Since the virus was declared as a pandemic, so many countries have been into lock down. From professional athletes to normal individuals, health and fitness level have been exacerbating .This has put the health and fitness of individuals into danger. Some professional athlete have gained weight during the quarantine.Individuals would also like to keep fit by running or jogging to avoid putting up weight. Adults would also like to go for walk as a way to get their hearts beating, sweat and stretch the muscles. It is clear that lack of training leads to loss of muscle mass and increase in fat muscles. But is it safe to go out on the streets to run or jog?

Some people may argue, I will definitely meet someone when jogging on the streets. Would they be talking to someone on phone?what if they cough when I am passing by?To make the running safe should I wear a nose mask?

According to David Nieman, Dr.PH., health professor at Appalachian State University and director of the Human Performance Lab at the North Carolina Research Campus, Brian Labus, Ph.D., MPH, assistant professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Matt Ferrari Ph.D., associate professor of biology in the Eberly College of Science, and a researcher at Centre for infectious disease dynamics at Penn State, it is safe to go.it is safe when your route or trail is less crowded.

Outdoor running or going for a walk would help boost your immune system and help fight against the virus. It is also important to go for the walk alone not in group.

Staying at least 10 feet from people you encounter on the street is key for brisk walking or running.

With the issue of wearing a mask while running, mask makes it harder to inhale the quantity of air needed to perform at the highest levels. Wearing a mask can decrease the airflow . Exercise leads to faster and harder breaths, so wearing a mask during exercise places a further strain on airflow. Running with a mask, or any other type of face covering, is inherently more difficult because you have to work harder to get the same amount of air into your lungs,” confirms Timothy Lyman, certified personal trainer and director of training programs at Fleet Feet Pittsburg.

Wearing a mask depends on a few factors. Wear it when running in a crowded place. If your route is less crowded there would be no need to wear it. You can also take it along while running and wear it when your encounter a crowd on your route.

Stay safe guys. Thanks for reading.
