If you are someone that plays video games often, you probably know better than anyone that when a video game gets too hard it kind of loses its appeal. After so many tries of beating that one level or completing that objective, you can sometimes feel like it would be easier to just quit playing the game.

Dota2 can be one of those games in a sense. It is perhaps one of the hardest esports to learn to play because of the many different characters and how they are each meant to be played. The complex roles of each character can make this game hard to get into.

However, this doesn’t mean that it is impossible. If you want to know how you can get into Dota2 and why it is so difficult, then you should continue reading the information below.

Why is Dota2 so Hard to Play?

If you just started playing Dota2, you may be wondering why it is so hard to play when you are a beginner. The answer to this is quite simple. As it was mentioned earlier, there are a lot of characters in Dota2, more than 100,  that you can choose from. Having so many options to choose from can make it hard to get used to one character in the beginning.

Additionally, the nature of the game also makes it a lot harder to adapt to the different characters. Dota2 is a 5v5 battle where you try to destroy the enemies' ancient while preventing them from destroying yours.

This means that you not only have to understand the abilities and how to play your character, but you also need to understand the abilities and roles of your teammate's characters as well as the people you are playing against.

Getting used to all of these different characters and being able to understand what they are capable of can take a long time, but once you do you will enjoy the game a lot more than before.

Is Dota2 Good for Beginners?

If you are someone that typically doesn’t play these types of games, you might want to start with a different game. The reason for this is that Dota2 has a lot of different characters which makes it difficult to understand the game at first.

It is totally possible to play Dota2 as a beginner and gain an understanding of the game. However, it will take a long time to do so. There are other similar games that are more beginner-friendly than Dota2 like CS:GO or League of Legends.

How Long Does it Take to Master Dota2?

With all of this talk about how it can take a long time to understand Dota2, you might be wondering just how long is a “long time”. The truth is that it will depend on how you approach the game and how often you play it.

If you are a serious gamer that is looking to master Dota2 as quickly as possible, it might take you anywhere from 1-3 months of playing the game regularly to really get the hang of it. However, if you are more casual about it, then it could take you anywhere from 3 months to a year.

This is why if you are someone that only plays video games for a couple of hours on the weekend, Dota2 might not be the game for you. There are plenty of other games that allow you to master the game while being much more casual about it.

Tips for Mastering Dota2

If you decide to get into Dota2, you could use some tips on how to master Dota2 faster and how to improve in the game as a beginner. Some of the tips below could be quite useful to you for your journey to mastering Dota2.

Be a Team Player

Dota2 is a game that is built on teamwork. When playing the game you will need to play as a cohesive unit. In order to do this, you will have to put aside your ego and avoid getting into fights by yourself as much as possible.

Getting into a fight by yourself will most likely result in you getting killed which could certainly hurt your team. It is always better to wait for one of your teammates before jumping into a fight. If you tend to get into fights on your own, you might want to consider this strategy and see how much you improve at the game.

Communication is Key

One of the most important things to becoming a good team player is communication. The best players in Dota2 have mastered the art of communicating with their teammates to give them the most information that they can.

In order to work well as a team and move as a cohesive unit, you and your team will have to learn how to communicate properly with each other. This is a lot easier if you are playing with a group of friends as opposed to playing with different people you don’t know each time.

Improving your communication skills within the game is a great way to master Dota2.

Pay Attention to the Replay Analysis

Watching the replays of your games and those of other people is probably one of the best ways to gain a complex understanding of the game. This will allow you to understand what mistakes you are making and how you can avoid them in the future.

If you aren’t already, then you should start taking advantage of this feature within the game.

Although Dota2 can be a hard esport for beginners if you are willing to put in the time to get better you can certainly achieve it. Playing Dota2 is not impossible, it just takes more time to get good at it than most other games.

There are many things that you can do to master Dota2. Perhaps the most important thing you can do is stay patient throughout your learning experience. If you begin to become frustrated with your progress, then you will probably have a harder time mastering the game. So pick one (or all) of the tips above and if at first, you don’t succeed, keep trying!

I've been playing Dota 2 for about five years. I even played the first part on an old computer when my laptop broke down. I got a lot of good emotions and communication. This is a very exciting game from the point of view of mechanics. Everything has its time, but now I can say that this is a TERRIBLE GAME. It has been criticized before, but now it is noticeable most of all. To play it well, you don't just need to have a huge amount of knowledge about the game. You still need to play it all the time to have the skill. And this skill does not develop logic or fantasy. It would be nice if this game was fun. And this game brought me a lot of fun BUT! When I lost and got always angry because of the long game and my tension, it killed all the joy. I was really angry. And that made my mother always angry. Lol In the year 17, it seems like the game was made more casual with turbo mode, but it just killed the game even more. Objectively, this game is bad. I think it's time for Roguelike and io games. I'm saying this from an adult's point of view. It don't require anything for fun. And you can add games with a really good story. When the game is an art object.

Many games that we can choose, it becomes difficult in itself to master this game but if we can determine our expertise on one character maybe it will make it easier to master this game.

I'm a dota player before when I was in highschool school... That time was dota 1 ... Dota 1 is one of my source of income . To make friends . Amd I'm addicted to it. And I realized that I'm addicted to it . I stopped .coz it made my grades down from 90+ down to 80+. And it made me sick ... I won't forget those heroes that I've been using before. Barathrum, abaddon, queen of pain , draw ranger, luna moonfang, luna inverse, matina and more.

Most of the heroes in the game are really quite unique, but when the Techies appeared in Dota 2 in 2014 in the fall it was a brain explosion. Everyone wanted to play for him and he was an absolute imba then. Many people who could not take it (the character cannot be duplicated) left the game. There was one trick by which it could be taken quickly. His abilities were. 1) Mines. A few pieces were then enough to kill the enemy at the very beginning of the game. 2) A stunning mine. Did not cause damage, but stunned for a long time enough for support. 3)Blow yourself up(lol) this prevented the enemies from taking a bounty on my head and caused HUGE DAMAGE. 4) The ultimate was mines, but mines with remote detonation. An enemy or a crip could pass and they remained inactive. They only exploded when you wanted them to

After a while, he was greatly weakened(update), but then it was chaos. And unlike other very special characters, there was no need for skill and experience to play on it. Almost.

And the image of mad goblins from the dungeon blowing up everything in their path is strong.

I used to play dota 1 back in the day as well. I did a lot of Dota 2. The game is just so hard and time consuming it's never usually worth it to stick with the game.

You are right, from the many characters in this game that we can choose, it becomes a difficulty in itself to master this game, but if we can determine our expertise on one character maybe it will make it easier to master this game.
