What I learned from Google's success
Great things does not always start at great places. Some great ideas bloom in spontaneous spots and sometimes, they are not the kind of origins that is grand and perfect. Like how the famous Archimedes made his remarkable discovery while taking a bath, great things does not always start from the normal or ideal places. Some even start from a garage.
Google, we commonly know as a search engine, is actually a multinational company providing services and products all across the world. When you open your phones, you would always see Google applications that have become a part of our lives. But, this international business humbly started from a garage. Not a research center or anything, just a garage. Such big business began in a bushy place. This taught me that you can start from anywhere. It does not matter when and where. What matters is you start and everything will follow. Take initiative and the diligence comes next.
The key to successful businesses and taking the first step or the first leap. It begins in taking a risk in a seemingly undeveloped area. The founders of Google took a simple opportunity and made it a starting point. They did not just grabbed an opportunity but made it. This makes us realize that when opportunities does not come our way, we just have to make one if our circumstances permit to.
The founders were PhD students in a known university, Stanford University. They had the skills and intelligence to develop a website. We do not have to possess as much as intelligence as them. We just have to make use of what we already have, like the founders did. We can capitalize our own capabilities and create ideas that would be feasible for us to develop as a business. We can collaborate or ask assistance from the people around us like how the founders worked together to make something new.
Businessmen or entrepreneurs make use of what they have to establish a business. They gauged out ideas from what they observe from their surroundings, taking account what is of necessity, what is lacking and what is the object of necessity. They make use of their environment to formulate business ideas and make them real. Making use of the available resources to materialize those ideas with their capabilities is what establishes a business. Businesses make use of what they have, cultivate it and take those things in the market where it is needed. Then, businesses spread those all across the world. International businesses have made use of what they have and took it to places where it is demanded. Google showed us how they did it. The founders used their skills and created wide range of online technologies that consumers all over the world needs.
In the international scene, competitors are numerous. You have to be something unique to stand out. Google stood amongst the crowd by being the first and becoming pioneers. This company started the trend of auctioning advertisements. They show this advertisements alongside each results. They were the first to do it and that is why they have become successful. They thought of a way that others have not yet done. Google’s competitors started copying such strategies but Google has already made an impact of being the pioneer. This taught me that in the future where I would start my own business, I should not only do the things that have already been done and the things that are traditionally done. We can make our own ways to be different and unique to have a competitive edge among others.
Google stood out because they invented something that is different and better than the rest. As actual users, we know how convenient Google is and we do not really use any other applications because it is useful enough. And it continues to create more products and services that will benefit the past and the future. To become the first in everything, you should not stop improving.
The successful international business of Google continues its success by constantly making developments and innovations. Google do not stop just because they have already reached the top. They keep expanding. A business that does not move forward will not be able to maintain its success. To aspiring business owners like me, this makes us see the importance of being innovative. It is important for us to avoid being stagnant because our world is constantly changing. We have to be updated of the new trend. We have to keep thinking of new ideas for the present and for the future. Like how Google did not stop even when their search engine is successful enough but invented more and wider range of products, we have to keep finding and making opportunities. And now, Google keeps on expanding all across the world even in our country.
In our lives, businesses like Google makes us reflect on how we can make ourselves successful. Success is relative but the paths towards it are identical. We can start from anywhere, making use of what we have and strive to be best in what we do. We should keep developing our potential. As future business owner, Google teaches us that we can make our own door to success.
I didn't know Google started in a garage. They really did a lot of work to put themselves at the top. There's a lot lessons to be learnt here
