We went to a birthday celebration this afternoon. I just ate a slice of maha-blanca since I don’t want to eat anything that has a meat. By the way, this is Kyle. My boyfriend’s nephew. I found him playing this ‘cute’ caterpillar on a farm cart. He has been holding it and let it crawl on the metal. No worries, he let it go in the end.

Munggo na may langka at gata, tapos may tuyo. Ready na ang lunch namin. After ko magluto ng breakfast, yubg ate ko naisipan maglaga ng munggo tapos nanguha siya ng langka sa tapat ng bahay. Siya nagprepare ng mga ingredients pero at around 9am tumawag ang pinsan namin, nag-aya mag beach kaya hayun iniwan nila ako dito sa bahay at ako tumapos ng niluluto niyang munggo. Lazones and clementines. These are the remaining fruits that we had for the new year celebration. I made fruit salad using the musk melon, apple and peaches. The other citrus fruits like lemon, sunkists, oranges and ponkan are still good and I placed it in the kitchen. I got to burn all the excess fats and proteins I consumed during the holiday season and I will start tomorrow. Lol!

Time to remove the fats off my body. The weeds are dead now and the area is ready for clearing and cleaning. It’ll take me days to finish this and that’s a good thing. We planted pumpkin few months back at this area and for the next cropping it’ll be a variety of vegetables. I already transferred the spring onions and I hot lemon grass on the side and okras on the other side. Let’s be productive today!!

It was almost 12mn on new year’s eve when this car passed by the road. We were outside waiting for the clock to strike at 12:00am. It was foggy and cold. Sa panahon ngayon dapat talaga may extra protection and i-boost ang immune system. Aside from fresh food, gulay and fruits, kailangan din ng vitamin c. As a Filipino, I associate chocolates with our dear OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers). Filipinos working abroad. Kinasol is the local term for seashells. This is good for lactating moms. This can increase the production of milk in a woman’s body if she has a baby. I am not a mom, not yet….but this will be our dinner. Cooked with ginger, onions, tomato and lemon grass. And oh! I picked a few eggplants from our garden and I will just fry it. I still got a bagoong dilis perfect match for fried eggplants.

Nakasama din sa wakas. Medyo makulimlim and cloudy today pero patuloy pa din kami sa paglilinis ng area. Ika- 3rd day na namin sa pag apply ng herbecide. After two weeks pwede na kami makapagtanim ng mais. Nasira na ng hangin yung kubo dito kaya wala na halos matambayan. Wag sana umulan.

Found it! These are our food container. After we ate our breakfast I tidied it up, and Input it in our basket. I know that I put it in, I remember it. Calamansi flowers. We planted these calamansi last year, it’s 2ft. high and it has a lot of flowers now. I also was able to harvest a few fruits. Calamansi is a substitute for lemon fruit here in the Philippines. It belongs to the citrus family.

We ran out of foil paper, and we can’t just go to the town to buy a new roll of foil paper, so I used a banana leaf to wrap the fish. I think this is better because the skin of the fish doesn’t stick to the leaf unlike with the foil paper, and it’s eco-friendly. Time to eat dinner!

Last night when we were sleeping I heard a branch cracking,and woosh! A part of the tree, a big branch fell. It might be because of the heavy fruits hanging on it. We cut few more branches to clear it. I think we need to cut a few more branches to prevent it from falling. We gave the fruits to our neighbors.

Back to writing. I have been away for almost two months I guess. For my first article for this year, I chose to tackle the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Women suffer from this syndrome and might have not known about it. In my case, I was diagnose when I was 22 years old. I am still writing about it. My brother-in-law had his booster shot yesterday and he keeps on telling us that it is super cold right now when in fact it is tolerable. I told him that it might be an adverse effect. I bought these fresh catch for ₱54.00. That’s $1.06! Last week, the price of it was at ₱250 per kilo and today it’s only ₱180. I’ll make a fish stew with malunggay leaves. This will be our food for lunch.

“Tita, gutom ako”. Kaya hayan nagluto ako ng pritong saging coated with sugar (coated para sosyal pakinggan). Tapos nilagyan ko ng sesame seeds para sosyal tignan. Hahaha! Lalagyan ko pa sana ng chia kaso baka di na kainin ng pamangkin ko lasi lahat ng bago sa paningin di niya kakainin unless i-explain ng bonggang bongga. I think Choco is a Chinese puppy. Look at its eyes. We named him Choco because of his color. It’s chocolate! His father is black labrador and his mama is Asong Pinoy. Big but friendly, he likes to chase noisy motorbikes passing by the road. Anything that is too noisy irritates him. He likes to go with us in the area and just watch us while we work. He wouldn’t leave, and patiently waits until we are done with the work. So that’s our sleepy head Choco.

Spring rolls for merienda. This will be the last leftover food that we had during the new year celebration. The stuffing are the buttered shrimps that we had in new year. We froze it. I added carrots, green beans and cabbage. I had to Remove the shells before I chopped the meat of the shrimps then I sautéed it with onion and garlic, added a few powdered garlic, pepper and salt.

Breakfast. A simply hearty meal before we start our day. It’s still gloomy, and Byte is still missing. Our Barangay councilor today came and informed us that he had seen a puppy in his hollow block factory. We showed him Byte’s picture and it's positive! It’s Byte! Awwww! This was taken earlier. Chippy and Lala are having an afternoon nap. Both are now pregnant. They aren’t as active as they were before. On mornings, they no longer go to the nearby river and have a bath. Most of the time I see them sleeping and just lying around. Lala is still sweet and she wakes us up every morning. Migratory birds. The birds from other countries are here. During cold months, birds are traveling to a warmer place, in tropical countries, to escape the harsh and cold winter. A year ago, I saw a few hanging out in the freshly plowed cornfield. Isn’t it amazing to think that these birds are flying thousand of miles away from home to have a vacation in the tropics? Ah!

We started our weekend trip at 3:30am. Our first stop is at Strawberry-Guyabano farm in Tupi, South Cotabato. It’s a picture perfect place. The place opens at 6:00 am but we arrived 30minutes earlier. Cold place and beautiful view at the foot of Mt. Matutum.

Avocados. We bought this during our trip. I also bought lettuce for ₱80.00 per kilo which we ate at the beach. South Cotabato is popular for its sweet pineapples! We bought three big pineapples for only ₱100! And the owner gave us an extra.

So ayun inabutan kami ng ulan while nangunguha ng buko para sa birthday nitong makulit na bata. Mag 10 years old na siya bukas, sabi pa nga ng kuya niya eh 2 digits na yung edad niya dapat hindi na daw pa-baby. Hahaha! Paanong hindi? Eh pa-baby naman talaga ang mga pusa. Hahaha! Pusa daw siya eh. Gustong gusto niya ng pusa kaso bawAl dito sa amin ang pusa. PS Di ko po yan anak. Hahaha!

Past 6:30 na and nakasalang na yung pangalawang kaldero na sinaing. Magbe-beach daw kasi birthday ng pamangkin ko na makulit. Magpapaiwan na lang kami kasi last week eh nagbeach naman kami. Nakakapagod din magbyahe. Konti na lang ang lulutuin namin kasi naumpisahan na namin kagabi. Yung bulinggit nagising na. Sabi niya ‘meow’! Hahaha! Good morning po!

Black coffee to start my day. Geez! I was busy yesterday with the harvest. The truck was stuck twice in the mud, we had to call the other team to help. I slept like a baby last night! The leaves of our sineguelas (Spanish Plum) start to wither. In few months, new leaves will start to grow followed by the flowers and then the fruits! Last year, we had a good time eating the fruits. I am hoping this year will be the same as last year. We got a fine weather this afternoon. All done with the work and I think I need a nap. Power nap.

Ladybug. My boyfriend’s nephew saw this little ladybug. We are almost done sowing the corn seeds. Next weekend, we’ll plant again in a different area. The weather is fine and it’s cloudy. Ah! Fluffy clouds!!

I found an old dress and the fabric is still good. Since it’s too big to wear, I decided to disassemble the dress, and make a skirt out of the fabric I got from it. I think, I can finish it in a week given that I got a lot of things to do everyday. Lol! I’ll just hand stitch it and that will make two weeks to finish. Haha!

Had a stroll while resting after making a new garden plot for the radish and planted the string bean seeds. As per the weather bureau the La Niña phenomenon will last until the first quarter of the year. I think it has weakened now. That means a good time to plant! I feel better now after an afternoon sleep, actually I slept from 12noon up to 2pm I think. Maybe I was just tired. My sister is cooking chicken adobo for dinner. Ahhhh! Extra rice is waiving. Hahaha

6:18am as I write this post. It’s cold today! Geeez! I had my coffee already but I went back in to my bed. Haha! My niece is awake now and she came here and hid under my blanket too! I’ll be up in few minutes to cook breakfast. Good morning everyone!
