific name is Manilkara zapota. Other names for it include sapodilla, naseberry, and nispero. Chico is rich in carbohydrates and dietary fibers, making it a very nutritious food. It is high in minerals like potassium and calcium, and loaded with Vitamin C.
The tree is a long-lived evergreen that can only be found in warm tropical climates. So it's a tree that thrives in the sun!🌤️ And the bark is high in "chicle," a white, gummy latex that is traditionally used in the manufacture of chewing gums. Isn't that fascinating?😮 So, those gums we chew are made from barks, which I had no idea about until now. Furthermore, the leaves have medicinal properties that are anti-diabetic, and hypocholesterolemic (cholesterol-lowering)and rich in antioxidants.
The most remarkable aspect of this Chico is its seed, which contained Acetones with antibacterial properties against strains of Pseudomonas oleovorans and Vibrio cholerae. Hmm... 🤔 It seems that this Chico has been extensively studied. What we only know as the ordinary fruit and tree is not ordinary after all!
So much about Chico,... But, lastly, here's a quote on planting trees from a ― Chinese proverb,

Being awake all night and unable to sleep until the break of dawn, especially with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee☕ floating in the air... waiting for 'Haring Araw' (King Sun) to rise first from his chamber was the best next thing to do.🌄
With one hand holding my mug of coffee and the other holding my phone...📱 Oh, I forgot to take a pic of my coffee with 'Haring Araw'... Yay! Next time, I'll offer his majesty a cup of coffee and take a snap.😬 I leaned against our window and looked out with my gaze fixed on the eastern horizon. I could hear birds 🐦 chirping...🎶 but couldn't see any of them flying above the housetops.🏘️ There were no clouds visible in the lower troposphere either. I'm just wondering where they've all been all night as their party queen 'Luna' was not yet full but still on her waxing stage.🌙
The golden hour had begun in a matter of minutes, and 'Haring Araw' was already greeting me with a warm 'good morning' with its crepuscular rays bursting and beaming brilliantly.🌞 It was dazzling and blinding so I had to avoid looking at it directly.✨ I just pointed my camera forward and clicked and clicked. And finishing my mug of coffee on the window sill while basking in the sunlight for a few minutes longer to get my dose of Vitamin D. After gulping the last drop of my coffee, 'antok' (sleep) knocked me out.
I returned my gaze at 'Haring Araw' to bid him farewell as I yawned closing the curtain and setting my alarm clock for noon time...🥱
Nothing really feels as good as having a "light therapy' before dozing off to slumber land. Now, I understand why our furry kitties love to soak in the sun sleeping soundly🐈 and why others would want to take a hot bath and drink a hot tea before hitting the sack.😴

For a change, I just wanted to share these photos that my husband sent me. I find them fascinating so I thought of sharing them here. Last Sunday, hubby went to see his cousin's farm in Bulacan and saw these ducks on a creek. 🦢 He remembered how much I enjoyed nature, so he took photos of it for me. Last year, he sent me a photo of a mother duck with her ducklings near the same creek.🐥 Bulacan is a province close to Metro Manila with plenty of farmlands, creeks, and fishponds. His father was born there, and so hubby wishes to return to his father's hometown and acquire a farming land as well.🏞️🌴
Speaking of these ducks... 🦢
It was wonderful to see them lined up under the shade of a bamboo tree along the creek, with their reflections in the water. They were so lovely to look at. 😍 You can see that they have social distancing...😬
However, I was just wondering what these ducks were saying to each other, "Quack, quack, quack, quack," or what are they thinking?🤔 Hmm...
Perhaps they're discussing how violent humans are, and how stupid they are to kill one another. How humans are selfish, not satisfied with the resources they have, and crave more, even if it means forcibly obtaining their neighbor's property. How humans are paranoid, perceiving their neighbor as a threat. How humans are hateful and lack empathy for their fellow humans who are in hunger and suffering. The list is lengthy... These ducks then finally fell in silence and stared at their reflection in the water below, possibly thinking to themselves, "It's a good thing we're not humans... otherwise, we'd be fighting for nothing."😁

It's been a while since I posted a sunset.🌇 Sunsets here aren't stunning every day, and I'm often unable to head outside and peek at the sky. However, I was fortunate to see a spectacular one last month, but forgot to post it. So, here's my sundown pics from last February 8 at 6 p.m. Despite the dark and drab stratocumulus clouds, sunbeams managed to skip and reflect beautiful colors above the western horizon. And some jagged fractus clouds have just formed near the hazy setting sun, resembling animals seated around a campfire.🔥 Despite the overcast sky, it was a truly breathtaking sight. And I couldn't help but be enthralled by it and took shots! I'm sharing it now because I remember something similar I posted about a cloud formation of my 'bonfire' full moon' last time.
Well, these clouds, infact are the ones that make a significant difference in creating dramatic sunsets because they serve as canvases on which the hues from the sun's reflection are displayed, as well as the formations that add a story twist.
In that image, I could see forms of a tortoise,🐢 a lion,🦁 a cow,🐮 a scorpion🦂 and an elephant🐘 as if they were having a meeting and discussing something.
I'm not sure what they've been up to, but they seemed to be planning a major event for the end of the month. And, indeed, a war had erupted...😏
We don't really know what the future holds for us and all we can do is pray to the Almighty to save us and deliver us from our earthly woes. Why does God allow wars to occur? Because man is not a robot, God has given him 'free will' to do whatever he wants. And Humanistic psychology is right, In stating that free will exists and that we have the capacity to choose and control our actions. We are, however, accountable for the consequences of our deeds. Yay!😔
Praying for world peace...🙏 for our world leaders to have enlightenment... especially for those people afflicted and suffering right now from the ravages of war.

Aside from our kitties, I'd like to introduce you to one of our other house pets...
This is Brownie, our pet dog, when she was still a puppy.🐕 Her story is truly an amazing one!😀 She is our family's very first dog pet... Actually, the kids weren't fond of dogs, so having Brownie in our lives was purely coincidental. Brownie entered our lives in December of 2020, when we had just moved here in our old house in the biggest barangay. One busy day, while we were repairing our gate and installing tiles on the flooring, an elderly neighbor came over. She was carrying a pail containing three little puppies.🐾 They came in three variety of colors including black, brown, and light brown. She offered to sell us one. We didn't really want a dog, but seeing the adorable puppies warmed and melted our hearts...😍 The chubbiest of them all was the brown puppy... And we fell in love with her already the moment we saw her!😚 So we've bought chubby brown🤎 for about 100 Philippine pesos (approximately $2 USD) and named her Brownie because she was a female puppy. We've fed her milk and gave her all the love she needed, including our two-month-old kitty, Graya, who became Brownie's little nanny, staying by her side even when she was sleeping and getting to play with her. Brownie stole our hearts as she stole our slippers...😁 and licked our faces as well as our flip flops...🥰
The more she became adorable, the more she filled our home with love...💞
And, despite how dull and stressful life can be during a pandemic, she made us all laugh with her antics and charms! Indeed, as Bernard Williams, an English moral philosopher whose known for his published writing such as the 'Problems of the Self', says

It's been a while since I posted about flowers... I just wanted to share these lovely blooms that I came across during a stroll through the neighborhood last month. I used Google Lens to identify these flowers in order to determine their true names. And, yeah, I wasn't mistaken they are species of Zinnia. These are Zinnia elegans which are commonly called 'youth-and-age', 'common zinnia' and 'elegant zinnia'.🌼
What's amazing with these Zinnias is that they bloom or bear different pretty brilliant colors per one long stem. They're easy-to-grow, heat-tolerant annuals which are low-maintenance and don't require special attention or conditions. They just need lots of sunshine and good soil.🌤️ And to those who have pets, we are rest assured that they aren't toxic. Interestingly, Zinnias are edible.😋 They can be cooked, use as side dish in salads, and decorations in cakes and drinks. Now, this flower is on my top list to plant since summertime is approaching.
Another interesting fact about this pretty bloom is why it is called Zinnia. It means Zinn's flower, named after the 18th-century botanist Johann Gottfried Zinn.
Of course, it's fascinating to learn about the symbolism of this flower as well. Knowing it gives us more positive vibes in addition to the exuberant display of beauty in our surroundings, which elevates our mood. Zinnia is traditionally associated with friendship, endurance, daily remembrance, goodness, and long-lasting affection.💓 The most common meanings for the zinnia are "thoughts of friends or thoughts of a missing friend."😔
In light of what is currently happening with our friends in the warzone who are suffering from the ravages of war, I'd like to offer them this post of beautiful Zinnia flowers as my tribute and thoughts of sympathy and care...💕 They may not know it, but they are deeply thought...🙏 I hope and pray that, like the tough Zinnia flower, they may have the long-lasting 'endurance' to prevail and overcome the difficulties they are currently facing. Let us remember them daily in our prayers... May our Almighty God shower them with His mercy and love.

Here is another cloud formation that I saw during the "Snow Moon" last February 16 after my post of "dragon head" moon photos. I call this cloud formation as "bonfire moon" photo because the image there looks like a bonfire with the moon in the center as the fire and there are images that look like animals seated around it. I can see a snake, pig, sheep, rabbit, rat, dog, tiger, horse, dragon... Now, I know why the Chinese have animals in their lunar calendar...😁
Well, this has really made me curious as to how the animals in the Chinese Zodiac calendar started... And so, I asked Mr. Google and I came to know that there was a tale about the origin. In ancient times, one of the Chinese gods, the Jade Emperor wanted animals to be included in the lunar calendar. And so he invited the animals to participate in a race... The twelve animals who have arrived first were given a name of the zodiac and given a rank number based on their order of arrival. The very first who arrived was the rat, next was the ox and so on... Each animal represents a year. Every year the animal changes in the calendar at the start of the Chinese new year and rotates every 12 years.

And we'll, each animal also is thought to have a representation and symbolism for those born on that particular year. This year 2022 is the year of the tiger and it is believed that those born in this year were have the qualities of a tiger such as courage and bravery.🐯

Catching up on 'love' since it's still February, the 'love month'... When you see a baby,👶 you can't help but find yourself filled with smiles and giggles...🥰

These are photos of newborn babies taken during my clinical clerkship not long ago in the Pediatrics department of a government hospital in Manila🇵🇭. It was one of the 'rotations' that I really loved most during my training because it was held in a public hospital, where we could get hands-on experience that we couldn't have in private hospitals.
As you can see, there were two babies in one cart because there were so many mothers giving birth in that hospital so the carts were no longer sufficient. When one baby cried, the others followed and the nursery would be filled with shierks and crying babies!😁😃 However, they were so cuddly cute and lovable😍 that I just couldn't resisted taking a picture of them.😁

Gotta catch up on a Caturday and on "National Cat Day" which was celebrated last February 17th in Italy, Brazil and Poland... Whew! Again, I hope I'm not yet too late as this 'Cat day' will still be celebrated on February 22 in Japan and March 1 in Russia!

"Orangely! Wingwing!" Oh, which is which? Who is who?🤔
Yeah, we now have two orange kitties! Orangely was the first little kitty to arrive here last January. We called him Snowranger at first, but he got sick for several days with IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, so we changed his name to Orangely, which was the name of our old ginger cat years ago. as we changed his food as well, from sardines into cooked chicken meat (adobo).😋 Ever since then, he didn't get sick anymore... And he gained weight!
Last week, another orange kitten has arrived! He was actually Orangely's cat brother. They have another sibling which was colored gray. My husband saw these kitties in his workplace last December. He even took a picture and a video of them and sent it to us. They were so adorable that we fell in love with them at first sight!😍 However, they were evicted from the building they were staying, and so he took Orangely first, leaving the other two kittens with their mother cat. We've planned to take all the kitties. But my husband, on the other hand, was unable to locate and capture them. Until he saw them sleeping in a sack outside one night. And unfortunately, during the coldest days of January, they discovered little Gray who didn't survive the cold. Poor kitty...😔 We were really sad about him... and so heartbroken...💔
So, the kids told their Dad to take the other orange kitten home. My husband spent a week looking all over the place to find and catch him. And when he'd seen him, he brought him home. The boys were really overjoyed to see another orange catto!😀 We were excited to see Orangely's reaction when he saw his twin brother... He stared at him the whole time, watching and following him and didn't leave him alone. Wingwing, as my husband referred to our new ginger kitty because at first he thought he was a female, was initially aloof and hostile to Orangely and even to us. But after two days, he became gregarious and affectionate!☺️
Now, our two ginger tabby kittens are inseparable and become best friends!🐈🐈
They eat, play, and sleep together and even when they pee and poop...💩 Of course, they both have the M markings on their foreheads and they're so cuddly and adorable!😻
However, one of them has a short tail... Can you guess, which one it is?
These two ginger kitties, like their color really bring sunshine and warmth into our home. We are so lucky to have them...

Last night was the full moon of February. It was dubbed as the "Snow Moon" because of the heavy snowfall during this month in the northern regions of the world during their winter.❄️
I looked outside our window in the eastern sky where the full moon was, however the sky was blanketed with thick, dark clouds which were moving rapidly, as if a rain was on its way.🌨️ However, the moon was brightly beaming in a peek-a-boo with the altocumulus and altostratus clouds which were forming different shapes as they passed by. 🌕☁️ I took photos and even a video of the moon as it appeared and disappeared through the clouds from time to time... The moon was magnificent but the dark clouds that surrounded it, cast an eerie spell!😳
As you can see from my photos, one formation the clouds made was like the head of a dragon🐲 with the moon as its 'eye!' I was quite terrified... We often hear about frightening stories during a full moon which made me tremble a bit! Tonight's full moon was really unusual, there were no howling of dogs to be heard, but the atmosphere was strange! Nonetheless, I recall a Bible verse that the moon should not be feared, so I gathered my thoughts and just stood there watching the moon played hide and seek with the clouds. It was then that I noticed several other stunning and fascinating formations the clouds made! The books of Psalms was written by King David. You see, David was a shepherd boy before he became king. He was always out in the fields, tending to his father's flock.🐑Oftentimes, he stayed there until night and slept out in the open under the sky. He wasn't afraid of being alone in the wild outdoors.🏕️ Why would a young David be in the meadows when he would one day become king? Isn't he supposed to be in training in the palace rather than working in the pasture? Actually, David was not expected to be king because he was the youngest, rather the oldest child would have been... But the blessing befell him because he found favor in the eyes of the Lord! What was it that he did that caused God to be so pleased and delighted with him?🤔 David had a pure, trustworthy, and courageous heart...💙 His situation being a shepherd didn't discouraged or scared him but rather, he believed and trusted God for his life and safety. He looked up at the night sky, watching the sunset, moon, stars and clouds... and these served as inspiration for him! He composed poetry and music. But these weren't worldly, lonely, or destructive sentiments rather, they were inspired by his acknowledgement of God's majesty, that it was God Who created all these heavenly bodies! And so, he worshiped the God of heaven and earth, rather than His creations. He found refuge and comfort in the Creator, and he was not afraid of anything he encountered. So God loved this shepherd boy and turned him into a king.👑
What a wonderful source of inspiration for all of us! I always tell this story about David to my sons to encourage them not to be afraid... and to do whatever task they've been assigned while not thinking highly of themselves. Because God favors those who are lowly and humble in spirit!😇 And no matter what situation we are in, no matter how difficult or low a job we have, God will bring us up to the pinnacle of our career at the appropriate time! Instead of murmuring and complaining, we must strive to do our best, be grateful and maintain a cheerful attitude.😀

This afternoon, I heard thumping feet🐾 and rustling leaves🌿 from the "langka" or (jackfruit) tree next to our old house.🏡 When I looked out our window, I noticed a gray catto climbing up the tree!🐈 Graya, our kitty, looked just like it.... But this is our neighbor's male cat. I stood there watching as it scaled the tree. I photographed it and even videoed it as it ascended and descended the tree later.
I was just amazed by the agility and flexibility of these cats. They, like monkeys, are adept climbers. So I decided to look up how and why cats climb trees and other high structures on Google. According to what I've read, cats love high places because they want to explore and observe their surroundings from a higher perspective. They aren't scared of heights, instead they simply like walking and playing above buildings and houses to enjoy the panoramic view below. They prefer to sleep on top of tall objects because it makes them feel more comfortable and relaxed without being disturbed.
Their ability to climb is linked to their ability to jump. Their back and hind leg muscles are strong, and they have long, sharp claws that they use to grip objects when climbing.
They simply feel secure and unharmed when they are on higher ground, avoiding and hiding from attackers or predators. That's why, when they're being chased, they run, jump, and climb up a tree or a wall.
Cats are cats by instinct and nature, but they teach us humans some valuable lessons.
To be safe, we should seek refuge on higher ground, as the cats do. That is, when we are confronted with various problems in life, we should flee and climb the wall of faith!😇
We should not stay and dwell in places where we will be overwhelmed by doubt and fall into the abyss of despair, but rather strive to reach the lofty planes of faith. For it gives us the assurance and comfort that we are protected and secure from all of life's danger.
So, keep that leap of faith, Noisemates...😊

This was my sunrise yesterday which was really a splendid and spectacular one! The first break of dawn was already visible as the sun rose slowly. Its golden dome glowed softly half above the horizon. 🌄
There were the stratocumulus clouds suspended in the lower trophosphere, now moving and transforming slowly, so awake from their deep slumber after their revelry with the moon last night.🌥️
The birds had also awoken , and now you can see them flying around gleefully, enjoying the soft sunlight.🕊️ You can also hear their melodious chirping!🎶 At a distance, I can hear the noisy barkings of dogs🐕 and the harmonic crowings of roosters🐓 "cock-a-doodle-doo", also the squall cry of a baby.👶
So, it seemed that everyone had risen up except for our cat and the boys. With the weather at 24 °C, they're still cozily dreaming under the warmth of their blankets.💤
And I, who had been awake all night, decided to wait first for the sunrise to behold its wonder and beauty before hitting the sack. Now for a few moments, I was enjoying listening to all the commotions outside and watching the birds hovering above in the coolness of the morning, while clicking in a frenzy to capture them in my camera.
After a few minutes, the sun now was fully up, its lower dome was above the horizon radiantly beaming its crepuscular rays outwards. The clouds were gradually dissipating, giving way for the sun's beams to shine through. The birds were already out of sight, possibly dazzled by the sun's rays. Except for the sounds of cars passing by, the outside noise was already muffled.
And I, after feeling the warmth of sunlight seeping through my skin and getting my dose of Vitamin D, I have now retreated to get a few hours of sleep before lunch time. This was not actually my daily routine as not everyday the sun rises brilliantly, there were mornings that are really gloomy.
Regardless of how the morning looks, we thank God that another day has arrived, giving us the opportunity to live our lives anew and start afresh. It's then up to us to decide how we will greet the new day with gladness and gratitude in our hearts, whether it is dreary or bright, it doesn't matter, as long as it is a brand new day!
For we know that dark days won't last, so as the golden days. But our spirit through the power of our minds, can alter a cloudy day into a sunny one. So it really depends on our outlook. Hence, noisemates, keep a positive attitude and everything else will fall into place.
I'm going to leave you with this beautiful verse from the book of Proverbs...

A week ago, a neighbor called me. I was wondering why... She said there was a butterfly in the bougainvillea flowers. Okay, all right! So I quickly grabbed my phone and dashed outside. My neighbors had seen me taking pics of the sky, flowers and looking for insects as subject so now they know I'm fond of photographing nature and the butterfly might pique my interest.😀
I was overjoyed to spot a butterfly! Although I'd previously photographed butterflies inside the house, this was my first shot of a real butterfly perched on a flower sucking nectar.
One was when my mother died, there was a yellow butterfly on the last night of her wake, and I photographed it with a film camera because that was the 1990s. The butterfly was out of the ordinary, being so large and yellow and dancing, flapping rapidly as it flew over my father who was sleeping. So, I thought, perhaps my mom sent the butterfly to bid her last farewell to my dad.
There are numerous superstitions surrounding butterflies, such as the belief that if you see one inside your home, a deceased relative has paid you a visit. I don't believe it is the person's spirit, perhaps it was only sent in order to console the bereaved. You see there are the angels, who are God's messengers!😇
So, I attempted to identify this type of butterfly using Google Lens. And success! It was known as a Common Lime or Lemon butterfly...
The lime, which serves as its host plant, gave rise to its name. It is, without a doubt, a very beautiful butterfly with its stripe or chequered pattern of black, brown and blue colors, (hence its other name, Chequered Swallowtail) but it is considered a pest! Why?🤔 Because of the devastation caused by its caterpillars, they devour the leaves of lime plants such as calamansi.
According to what I've read, lime butterflies are frequently sighted during the 15-day Lunar New Year celebration. I checked the watermark on my photograph and discovered that it was taken on February 2nd of this year. So, while we don't celebrate this event, it's amusing to see the coincidence. So, what if you happen see them on the Lunar New Year? It is said to bring good fortune! Really...🤔 Haha!😂 Well, if I don't work and don't post on Noise, I won't get any good lucks, er, satoshis! Isn't it? So, guys, make some noise before you believe... As they say, "to see is to believe!" 😬🤣

The other day, I was craving for an icecream as I was looking at my 'ube twilight sky' pics.🍦Well, it seemed that my wish has come true! Oh my goodness! "Mababaw na kaligayahan" (Happiness is only shallow)...😬
This afternoon, as I was checking on the sky and flowers from our veranda, my gaze was drawn to something else. Our neighbor across the street was putting up a box and a tarpaulin advertisement of something infront their store. What could it possibly be?🤔 I went down to inquire about it, "naki-Marites"...!😬 Haha!🤣 (Marites is the term used to describe someone in the Philippines who is 'curious' and wants to know what's going on around the neighborhood, such as asking what's the latest).
And, oh well, it turned out that they're putting up a fridge for a particular brand of ice cream to sell! Wow! So it seemed that I won't have to travel any farther to buy. The brand was not as well-known as Selecta or Magnolia, but considering the much lower price, I believe it was not that bad after all! 😄
Unfortunately, there was no 'ube' flavor available. Yay! They did, however, have this chocolate-covered vanilla and milk ice cream. It looked mouth watering!😋 So I bought three right away, one for myself and two for the boys. One only costs about 20 pesos (or $0.40)... Not bad to quench and cool yourself in a hot weather! In all fairness, the flavor was quite pleasant. It's really delicious! It's just that the boys weren't satisfied with one and demanded more ice cream so I had to go out and buy another.
Oops, it looks that my coins will be jeopardized as a result of this ice cream frenzy!😬 Haha!😂
We also have here a local ice cream called 'sorbetes' or 'dirty ice cream' that is sold by a vendor who roams around town with his bell and cart. When you hear the sound of 'cring cring'🎶 you know that 'Manong Sorbetero' (Ice cream man) is already on the streets nearby. Sorbetes is particularly tasty when served with a bread. This is very popular here in the Philippines, it appears that every kid in the neighborhood eats 'sorbetes' and anyone who doesn't know what a 'sorbetes' is, is a liar!? 🤣Joke! However, due to the pandemic, we rarely see one around.

Well, on continuation of that bright sunlit afternoon before the golden hour in my previous post... Here's the twilight of that day! The sky turned out to be a very colorful palette of mellow hues of purple, pink, peach and bright yellows which blended harmoniously. Just after the sun dipped down below the horizon, the last rays of sunlight glowed radiantly upwards into the trophosphere and reflected into the stratus clouds causing the sky to look like an 'Ube Icecream'!😍 'Ube' is a Filipino term for a purple-colored yam that is commonly used as a flavoring for a delicious local ice cream or cake... Yum yum!😋 Just imagining the sky as a yummy 'Ice cream' has already made me salivating and craving for one! Hehe..😬 Now, I know why Owl City sang "Vanilla twilight". The sky is certainly as lovely and creamy as a scoop of vanilla ice cream! 😍
Have you already heard Vanilla Twilight? This was released in 2010 by Adam Young, an American singer, songwriter and musician who created Owl City in which he is mostly known for his electronica and techno-pop songs.

Due to the dark clouds on that afternoon as seen on my previous post, I expected it to rain again, but surprisingly, after a few minutes, 'Haring Araw' (King Sun, as what we, Filipinos call the sun, and not just plain mister!)😁 suddenly burst out radiantly.☀️
The sky was like a theater, where the curtains closed after a dark stage of a stormy show, then slowly opened (drum rolls) to a grandiose show of dazzling lights... ✨ ushering lovely colors and life to the atmosphere. The stratocumulus clouds have just vanished and now replaced by cumulus humilis clouds which are the fair weather cumulus species loved by the sun dearly. The cool, breezy afternoon brought on by the rain a while ago had turned out to be sultry and humid once more. However, those bright fluffy clouds☁️ had adorned the sky so beautifully! And, 'Haring Araw' behind them, beamed out its crepuscular rays brilliantly, displaying the blueness of the firmament... Such a magnificent view!😀
As usual, I couldn't get my head out of the clouds...😁 A puppy was staring at me directly! Take a look at my photos from the third to the last one. The cloud in the center slowly formed two cute eyes, a nose, and a mouth, resembling a dog's face.🐶 Oh, what a sight to behold!🤓 Cloud formations change quickly, but this one lasted 3 minutes for me to enjoy! Suddenly, my hyperactive ginger kitty🐈 appeared out of nowhere and jumped onto the pavement of our old patio, of course, my camera didn't miss it! He looked like he wanted to play with a puppy...🥰
Anyway, I hope these photos brightened your day as well! You see, weary days don't last long... So, whenever you're feeling drained and sad, and your situation is unfavorable, remember that everything is temporary. Let us all lift up our concerns and trials to GOD. He, like the sun, will simply pour out His blessings on us. Of course not as quickly as we would like. We should be patient, pray for wisdom, and wait.

This is how the sky looked like after the rain stopped the other day, gloomy and foreboding... The scattered stratonimbus clouds sailed slowly across the western sky. Suddenly, the head of a dino cloud☁️ appeared, its mouth wide open and roaring fiercely... Rarw! 🦖 Of course, my camera caught it... 📸 until it crossed the vast sky to the other side and vanished in a flash. The sky never ceases to amaze us as long as we take the time to look at it closely...😍 Despite how bleak and dreary it appears, we can still find beautiful things in it.
So it is with real life, no matter how dark it is or how painful our experiences have been, there are still some beautiful things from which we can draw and learn. All we have to do is recognize them. So, don't be bored and feel dismayed if your situation turns out differently than you expected. Life isn't always a bed of roses and sunshine. Downpours and dark angry clouds will always be present. However, do not be disheartened, instead, use your umbrella☔ of high hopes and your camera 📸 of inspiration as armor against boredom and despair...😟 and put on that smile,☺️ because life, after all, is like the weather.

This morning on Sunday, the weather was unbearably humid... I'd grown accustomed already to the cold weather we'd been experiencing over the last few weeks. Just like I used to with the temperate and cold climate in Baguio City during my college days. Now, with this 31°C, without an aircon, I was already drenched in sweat and always feel thirsty! The only thing keeping us cool in this heat is an electric fan! Yay! Since the electricity has become so expensive, I've sold our aircon. Now I have to plan on purchasing one again before the summer arrives, because it's really going to be very hot then... But now an AC with a converter is ideal in order to save electricity.
Luckily, at 4 p.m., there was a light rain, then it started raining cats and dogs!🌧️ Teenagers on the street were like small children playing in the rain, some with umbrellas, walking back and forth. And as a spectator with a smartphone on hand, I just can't resist not to take pics!😬 Perhaps, those kids were simply pleased with the rain because it unexpectedly poured, so they took a bath, imagine the water is free!💦 Water supply from NAWASA (National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority), also known as Maynilad and Manila Water, was so expensive, so people here rarely took baths and a rain is surely a blessing...
Since the privatization of the companies in charge of electricity and water, the bills have become expensive. Many people are hoping that the government will once again take care of these services, as it did during Marcos' tenure, so that the cost will become cheaper and affordable to the people. Why do these private companies charge such a high price for water when there is so much water available in the Philippines?🤔 Yay!
We are grateful that the Philippines is abundant in water and sunshine... I wish everything was already powered by solar. Although we will not be first-class citizens of the world and will not have a high standard of living, at least the basic necessities will not be expensive! Wouldn't that be fantastic?😀 The Filipinos are very hard working people and can endure all kinds of hardships. They should at least enjoy the basic necessities of life... Just saying! 🙄
Back to the rain! Many are happy with it, the flowers, the plants, trees and even the kids! Actually, I love the rain⛈️ as much as I enjoy the moon🌙 and Sunset🌄... I feel that the surroundings are dust-free and the air becomes cleaner to breathe. And it cools down the torrid weather, even my head and mind! The rain has some kind of soothing effect!🥱

I hope I'm not too late, as it's still Saturday in other parts of the world...
I've been busy yesterday, so wasn't able to post. But here are some photos I took a while ago for caturday... I'm glad, at least it's up to date!😀
Today was so humid, it seemed that the Northeast monsoon had already ended, so I decided to go out and buy some cold softdrinks and 'chichirya' (chips) from a nearby 'sari sari' or variety store. As I opened our gate, one of our neighborhood cats, who is always lurking beneath the bougainvillea bushes, appeared. I grabbed my phone and snapped a photo of her right away! As I started clicking my camera, she turned away, so I said, 'meow meow,' and she turned around and faced me.🐈 I assumed she was bothered by the heat so appeared irritable... Nonetheless, didn't she look adorably cute and awesome? 😍
It was still 3:30 p.m., but the sun rays made it appear as if the golden hour had already begun. Though warm, the sunlight was dazzling as it strike the bougainvillea flowers, so I just thought of taking a selfie...🤓 I hadn't taken a selfie in a while, but the sunlight was just alluring! I know, I'm not as prettiful as others, but in a few days, it will be my birthday, and it's just fun to see how I look now compared to a year ago. Pagbigyan niyo na ako...! ( Just 'let me' do it...) ✔️Nike er Yikes!😂 It's hard to admit but I'm already in my late 40's...🙄 Whew!😶 See, my head already has white hairs! (A confession of an unlicensed doctor, feeling young...)🥴
I rarely reveal my true age because I'm embarrassed when people don't believe it.
Just like when I was 23 and had to return to school to take some pre-med subjects that are required to enter Medicine. I was misidentified as being 17 or 18 years old!🤩 Also, when I had my internship in 2017, they mistook me for a 30-year-old fresh-out-of-medschool grad!🤪 Yay... So much with those experiences, have to be mature and live up to expectations!

These are photos I took last December 2021 in one of the local markets in Barangay 176! Have you heard of Barangay 176? It was quite popular! Yeah, believe it or not, it is the biggest barangay in the Philippines and even the entire world.😀 This is a neighborhood in Caloocan on the city's northwestern outskirts. A barangay is a native Filipino term for a village, with an average population of 42,000 people. However, the population of Barangay 176 is approximately 261,000 according to 2020 census which exceeds the national average and makes it the most populous in the country. This place in Caloocan City is the former First Lady Imelda Marcos' Human Settlement project. The housing project was known as BLISS, which stands for Bagong Lipunan ("New Society") Improvement of Sites and Services. It aimed to provide dignified shelter while also establishing a strong and stable economic foundation for the community. However, after the Marcoses were deposed, Cory Aquino turned it over to the NHA, or National Housing Authority, and the houses became overcrowded and low-cost.
During the Aquino administration, people from Manila slums were relocated to this Barangay. However, the first settlers before the NHA were well-educated government employees who owned lots along the roads during Marcos' administration. If the BLISS project had been pursued, this location could have become one of the most beautiful in Metro Manila, given its proximity to Bulacan, its rolling hills, springs,🏞️ and dense forest.🌳
This place is on higher ground and is out of reach of flood waters if Metro Manila as a whole is flooded. However, because of the area's notoriety, some people are embarrassed to say they are from here...Yay!😁 Furthermore, despite being the most populous, it is one of the poorest barangay since it has become a relocation of the slums, a hiding place for criminals and addicts, and has become known for illegal drugs. However, under President Duterte's administration, this place has been improved and cleaned.
I just hope that in the coming election, when BBM (Marcos) will win as President, the BLISS project will be continued to be implemented in this place to alleviate the poorest residents.

This was the twilight the other day, actually it was the continuation of the sunset that I posted yesterday before it finally dipped down below the horizon and before the dusk set in. The fish-like cloud formation has gradually disintegrated and the sky has turned out to be as colorful as a painting.🖼️
This was not a common sight you see every afternoon at sun down. So, if you happen to come across a stunning image of the sky that looks like an artist has incredibly painted on it in different hues, take advantage by looking at it closely and immortalize it in a click. 📸 In this case, you can retrieve it any time when you want to reminisce and reflect on it and when you want to post it on social media to share the unique sunset in your part of the world. Hence, they too, can be mesmerized and be enchanted by its magic!😍
We have only one sun and one sunset. How great is the Creator Who have made the sun to rise in the East and goes down in the West routinely everyday, but it provides a unique spectacle from one place to another. It's just wonderful to know that the sky does not look the same at sunset in different places!😀 It all depends on where you are. To me here in the city, I can have a clear glimpse of this fleeting splendor right in front of our house as I look out over our small veranda.🏡 Others behold it on a mountain top...⛰️ some catch sight of it on the beach... 🏖️ in a field... 🏞️ or by the river. You see, we have different points of views depending on our location.
Similarly, in life, we do not all have the same perspective on a given situation. Because we come from different backgrounds, have diverse experiences, and have received different education. We can only share our belief with others for them to become acquainted with it and learn about it, but we cannot impose nor we can insist on them... It will still be up to them to decide whether or not to accept it. 🤔

This was the sky scene that greeted me as the sun dipped down after the golden hour. A line of large stratocumulus cloud hovered just above the horizon in the western sky. A streak of yellow color had spread strikingly dazzling across the sky in a straight line between a sea of gorgeous peach hues that were reflected from the setting sun's brilliant glow to the nearby clouds.
It's really amazing to watch the sky especially when there's a strange cloud formation. This afternoon, it's just surprisingly spectacular that the cloud suddenly looked like a fish or was it a snake? 🤔 I guessed, it looked more like a fish, particularly that of a salmon. There was the head with a round eye and long body.🦈
When you see animals in the sky, this is known as "pareidolia," which means "resembling an image" in Greek. It is a perfectly normal phenomenon. Now I’m just curious if what does it mean when you see a fish in the clouds.☁️ I don't really believe in superstitions but it's just fun to know especially if it means something good. So I looked up on Google if what this image of a fish implied but I couldn't find anything.
Instead, I discovered the symbolism of fish in various cultures. In Asia, the fish is regarded as a symbol of wealth and fortune. It is a harbinger of good luck and prosperity. Well, if you simply believe in this and sit around all day doing nothing, then the meaning is the other way around...😁 Of course, hard work is the best guarantee that will bring in abundance and a good life!
So, don't just believe... Work hard and good luck🍀 will surely come knocking at your doorsteps! It will undoubtedly bring you good fortune!💰

This was a sunrise I've witnessed during the first days of this year. It was kinda amazing to see Mr. Sun glowing radiantly in the Eastern part of the sky. He was late though from rising during the cold early mornings of January and there weren't any clouds seen around in the sky to welcome Mr. Sun rising from his chamber. It seemed that the clouds were still having their hungover from their late-night revelry and partying with the moon... 😁😂And so were still fast asleep cozily somewhere above in the troposphere.
And here I was also late from waking up, from my late-night routine feeling cold and warming infront the window to get some sunshine containing a dose of Vitamin D. Thanks to Mr. Sun's free giveaway in the morning that's beneficial for good health.
Sunrises portrays new beginnings, hope and renewal. It gives us a new chance to live life anew and make amends of yesterday's failures. Watching the sun up gives you a feeling of excitement to face a new beautiful day!

A few minutes after photographing Mr. Spidey🕷️ yesterday, here comes four baby grasshoppers🦗 busy munching on an Ashitaba plant leaf🥬 nearby. The leaf they were clinging to was almost gone, there was very little of it left after they had bitten all the edges. I rarely see grasshoppers, so seeing a foursome was such a great surprise that I actually shouted with delight!😀 Even the kids in the neighborhood came over to see what I was up to and began picking on the grasshoppers. It's a good thing I had my camera ready to click before the grasshoppers jumped away one by one.
The four baby grasshoppers just reminded me of the lucky four leaf clover🍀... Of course, I don't believe in such good luck, but it's just fun to think how lucky I was this day, especially since I was able to photograph four subjects in one hour... a splendid sky, a pretty flower, a cutie Itsy Bitsy spider, and awesome baby grasshoppers that I can use for my content here in Noise! Isn't it cool to have four in one? 😀
Well, about grasshoppers, have you had any short story known related to it? I, for one, recalled a favorite Filipino fable, "Si Langgam at si Tipaklong" (The Ant and the Grasshopper). I was surprised to learn that it has an English version, based on one of Aesop's fables. The plot is the same, which is about a happy-go-lucky grasshopper🦗 who does nothing but dance and have fun all year. And here comes his friend, the 🐜Ant, who, on the other hand, works nonstop all day! Until the rainy days🌧️ arrive and the lazy grasshopper runs out of food. However, the hardworking ant has an abundance of food to eat.
The moral lesson of the story is that it is critical to work hard and to be prepared in the event of an adversity . The story focuses on the "virtues of hard work and planning for the future."

After taking macro shots of the pink bougainvillea yesterday, I tried to explore the little garden beside our gate in search of interesting subjects to photograph. There were no butterflies🦋, neither moths flying around nor caterpillars seen sitting in the leaves of the plants.🐛🌿 I thought perhaps they were also feeling the cold, which was why they weren't out in the open... or could they also be in quarantine? 😁 Joke! You see, we are still on Alert level 3 here in NCR or the National Capital Region. Unvaccinated people are not permitted to leave their block and travel farther away. They will be arrested and fined if the barangay 'tanod' (police) discovers them. Each person faces a fine of one thousand pesos, or approximately $20.
Yay, so better stay indoors...😀
However, before I decided to give up, a spider just came out in view.🕷️I was so happy to see Mr. Spidey. He was so tiny and a bit the same color as the leaf so he's difficult to see. I slowly took a macro shot of him and I just clicked and clicked my camera, before he will jump away. 📸
These were the only best macro snaps of Mr. spidey that I took since the macro shot of my camera is only 2mp. I've just enhanced my last 2 shots with Snapseed to enlarge the spider a little bit. Hope you enjoy it guys.😍
Anyway, do you remember any short stories about spiders that you enjoyed as a child? Or a favorite song that you sing to your kids? There are a lot of short stories about spiders that teach a moral lesson. One that came to mind was from 'The Girl and the Spider.' In the story, a girl was very sad because her favorite dress was torn. A spider approached her and told her to look at him, whose web house was always destroyed by the sweeper but he wasn't sad. He advised her that instead she should mend or sew her torn dress just as he would weave again his home.
The moral of the story is "do not waste your time lamenting what has been lost." 😀
