My life, my rules!

There are times that what to write about is just one the hardest things that I can do. It's funny cos on some days it just seems like I'm on a writing spree and can come up with over 5 articles in a day,but today is definitely not one of those days because for the past 2 hours I've been struggling to come up with a topic to write on and it's not forthcoming.

Presently I'm on a bus heading home and looking out the window I see different people coming, going, standing and just really going about their business. Now that I remember, before I boarded the bus, I bumped into a former classmate of mine who I usually see around school but today we spoke for awhile and she told me she had graduated a year ago and she's currently working.

This was someone that we went to secondary school together and we were in the same class but now she was done with school and here I am still struggling with ASUU and their strike.

The real question is do I feel bad?

Absolutely not! Like I said in my previous article, I would love the strike to end soon but that doesn't mean that I regret anything or I feel envious.

I know I'm not the only one in this kind situation. Most of us experience this really and on a daily basis. Some of your friends may be married with kids and yet you're still single without a prospective husband, some already have cars and you're still jumping buses and trekking constantly, and the list is endless really.

There's nothing wrong in this at all because whether you like it or not, there will always be someone better than you in one way or another. Where the problem lies is when you begin to measure your level of success based on other people's achievements and success.

It doesn't matter how you look at it, success is not what we think it is most times. The world conventionally defines success based on cars, houses and affluence but really is that all there is?

There's no need getting worked up over what you have not achieved, it won't help you really. It would only distract you and take your focus off the things that you should pay attention to and just slow you down.

Every one has the chance at success if we just put in the effort and dedication that it will require. Greatness takes time, it's not rushed like most people want. No one should measure their life after other people's, it's not worth it. It's your life and should be your rules too. Remember, little drops of water makes an ocean.

We are all different in so many ways so therefore has no accurate measurement of success. I like to put it also that way, my life my rules.

Some of my classmates graduated over 2 years ago and even some of my juniors back then in school have also graduated and even gone for NYSC, but it doesn't bother me because everyone has their life to live. Life isn't a race, it's a journey and it doesn't matter how long you take to arrive at your destination

We all go through a writing block at some point in time and it's okay. You are cool to have such a life rule. And it is great to not compare ourselves with other people.

That has always been my mantra "Little drop of water makes an ocean". It is my life and my rule is simple. Do not compare yourself to others and never measure other´s success to yours. We all are different, so is our time too. We are still better than another person where we are.
