Oftentimes, we used to compare ourselves with others. Most of the time, physically. This comparison does not focus on women only, men tend to compare themselves as well with others; in silence.
There's a lot of how I wish, good for her, good for him, why it is not on me, why I am different. A lot of they're better than me. That we forget to appreciate what we have.
That if they are beautiful, so you are.
Have you tried looking at the mirror and say, I am beautiful? Not like them but in your own way. If not, this is the best time to do it.
I myself has experienced such insecurity. Way back college, I always see myself as the least beautiful among all the students in our university or not beautiful at all. I tend to message my closest friends, and ask them, "I am beautiful"? Just to have an assurance that I am. That is because I used to hear people say, I am not pretty at all. I have a short height, I do not have the coca cola body like others. I do not even have a long legs. I do not have the fairest skin. And that I have a larger forehead, than my face. In short, I did not meet the standard of beauty they wanted to see. And that thought eats me a lot.
Not until I realized that if the standard they have is not the same as mine, then I'll set my own standard.
I actually watched one of Toni Gonzaga's interview with Wil Dasovich and she said, "No matter how many times you were cancelled by other people, what's important is you never cancel yourself. Everybody can be against you, but you do not have to be against yourself."
It is really just nice how we learn to appreciate ourselves. If we have time to appreciate others, for sure we have time as well to appreciate ourselves. This is the time now.
Do not be like the antagonist on Snow White that every time she looks as the mirror, she always wanted to compare her beauty to anyone. Be that someone that looks in the mirror and say, I am beautiful.
