Last night while I was talking to my mother to a video call, some memories brings me back. It's been 6 months when I saw her personally because of the pandemic. I've been longing to her care and love but one of the things that I also missed about her is her rants (sermon) every time she is mad on me. Until now, I can still her cracking shouting voice every time that I don't follow her commands. It's weird but I already miss those shouting moments of my mother.
I know that I'm not the only one who can relate to it. Most of our mother have their favorite or iconic line that we'll never forget. I guess it is natural to them maybe also because they are too tired sometimes.
So, here is some of the iconic line that my mother always told to me when she was angry.
1. Kakaselpon mo yan
Yes, nowadays it is the most iconic line of every mother. When we told to them that we have a fever or headache, they always said that line. My mother always told me that every time I said to her that my head is aching. But somehow, she is right. I know also that too much used of gadgets can also affect to my health but I can't stop using it so she got angry to me. At the end, I just don't tell to her that my head hurts.
2. Hindi ka anak ng mayaman ( You're not a child of rich man)
I don't know if my mother is the only one who said this. When I was still in the province, we need to wake up before 6'o clock because if we woke up later than that, my mother will gonna said that " Hindi ka anak ng mayaman". She wants to make sure that we already finished our assigned chores before we eat our breakfast. In connection to that line is the " Wake up, it's already 10 A.M ". Yeah, she always said that it is late even it is just 6' o clock in the morning. We have no choice but to wake up because if we don't, my mother will become a rapper haha. I admit that before I hate that thing but when I move here in Manila, I realize that she is right because when I woke up early, I become more productive and active to do my activities.
3. Hindi ako umaanak Ng pera
When I was a kid , I can still remember that I always asking for money to my mom and she always said that line. Yeah she's right , we don't have unlimited money to buy the unnecessary things. But now every time, I hear that line the first thing that come to my mind is I need to be a wise-saver and earner because we can't say what might happened to our future. It's better to have savings than to have debt.
4. Mata ang gamitin mo ,hindi bibig ( Used your eyes, not your mouth)
I don't know why but every time my mother asked to look for something, I can't find it but when she is the one who look for it, she always find it. It's unfair right? Haha. Also the line " Kapag Hindi mo nakita, makikita mo". It's ironic but they only wants to imply that if we didn't find that thing, we can see what might happened to us.
5. Papunta ka pa lang ,babalik na ako (You're still on your way, but I'm on my way back already!")
Yeah, every time that I said to my mother that I already know what to do ,she always said that line. At first ,I got annoyed because it seems that she didn't trust me on doing decisions but later on , I just realized that even we are an adult, we still need their guidance. They are right, they have a lot of experiences compared to us that only starting to explore the world.

Final Thought
It's just some of those lines that I always hear to my mother whenever she is angry to me. It's funny at first but if we realized what they've said, they actually have point. Sometimes, we despise the things that our mother told to us in the belief that we are not kid anymore to hear that rants. But at the some point, we can realize that it is also the best thing that our mother knows to help us to become an independent and responsible person. It's very annoying sometimes but it's really memorable to us. Their iconic lines will become our guide to our future. And believe me or not, when we become a mother, we also tend to say that words to our child. And the realizations hit us that our mother is definitely right.
