The positive
08.02.22pm
2020 suck. Pandemic hit, unfortunate events all over the globe that we can't name all. I never imagine in my lifetime that I would be able so see or experience things like this.
I would love to thank my remaining sponsors huhu. I promise once I recover from all the things that's happening in my family, I'll make it up to the users that I used to sponsor.
Anyway, this is just going to be a short experience post on what happened last week.
I tested positive for COVID-19 via antigen test.
Timeline
07.22.22 Friday 10pm- flight from Manila to Cebu
07.23.22 Saturday - We went to the hospital to visit my MIL who is in ICU. Had lunch with my father and sister in law, then went to Carmelites Monastery to pray for my MIL's condition to be better
07.24.22 Sunday - went back to the ICU and had lunch with the whole fam. Went to Robinson's to buy shoes for my FIL, had dinner and went home
07.25.22 Monday - stayed at home, throat feeling a little bit itchy or sore. SassaGorl had a few cough and she started feeling a bit warmer than her usual temp and had cold. We consulted her pedia via online consult and recommended to test her for COVID-19, prescribed meds for cold and cough. We bought antigen test kits and we tested negative
07.26.22 Tuesday - Husband went to the port to book a ticket going back to Leyte for work. He left us in Cebu. My cough was progressing so we asked my FIL to buy cough meds.
07.27.22 Wednesday - Just as I thought that my cough was getting better, I woke up at 4am chest tightening and having hard time breathing. Woke up at 8am and used the extra test kit we bought.
I tested positive.
I messaged my sister-in-law that we won't be getting out of the room and asked how are they feeling. Good thing that they were all okay.
07.28.22 Thursday - still having hard time breathing every time I talk or do anything. I said 'literal na nakakapagod huminga'.
07.29.22 Friday - less cough, a little bit better breathing
07.30.22 Saturday up to now - feeling better, no cough, no more hard time breathing but will still isolate for one more day to be sure my in-laws are safe from us.
Pre-cautions and medicines
I was actually surprised when I asked my SIL to report it in the LGU. My husband and her recommended not to because they might ask us to do the rt pcr test in their facility which may have more contagious people. We did home quarantine secretly.
I wasn't prescribed any meds because we didn't report it. I continued taking Ascof Lagundi Capsule and Berroca, gargled Bactidol for my sore throat and eat fruits rich in Vitamin C.
Vaccines
I am fully vaccinated with Sinovac and have 2 booster shots of Pfizer. You might be wondering why I still did get COVID-19. As what we all know, COVID-19 vaccines helps lessen the severity of the symptoms. It doesn't mean that we are totally immune to the virus.
How, when, where and why did I get it?
Same questions ran in our heads too. We travelled recently and it is partly our fault as we got too complacent thinking that we were still in Marikina. Honestly, I never felt more safe in our city because we only had a few cases to none for the past few months.
When I told my husband that I might be positive, he was in a conference meeting and he got out immediately to check me and the result. He referred to the doctors he knew and told him that it was weakly positive because of the faint line in C. I told him if the line in T was faint it might be false positive but as you can see on the picture above, the line in T was thick.
My husband was tracking where did I get it. I told him that it is impossible for us to know. Most likely we got it in the airport or in the hospital.
Why did I get it? I only have one theory and I confessed to my husband about it. I told him I smoke sometimes especially when I go visit the house in Bulacan. That was the only reason that I can think of that made me experience the hard time breathing symptom.
Protocol
Since we didn't report it to Cebu's LGU, I asked my sister about it because they got COVID-19 after the holidays (around January as far as I can remember). They were instructed to monitor their temp or health for 5 days from the day of testing positive. Once they feel better, they have the option to have themselves tested again in their own expense.
Today is my 5th day of quarantine and I asked my husband when should I test myself again. He said take it on Wednesday to be sure. it might still be too early to test and to be sure that we or I don't have it anymore.
SassaGorl was with me all the time. I know that it's risky but I don't have someone to look after her. She's still in the process of getting to know her aunt and cousins on my husband's side and they still don't know how sassagorl acts. I am glad that I tested her when she had a fever but thank goodness, she's negative. Yes she had fever for a day but I think it's because a new tooth came out again, which made her very very uncomfortable for a few days.
Just 2 more days and we can go out of our room now. Sassagorl is getting bored than ever as a little 1y/o who is already on the exploration stage.
