Good evening Noise peeps! How are you? The holiday's fast approaching and it seems that everyone is on 'busy bee' mode cramming to meet the deadlines. We want to enjoy the Christmas break with our loved ones without thinking of any unfinished job so have to finish whatever task is due. Yours truly is no exemption and since it's so hard to see a clear sky here with those electric wires dangling everywhere around blocking the view, just wanna share this stunning dusky blue sky that I've snapped last year in one of my daily afternoon roof deck musings. The moon was just starting to peer through the eastern sky as the sun on the west was already setting down sending a ray of golden glow eastward on the horizon. It was just a perfect backdrop for those low flying doves gleefully gliding on the wind over the housetops and treetops soaking in the warmth of the last sunshine of the day. Had been very busy this weekend juggling in between my review readings and household chores so had really no time for social media. Now, we're on to a new week... Here's another shot of the blood moon that I snapped last year hiding in the gallery of my cellphone. It just amazes me because it looks like a bloody sunset though it's high up in the night sky and smaller compared to the sun. This quote just came up to my mind as I'm comparing the sun and the moon. " Don't compare your life to others. There's no comparison between the sun and the moon. They shine when it's their time. " Thanks to Cassey Ho for this beautiful quote. You see, you can't compare them though they're both heavenly bodies, round and luminous. They're just different. His light is bright and lasting and she has no light of her own but is dependent on him. He can't provide light on the other side of mother earth so He needs her to reflect his light to reach the other side. You see, they both need each other to do the task they are assigned to do. Just like us humans, we can't compare our life to others. A medical doctor should not compare his life to a police officer. The doctor needs his protection just as the officer needs her for healing. Who is also a fan of McDonald's out there or Mcdo as we fondly call it here in the Philippines...? When I was too busy to cook for the boys during weekends, Mcdo was the next thing on my mind. So, McDonald's has been our second kitchen during the weekends. One box of 8 pieces of chicken would cost 440 Philippine pesos or 8.8 US$. I just cooked rice, because 1 cup of Mcdo rice was expensive at around 22 pesos or 0.25 $. And as you know, Filipinos eat lots of rice, my 2 boys could eat 3 to 4 cups each in one sitting. Me, I can eat 2 cups at most...😋 Plus, they also order desserts like McFlurry with Oreo and Coke Mc Float and big McFries. So all in all, I could spend about 1200 Phil peso or $24. This has been our routine every week before the pandemic, but now that we're all home and not so busy, our spending spree on eating McDo has been over. And the boys' gaining weight has also trimmed down. Before they were becoming overweight and looking mature than their age. Now that they mostly eat home-cooked foods with veggies and white meat, they've just become slimmer and looking younger, so am I... 😆😃 How about you guys? The temperature continues to be cold at 28 degrees Celsius even during noontime with the sun brightly beaming its warm rays. The cold weather is due to the 'Amihan' or Northeast monsoon which is a cool wind coming from the north pole mainly from the region of Siberia where the winter season now prevails. The north pole is like an open refrigerator sending a cold mist down to the lower latitude on the South East Asian countries like the Philippines🇵🇭. This season peaks during December making the holidays more festive which entices people to be on a 'spending spree' especially indulging in foods. It seems that the cold weather makes people hungry and think of food all the time.😆 And because BCH is still on its dip I can't afford to spend on extravagant foods. So, this is all that I have right now, a yummy hot Champorado!😋 This is a rice porridge called 'lugaw' in our local language and is considered a food for the 'poor'. And again as I said since BCH is on the bear mode, I'm just as poor as a rat right now with this 'rice porridge' but at least on an upgraded level, with a 'chocolatey' flavor!😋 Champorado is a cultural heritage from our Spanish ancestors making the 'Lugaw' more sophisticated by giving a deliciously rich flavor of chocolate. I just boiled a 1/2 kilo of 'malagkit' or glutinous rice, added more extra water after a while put on the chocolates and some sugar, and stirred it until the rice became soft. No Ricoa or Hershey choco powder available so I just used several 'Flat tops' chocolates. Serving it hot with evaporated milk, and garnishing it with more Flattops, the boys just found it delicious without complaining, haha! 😃 How about you guys? Good day, guys! I just woke up a while ago to a very cold morning at 25 degrees Celsius... That's already cold for me being already used to the 30 plus degrees that we have here in Manila 🇵🇭. As usual, doing first my morning routines... drinking my 'Sagada Barako roasted coffee' ☕while checking on BCH and of course Noisecash. Since I slept late at night I was still a bit groggy, the caffeine perhaps hasn't still worked on my sluggish blood. I opened Noise and checked on the 'notifications' and read new comments on my latest post. I usually like and give FTs to good comments and reply back, but if I'm not familiar with the name, I usually check on the profile first. However, I over overlooked checking on one and had given her first an FT before opening her profile. 'Oh no! a spammer! 😰 Her followers were only 8. She only had a few posts and almost all are 'Renoise' and haven't had any write-ups whatsoever. How come she had a very nice comment when she couldn't even construct one on her page?🤔 So I became a victim today of these 'spammers' preying by giving good comments on others' posts! I can't retrieve the FT anymore that I gave her even if I wanted to, you can retrieve hearts but not the FTs... Yay! It's good it's only $0.02... but if she regularly does that trick of commenting and people just give her FTs, she can earn big...😮 So guys, please don't fall a victim to these spam users, let's check first on people's profiles especially those whom we aren't familiar with before giving FTs. Don't rush, let's give time to check... And about the new update, I just realized perhaps that could be one reason why Noisecash wants us to set a tip from our wallet for the heart❤ so that we will become careful and not just give hearts away. With these new updates, the spammers won't get hearts and FTs. Yeah, it's arduous to always check on people's pages but that's important for us to keep this platform clean! If the spammers won't get any FTs and hearts anymore, they'll go away, like the rodents in our houses! So, guys let's be like the cute kitties guarding our house against pests... The sky never fails to amuse me! If there is a 'blood moon' or a 'pink moon', there's also a... 'eye moon'! 👁 😆Joke..! Seriously... during the early wee hours of October last year, this wonderful view outside our bathroom window painted the black canvas of the eastern night sky. Like a giant 'glowing eye' peeping in the dark, the moon was glaring at me, beaming a magnificent bright golden glow in my face. I was stunned! I've never seen such a celestial beauty before. One month had already passed since my sister succumbed to Leukemia, and I hardly slept. I was still awake at 2 a.m. and seeing the moon, I remembered her. It just made me think that maybe she's reminding me to sleep already. Dreamily, I looked once more at the moon and clicked my mobile camera. I think the moon winked back at me... 😉 bidding me 'sweet dreams' and lullaby! I told the moon how I missed my sis already, then bid good night... Another sky magic that I just witnessed a couple of years ago and snapped by my Windows phone camera. My kids were going to school one day aboard their Dad's motorcycle. They were going to be late so riding in a motorbike would be faster to reach school. As soon as they left, however, a light shower just started to fall. I became worried because they're going to be soaked in the rain if it poured harder, so I started to mumble wishing the rain would stop. In a flash, I just remember what my Dad told us when we were kids that God loves children so much that when they pray to Him or when we pray for the kid's sake, God's heart is touched. So I prayed to God earnestly while looking out the window begging that He would stop the rain because if my little boys would be drenched in the rain, they'll get sick. But then I realized the plants need the rain too. So I prayed that He just hold the rainwaters for a moment in His hands until the kids would reach school so that they won't get wet, then He would be going to release the waters. To my surprise, the rain stopped...! Afterward, I saw two of our neighbors down the street talking with each other while gazing up at the sky. I was intrigued so I went out and asked them. They said to me the clouds were oddly stunning and pointed them out to me. I was taken aback and fell in silence...😮 I remember my prayer a while ago. The clouds looked like pouches as if they're holding the waters so as not to fall... I couldn't believe it, God answered my prayer! At that instant, I thanked God and before all the cloud pouches faded away, I grabbed my cellphone and took a shot of them, and called my husband asking if the kids entered their classrooms already. Well, I just learned recently since I started writing in Noisecash that these bubbly or pouch-like clouds were called 'Mammatus' or 'Mammatocumulus'. They are a special kind of cloud that formed when air sinks toward the ground. They shape like pouches or like cow’s udders or mammary glands. And they only last for 10 to 15 minutes, most often they signal that a storm is on a weakening trend. Although there's a scientific explanation for all these phenomena, I believe that God is the power or force behind them... You see, science just explains what God has done. Science is the study of all things through observation and experiment... but it can't even explain everything in detail. So, who is first, God or Science? Of course, God! Before science was started in this world, God was. For He says, "I am the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last." Job 37:16 amazingly asks, "Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of Him which are perfect in knowledge?" How about you guys? Today is a day for the most popular hashtag for Saturday. Happy #Caturday everyone!🐺 Haven't posted for a while for 'Saturday, so I might as well continue the journey which I started here about our beloved kitty 'Graya' who popularized the hashtag #ShowUsYourKitties in the other social universe. As I promised here it is... For those who hasn't read yet my stories about Graya, you can look at it from my previous posts...🤓 Ok, so one day, Graya was 'meowing and meowing', and walking to and fro inside the house as if she was looking for something. Afterward, she stopped then after a few minutes, she meowed again, now with intensity as if she was calling our attention. I then suspected that she might be in labor already. I remember those parturients who are in labor back in Obstetrics rotation in my internship, every 5 minutes, they moan and cry in pain. I did experience that also when I've labored to give birth to my eldest son, it was the most painful 'pain' that I experienced in my whole life that I swore I wouldn't want to give birth again! I then had my Caesarian Section for not tolerating the pain. Hehe..!😆 Well, this shouldn't be my story, right? Haha...😅 But Graya's... So I told the boys, to carry Graya upstairs to the other room and put some old blankets in a laundry box as her maternity bed. Then I palpated her belly to feel for contractions. There it was, her belly contracted or tightened up while she's meowing so loud again, I told my nurses, er the boys to document and time it. Graya's contractions lasted for 1 minute and 30 seconds with an interval of 15 minutes, then it became shorter, about every 5 minutes. Afterward, one baby kitty came out which was covered with vernix caseosa and amniotic fluid. So cute! I should have to wipe it but Graya licked it, so I just let her. However, she also ate the placenta and umbilical cords....! Omg, I was really in great shock to witness it!😰 It was my first time watching a cat giving birth and that's gross... But then, I just thought that could be perhaps normal for cats giving birth. Then she licked her baby to clean it. She had contractions again and a little kitten came out, 3 more succeedingly, and she repeated to eat the mess.... Yay!😆 And licked her babies, so, they were really clean. I just replaced the wet blanket with a new dry one to keep the kittens warm. Graya looked so exhausted but I think those placentas and umbilical cords will give her nutrients and keep her strong, that's how perhaps nature works for animals. The baby kitties looked all well, they were pinkish and have different fur colors. They were actively moving to look for their mother's breast and started suckling! They meowed and meowed with little shrieks... So far their APGAR scores (Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration) were perfectly great..! Haha!😁 Then Graya fell to a deep sleep and woke up after 4 hours later to eat and drink. Being an OB for cats was so much fun and not so stressful, unlike with humans. I was intrigued by this so-called 'macro' and 'night photography' so I borrowed my son's phone a while ago and went out to our mini garden looking for some objects to do a photo shoot. I saw this 'Ginseng' plant in the dark because of the orange flowers that glint when struck by the shimmering colors of the 'Christmas lights' decor from the window of our neighbor. I'm not an expert in photography, I just love to take pics, neither do I know about 'macro shots', but I want to learn this also and wish to have my digital SLR camera someday and do such good photography techniques. So, using my son's cellphone camera with its simple 'macro shot', I took these snaps of the 'Ginseng', or known as Bottleplant shrub, Buddha belly plant, or Gout plant in English. That green fleshy capsules are the fruits and the orange coral-like cluster are the flowers. Hope you like it guys! Here was our dinner last night. The boss was home and wanted to eat a hearty meal... Haha! Yeah, hearty because red meats are full of lipids...😆 Well, they say a little bit of everything (?) is just as good as seldomly...🤔 Ok, but yay! a bit burned! And, In Pathology, this isn't good because of the HCA heterocyclic amines in charred meat that are carcinogenic... Anyway, just examined my grilled pork, and those weren't charred actually but the color of the black soy sauce that I used to marinate them. The taste was just good!😋 Forget the amines... Haha!😆😁 Since there are still leftovers of that grilled 2 kg pork 'liempo' or belly which were worth 420 to 450 Philippine peso or almost 9 US$, I just reheated it for our lunch today. ~ Back to my review materials ~ Now you know when a patient is positive for an H. Pylori. But for those who have correctly done the correct diagnosis but aren't yet aware of the clinical management guideline for H. Pylori infection... tsk tsk! A board question that's just so relevant for a moonlighting reminder at the E.R. when you're so alone, especially when you're not yet licensed! Excuse me for this 'slip of the tongue...' but there are some MDs out there who aren't yet 'board passers' but are already 'moonlighting,' so dangerous... damn! I won't go for it even if I've been offered one, I was actually! With the high PF, that's so tempting, especially for one like me who is broke... Yay! But, I wouldn't want anymore to add another unbearable 'sin' to my superego. I'll just wait for the right break. Guess, better to sidetrack for a while & get lost in the steely concrete jungle of the corporate world, by using that talkative, conversant side of my ego, assisting customers at the other side of the planet with issues & inquiries regarding their '1st world' high standard of living problems. My gosh, they aren't aware, aren't they...? that they're talking to someone in a faraway land, worst in what they call a '3rd world!' 😆 I find it fascinating though... It's a kinda privilege 'talking like them' in resolving their concerns & making them happy!😊 But the pay? 😥 Well not so proud of it compared to the high compensation when you 'HEAL them' of their '1st class' illnesses, when you can touch & speak to them eye to eye... Yay, life is unfair! You're stuck in this '3rd, underprivileged universe!' But oh well, that's life... After all, we are still slaves since time immemorial to our foreign ancestors! Yeah, it's just that now it's kinda different, now it's digitally high tech slavery.. Whew! Here's another pic of the sky above the Sleeping Beauty mountain that I snapped from my Casamata Hill musings years ago... I just call it, an 'Alien Invasion... 😃 It seemed that the peaceful slumber of Sleeping Beauty has been disturbed. Sleeping beauty who is 'forever waiting' for the kiss of his prince charming to wake her up is in great danger. Some aliens from outer space just came over to rage war on this little kingdom in the North and want to reclaim the heart of the sleeping lady. They had their spaceship roving above and their deadly giant Scorpion, which is now stomping his strong eight legs and claws and whiplashing his venomous stinger tail everywhere hitting anyone in view. Suddenly, a giant ferocious creature had just come out with a great roar from the South China sea. It's Godzilla! And a man riding on his back, coming to the rescue! At last, the prince charming of Sleeping Beauty had arrived, just timely in this perilous time. Godzilla, with his big-headed dino sharp teeth and blazing breath, started to fight the giant ugly scorpion. They battled each other over the mountains and rivers... And who won? On to the next chapter, hehe!😆 Sorry, the story is cut... In that pic, Godzilla and the scorpion are currently fighting, let's see in the next picture what happened. Good afternoon Noisey people! Here is our lunch that I prepared a while ago. It was a simple but a favorite and healthy Filipino dish called 'Paksiw na Bangus'. 'Paksiw' is a Filipino word which means to 'cook in a vinegar'... I just simmered the Bangus or 'milkfish' for 15 minutes in a mixture of a cup of brown vinegar, a cup of water, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil with spices like garlic, onions, ginger, and black peppercorn. After which I added the side dish vegetables like eggplants, ampalaya or bitter gourd, and green chili and simmered for another 15 minutes. The vinegar gave the milkfish and the broth a tangy sour flavor. I added a tablespoon of sugar and 2 tbs of 'Patis' or fish sauce as a substitute for 'Vetsin' or monosodium glutamate for the 'umami taste' to make it more flavorful and savory. As we all know, 'umami' is the fifth taste in humans as distinct from sweet, bitter, sour, and salty. The mildly sweet taste of the milkfish and the bland taste of the veggies complemented the salty-sour broth. Then I cooled the whole dish inside the refrigerator for an hour before serving it for lunch. You are maybe wondering why?🤔 You see, Paksiw is tastier when it is eaten cold! Yeah, and the boys just prefer it that way and partner it later with hot steamed rice. Hot and cold?!😮 Maybe it's your first time to hear a meal that is a combination of hot and cold, haha!😆 Weird? Yeah, but, I assure you it is absolutely delicious!😋 What do you think of the hot and cold menu, guys? The other day, I read several posts about 'free tips' that Noisecash sent them, and they're asking if the others received it too. So, I checked my notification if I was sent a notif.... and there it was! I immediately saw a message that says, "You got a Free Tip! >You currently have $0.56 in Free Tips". However, I was a bit hesitant to tip, because I got scared. In the last few days, I have been giving tips generously even with comments on my posts, then suddenly I observed that my funds were no longer earning, so I just stopped. When I opened my notification again, I saw a notif that says, " We wanted to give you more Free Tips, but it seems that you aren't using them. Start giving them out and we'll give you more." So, I checked back the posts of the others as to what we're going to do with it. Some reminded us to use the free tips properly, to give them to deserving users. Ok, so I got it, we have to give tips to those who post quality content, to those who post original, beautiful pics and write-ups. I opened the Explorer section and look for original, quality posts. I don't care if who was the person or author of that post, but of course, I also had to check the profile to avoid spammers. Then I went on giving tips to those who I think posted original and quality content. Guessed, I've started with four posts. However, I overlooked the 'Percentage to yourself', it was only to the fifth post that I became aware of it and so I tried to place it in 20%. I didn't know how it worked. But I thought you're also given some amount when you give a tip to other users. Wow, that's a great thing!😃 And thank you Noisecash for this new amazing update! I enjoyed giving tips, and now that we're given funds to use, 'giving' has become much more fun! Good afternoon Noisemates! This sky view was taken a couple of years ago when I was in Casamata Hill in my hometown. This was included in the photos that I took when I was there, the first pics were those I posted here in Noisecash previously. In just a few hours that we were at the top of the hill, I already saw different cloud formations over the 'Sleeping Beauty' mountain beyond. I haven't learned or known yet the types of clouds at that time but I was already awestruck by their incredible shapes and majestic allure! I was just lucky to have seen this radiant 'Unicorn' shaped light glow from the sun that penetrated the circle of those group of stratocumulus clouds. Hence, I didn't hesitate to take a snap of it! The formation there looked like a 'cavum cloud' which means a cloud hole or cavity, commonly known as a 'fallstreak hole' or 'hole punch cloud'. This is caused when water droplets in the clouds freeze to ice and melt into snow as they fall. The gap expands to create spectacular hole in the cloud. At higher altitudes, this is caused when airplanes pass through the cloud layers there. What a rare and remarkable sky phenomenon! Can you spot the glowing 'unicorn' there with its one horn? As I've promised the boys that I will cook the rest of the chickens yesterday into fried chicken, here it is...! I wasn't able though to cook it for our dinner yesterday since I was already tired. We just bought a cooked viand or dish in our 'suking' or favorite Carinderia (small restaurant) nearby. This afternoon, since I was no chef nor an expert in cooking, I watched a video tutorial on Facebook on how to cook a fried chicken with coatings like the ones bought at McDonald's... The coating made it crispier and tastier and the flesh inside was tender, so finger-lickin' good! Our dinner was a bit late but it was worth the wait! My boys have eaten well and were satisfied. Almost lunchtime already, so timely to have just finished grilling these chicken thigh, leg, and breast with potatoes and Baguio beans as a side dish. Mama chef has been sick for several days and the boys missed already eating a normal home-cooked meal. They're already bored eating canned goods and frozen foods like their favorite fried 'meatloaf and hotdog', now they don't wanna eat them anymore...😆😅 Yay! So, early this morning, I went to a nearby 'Talipapa' (small market) and bought freshly butchered chicken. 1 kilo is already worth 155 Philippine Peso or 3 US$. Since all they want now is chicken, I bought 3 kilos. The remainder will be cooked into fried chicken later for dinner. Good day, Noisy friends, how are you? Just couldn't get over the 'blood moon' that I missed seeing last Friday evening... So I got sick for several days!🤒 Seriously? Yeah, I was sick of Flu and so wasn't able to write here in Noise..! But, don't worry it wasn't Covid-19, just the common flu from the Influenza virus that we all have sometimes. Omg, so I became a patient myself and... even the doctor for myself!😁 Yay! So, at least gotta practice my history taking that hasn't been used for a long time. Here is W.J.C., female, of middle age😅, an unlicensed medical graduate, currently unemployed, (well, you know why... if you didn't know yet pls read first her previous posts to get to know her better!😁), married (too early while in medical school), a prodigal Christian, presently residing in NCR🇵🇭 and her first time to be admitted in this institution. 😆 Source & Reliability: Patient, 90% CC (Chief Complaint): Anxiety attacks HPI (History of the Present Illness): Patient was apparently well until, 5 days PTA (prior to admission), the patient had episodes of sneezing and an itchy nose associated with teary eyes. 4 days PTA, she started to have a runny nose, and felt feverish, had an undocumented fever by palpation associated with a sore throat. No loss of appetite nor anosmia was noted. No consult was done but the patient started a home remedy of drinking hot ginger tea and inhaling steam which offered temporary relief. 3 days PTA, still with the above signs and symptoms, the patient had now developed a moderate grade fever of 38 C (degrees Celsius) by a digital thermometer. Also developed muscle aches and a throbbing frontal headache which was intermittent and 7/10 in intensity associated with photophobia. Still, no consult was done and the patient self-medicated with Bioflu tablet an OTC (over the counter) drug, 500 mg, TID (thrice a day) which offered temporary relief. 2 days PTA, the patient still with the above signs and symptoms and continued taking Bioflu and inhaling hot steam. 3 hours PTA, the patient was already relieved of symptoms but now with anxiety and palpitations... because the patient started to run out of BCH (Bitcoin cash)...!😯 Hence decided to seek consult at Noise and was subsequently admitted for writing...😃 Thankfully, she's fine but her e-wallet is not... 😂Haha...! My history there wasn't complete though, there are other parts missing like the PPMHx (Previous and Present medical History), PSHx (Personal Social history), etc..., But guess, they're not significant to be written here anymore so I'll just call it a day! Last year in April, I've witnessed this Supermoon 'Pink moon'. This is considered the biggest full moon of 2020, according to the news. It was only last year 2020 when we were in Marikina City that I was really able to see lots of full moons. I was lucky because we had stayed in a building with a wide roof deck. So just wanna share this pic of the Pink Supermoon beaming a magnificent pinkish glow around the surrounding stratocumulus clouds. A truly once in a 'Pink moon,' phenomena that one shouldn't miss to behold and capture. Just wanna share also this Bible verse, as it reminds us that we shouldn't be afraid of this celestial phenomenon as God is our keeper and shade. You see even the dogs are howling when seeing the fullmoon, they seem to be scared. But we shouldn't be like them for God is our protector. He ordained the moon to give light at night and He wants us to look at the sky and marvel at His handiworks and remember Him as the Creator of all! I wasn't able to see and watch the lunar eclipse last night since the sky here was shrouded by giant stratocumulus clouds. Even the full moon, I didn't see it, it was already too high up in the sky and I couldn't get a glimpse outside the window. And since it was already late at night, it was scary to go out, the dogs are even howling... So, I just wanna share this photo of the 'blood moon' last year with my silhouette there gazing up at the night sky. I didn't know that my husband had taken a shot of me. He knew very well that I was a 'moon person' and loves looking up at the sky on a moonlit night, that was perhaps the reason why he took a stolen shot of me. I thought this would just be nice to share with everyone here today the beauty and splendor that the moon radiates that night on this part of the earth. It really is a wonderful feeling to gaze at the night sky to find an unusual and 'once in a blood moon' phenomenon. Truly the Creator is amazing! Someone says, "For every 10 selfies you take, you are required to read a book!" Awesome, isn't it?! A while ago, I just feel lazy to read my book on Pathology. Afterward, that quote just popped out of my mind! But silly, I'm not so fond of taking selfies lately. So, I guess, that wouldn't be effective for me to be forced to read! So I need something else that would somehow motivate me. And what would that be?🤔 Food!!😃 Yeah, food... and sweet! That's it since my brain needs glucose. You see there are only two nutrients that our brain needs and those are oxygen and glucose! "Not all angels have wings, some have whiskers!"🐺 I just love this quote! Whoever wrote this... Thanks to him or her, it is so beautiful and now a popular quote! Here is a pic of our 'angel kitties' not so long ago, they were siblings. Orangely was a male and Whity was a female! They had another sibling brother which wasn't on the pic, Blacky. They were named by the color of their fur. Yeah, they had been our angels, why? They protected our house from the rodents which were hiding in the sewerage but at night time would come out and enter the house and steal food. So these angels guarded the kitchen and their presence was enough to scare the rodents away as well as the cockroaches. The second reason why they were our angels, was that they gave us so much happiness, especially to my little boys!They were so sweet and playful... They just wanted to snuggle down with the kids while watching TV and in turned my kids cuddled and carried them too. Thirdly, they were a good companion. When I was alone in the kitchen or at the laundry area at night, they were there following me, so I just didn't feel alone while everybody was fast asleep. They were so cute and photogenic too that they were always present when we would take pictures. Sadly, they were no longer with us... They said that cats have 9 lives but Orangely, Whity, and Blacky were not so lucky to have 9. However, they are now certified angels both with 'whiskers and wings!' Wherever they are now, they're always in our hearts and minds... and in our phones' gallery and even now here in Noise. Thanks for reading... Got this snapshot from one of my roof deck afternoon musings last year. I was late for the golden hour or the actual visible sun setting on the horizon but glad to catch up with a beautiful golden yellow twilight before the darkness totally engulfed the sky. Just wanna share this beautiful verse! "The day is thine, the night also is thine: Thou hast prepared the light and the sun. Thou has set all the borders of the earth: Thou has made summer and winter. This verse from Psalms 74: 16-17 is just so perfect for this yellow sunset, reminding us that God is the Creator of light. I'm not a 'morning lark' type of person... Since time immemorial I'm a 'night owl!' So very rarely that I see sunrises! I wake up late at about 10 am because my usual sleep is at 3 or 4 am. Except during my clerkship and internship days in the hospital, when my status post is on a pre-duty or duty status that requires me to wake up very early at about 4 in the morning. During that time upon waking up, I take a shower immediately and prepare myself. Then at 5 am I have to board the train going to the hospital in Manila, the ride usually takes an hour. During the ride, I take a nap since I'm still 'sleepy' until my train arrives in Manila at about 6 am. The train station is just a walking distance of the hospital. So I just walk, then rush to go inside the hospital and up the elevator until arriving at the floor of the department's office of my rotation to sign in on the attendance logbook. The usual cut-off is 7 am. When you sign in after that, you'll be marked as late and be given demerits such as the extension of duty hours for 3 hours. I usually sign in at 6:10 to 6:15 am. Morning endorsements or Admission conferences that all the medical team have to attend before the shifting of duty statuses for the day will start at approximately 7:30 am. Since I still have about less than an hour for myself, I rush going down the elevator and out of the hospital to go to a nearby McDonald's and have my breakfast of a Hotcake and a McMuffin sausage while sipping on a hot roasted coffee☕and checking my FB... Afterwhich, at 7:15 am, I have to be back at the hospital. Going up the elevator again, with my unfinished cup of coffee in one hand and a hashbrown in the other, though the elevator was packed with people, I still manage to have a bite on my hashbrown...😋 People just stare at me, I could just feel the envy in their faces! Haha! Such a head turner...😊 Yay! Sometimes narcissism attacks me and I just couldn't help resisting the pleasure of it! You see, my work as a student doctor is very difficult, always rushing, and couldn't enjoy almost anything anymore because I have to do all things on time. My mind is always preoccupied with things that have to be done on time and I just don't like the idea of being scolded and given demerits. I haven't even had the time to look up at the sky anymore to appreciate the sunrise. So perhaps, being inside that elevator fully packed with people staring at you, even some greeting you with 'Good morning doc!' or commenting you with 'Oh, yummy hashbrown, doc, enjoy!', even some of the nurses notice your new sketcher shoes and say, 'Doc, you look so good with your new shoes". Wow! I feel so happy and the tiredness and boringness I feel inside seem to just fade away... Yeah, I know, those are just shallow compliments or flatteries, but it really 'made my day!'😃 Going back to sunrises, yeah, that's it, that's the reason why I always missed seeing the sunrise. Unlike the sunset, that when 5 pm comes, we are allowed to have some break in our quarters at the penthouse which has a full view of Manila Bay, and so have the chance to see beautiful sunsets while having our snacks! Unfortunately, I don't have pics because I have to eat fast, actually, that was already my 'lunch and snack in one' for the day. You see, we're so busy that we have no time to eat our lunch anymore. Yay!😩 PS: This is a pic of a sunrise that I've snapped last year from the bathroom window of our apartment in Marikina. I was just lucky to see such a grandiose sunrise with the sun's crepuscular rays radiantly beaming around! Yeah, powered by desire and persistence, soar high with your dreams...! Like the plane above which is powered by fuel and the wind... So are you! The fuel is the burning desire inside you, and the wind is that stubborn persistence and passion or the so-called 'grit' that will carry you to persevere towards your long-term goals. Of course, the beginning is hard, that's always have been... Just like the takeoff of an airplane making whooshing sounds which cause your stomach to knot and your eardrums to ache. But as the airplane reaches and glides the vast blue sky, you will then float amidst those beautiful clouds amusing you to get rid of boredom during your ride. As the days and months and years pass by, your work then becomes a routine, just like a hobby that you enjoy. Hence, don't just sit there and close your eyes and dream. That is daydreaming that will get you to nowhere. And when you open your eyes, you just find out that you're still there stuck in your chair, miserable and poor just like yesterday. So, wake up and go after each task day by day. Work hard and let your sweat drips into your eyes, taste it, let your muscles ache... Until one day, success will be knocking at your door, crying out for mercy to enter. As you now taste your sweat it will be no longer salty and bitter, but delightfully sweet! Telling you that you can now reap the fruits of your hard labor. Finally, your airplane of success has now arrived at its destination where greener pastures are awaiting you! This was taken some years ago in 2016 during my visit to the North. I was atop a little hill called Casamata Hill, a local tourist attraction that has a park, a picnic grove, and a viewing deck. It is overlooking the little town of Bangued (my childhood hometown), the expanse of the Abra River, and the 'Sleeping Beauty' mountain beyond. The latter was named as such because of its form like a lady lying down supinely facing up towards the northern sky. The park there is called Victoria Park, its beautification was used to be the project of the first lady Imelda Marcos and where the Human Settlement headquarters was located. However, after the Marcos regime, the park has long been neglected. It has a small open amphitheater where local concerts were used to be held. Also, a public swimming pool was constructed and used to be opened to the public but some years later it was also closed. This hill is also where the impoundment reservoir of water (as seen on 3rd & 4th pics) from a nearby natural spring that supplies the water needs of the whole town proper and nearby towns. The place has been improved since my last visit in 2016. They put up lights called the 'The Victoria Lights' and the Abra logo where tourists and locals take pictures. Can you spot exactly where the 'Sleeping Beauty' is? 🤔 Clue: Look at the upper left corner of all the photos, the highest peak of the mountain there is the head with her long hair flowing back rightward. Hi, guys here's the continuation of my call center adventure on my last post. Where did I stop? Ah, the Berlitz test, 'if you were given the chance to promote an island🏝in the Philippines, what would it be & why?' So I gathered my thoughts and immediately saw vivid Facebook images of Boracay & Palawan…. Of those white sandy beaches, sunsets, and slim bodies in swimsuits. But that's it, no other thing more that my mind can come up with. So I thought of another one which I should have seen. In a moment, Hundred Islands popped out of my mind… 25 seconds had passed already and, the talking time began to tick! My mouth opened and, words just came out spontaneously. "I would like to promote the 'Hundred Island' National Park in Lingayen, Pangasinan because it's one of a kind... There's no other place in the world like it where you can find & see the wonderful view of a group of little islands floating amidst the wide blue seas. Only in the Philippines..!" Then, I went on to describe the place & the activities which tourists can do there, that they can rent boats from the locals to go sightseeing around and go island hopping. And during the boat rides on a clear day, they can see the 'flying fishes' 🐠swimming in sparkling waters & jumping around overhead. Giant turtles🐢 are also a wonderful sight and they can be seen cruising in shallow waters near the shores. Tourists can also do snorkeling and sea diving to have a look at all the rich corals beneath and various marine life like those vast arrays of colorful schools of fishes and tiny sea horses. So, while I was enjoying my storytelling, I was already imagining myself wandering around Hundred Islands even indulging myself in a green mango dipping it in a sweetened anchovy sauce. Suddenly, the beeper beeped & turned red, time was up! I didn't even notice the passing of time... Another situational scenario followed.. guessed four more. Plus those exams on grammar & identification of computer parts, typing speed & accuracy, and three essay writing of 100 words each asking about an achievement you had in life that you're most proud of? The most challenging experience that you had & how did you handle it? And why did you apply to a Call Center, what do you think, why they should hire you? Whew! So far, so good. About the last question, guessed, what did I answer? I need money...! Tons of it! Hehe…!😁 Of course, I just wrote, "I need a job and that they should hire me because I'm fluent in English and, that I have a good attitude & listening skills." And most of all, I don't want to do any illegal moonlighting at the E.R. without a PRC license & a certificate from a two-week seminar of ACLS & BCLS training. Haha!😆 Yeah, that's the truth, I can moonlight if I want to, unlicensed are allowed but underground. ”Enter at your own risk!" Well, I don't want to add another problem anymore to my papers. Before the pandemic in November 2019, I got bored with my review while waiting for my papers to be fixed. Out of desperation, I've thought of working, to take my mind off from my boredom and, of course, to earn on my own. Yay, some problems in my papers arise in applying for the boards... birth cert, clerical errors, etc... "Nagkagulo-gulo na...' sorry for the vernacular lingo that wasn't allowed at the Center for Disease Control 'er' I mean at the call center. It hit me hard… causing me much mental, emotional torture! And so, I needed to sidetrack to forget. And where did I head then? Of course, I didn't go to a bar and drown myself to death with an alcoholic beverage as some people do when they're depressed. I just needed to appease my mind and wander to some nice place. So I went to the steely jungle of the corporate world and ventured into the call center industry!😃 Can you imagine a medical graduate applying for a job as a CSR or call service representative? The HR there were shocked when they came to know I'm a med grad and saw my credentials. Did they ask why? Of course, I didn't tell them that I'm waiting for something to be fixed then when it's done, I'll be out of my way! They definitely won't entertain me for that reason. So I told them, I need work to earn, period, no more, no less...😉 Maybe, they've seen the desperation in my looks, so they just played with my wit. I've applied in three big call centers and I had so much fun during the interviews & all the dreaded online exams I went through, like Berlitz, Verzant & SVAR at Aspiring Minds. Of course, I passed them all...! Hurray to Medicine!😁 Though I couldn't practice yet my profession, at least the American English accent that we've accustomed to in med school was now of use, like that proper pronunciation, 'eaa' \bak-ˈtir-ē-ə\, staph•y•lo•coc•cus\ˈkä-kəs\ … etc! Hehe! Well, I struggled too during the exams, it wasn't easy as one two three as you expect it to be. The process was long and you must be patient. You must have lots of ideas and a stable 'train of thought' because anything under the microscope 'er' under the sun would be asked during the dreadful Berlitz. Like when I was given a situational scene, I was asked, "if you were given the chance to promote an island in the Philippines, what would it be & why?" You must gather all your thoughts in 25 seconds then give your answer in a length of 1-minute duration, in a nonstop speech which must be clear, fluent, correct in grammar, in proper intonation, and no stammering nor dead air. Whew! At first, I felt so tense, "what does the heck I know about islands?" All I've studied my life was about diseases & their cure. The rule of the thumb was you've got to know what you're talking about so that you can furtherly expound it without difficulty. Whew, this is a long story guys.... haha!
