I saw my neighbor going for jogging today. On his way back I realized he was sweating heavily. I asked myself why waste my time and jog. I can just lock my self up in a small room close the windows and block all the air passages. Then I can sweat and burn calories without going for jogging.

What is sweat?

Sweat is your body's reaction when your core temperature exceeds 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit .

Is it true when you sweat you lose calories?

Sweating is a way the body regulates its temperature. It does that by releasing water, salts and other minerals. When you sweat you lose a lot of water and it does not lead to weight loss. It rather leads to a temporary loss of water weight. Once you rehydrate the water weight becomes normal. When moisture in sweat evaporates off your skin, it cools you down. You sweat more in heat and humidity, but that doesn't mean you're burning more calories or fat. It means your body has to release perspiration to bring your body temperature down.

Also sweating makes the skin healthier.Water hydrates the skin. Urea and uric acid helps prevent dry skin and dermatitis.

So just take note of this, sitting down without doing anything does not burn fat. In order to burn fats you need to be active. You need to use the energy you obtain from the food you eat. You just sit in a place and sweat thinking you are losing fats.

This shows it is just a myth that if sweat you lose fats unless you exercise or use the energy in your food.

Thanks for reading.
